  1. Boa noite. Att: Sandra View this thread

But before I'm to do this, I need to disable any antivirus and anti spyware. How do I do this for MS Security Essentials? View this thread

  6. Why upon using Microsoft Security Essentials after a fresh install FULL SCAN about 229,430 items and then, after a few days later repeatedly scan only about 180,000 items? (Yet, upon an uninstall and new install (with the same definition update), once again scan about 229,000 items.) View this thread

  8. I have installed the MS Anti virus package on my XP and Server 2003 systems am very happy with it one year on. I am doing some work on some old legacy equipment and wanted to run Windows 2000 on them with the anti virus package but on install I am getting a message saying "epplauncher.exe is not a valid Win32 program" My machine for the 2k o/s is a Compaq EN 733 Pentium 3 128mb Ram which is not happy running XP. It was slow in the early days but after umpteen years of "updates" has slowed to an intolerable pace. In contrast it runs 2k at a very respectable pace for the programs I use on it. Is there is an alternative version as it may just be the launcher program that is the problem? Regards Martin View this thread
  9. I have often heard that using an optional cleaner program such as Advanced system Care or system Care Pro would cause problems with your primary security program. I have Microsoft Security Essentials currently and have had NO major issues so far but in reading the forums about optional programs it seems that sometimes these individual programs cause other issues with your primary security programs. I just want to be sure I am not installing anything that would not be covered by MSE. According to some of the information contained in these optional programs they tell you that you really need the avanced programs to really catch the bad stuff that comes through when you are searching the Web for information. Is having Microsoft SE enough to protect my computer system and privacy information? thank you, Rroguer View this thread
  10. Every time i press check for updates in the windows update panel I keep getting the message "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the serice is not running. You may need to restart your computer. I have windows running on a partition in a Mac. I have restarted twice and it still makes no difference ! Before i used to Update it online but now since this has been integrated that is also apparently not possible. It keeps reverting me to this program and the program does not work! View this thread

  13. My Windows Update Error 8000FFFF error message was received when I clicked the Icon in my desktop tray to conduct the automatic Windows Update. A dialog box appeared from the following: Control Panel --> System and Security --> Windows Update The message read: Some updates were not installed 9 updates failed Error(s) found: Code 8000FFFF Windows Update encountered an unknown error I went to Microsoft "Fix It" and conducted a search on this error. There was a link to the following answer: support.microsoft.com/fixit/rss I went through the RSS feed searching for the Error Code and I found 3 results: (1) May 24, 2012 3:45 AM Re: Fixes problems with receiving message: "ASP 0177:8000ffff" (2) May 24, 2012 3:44 AM Re: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) addressing web server with Internet Explorer (3) May 24, 2012 3:40 AM Re: Running the "vsadmin.list" writers command on a Windows Server 2003-based computer. If either of these are my solution, then I'm not quite sure how they apply. Is there another link that will get me up to that point to use either of those solutions. Right now, I'm concerned about the safety of my PC. Thank you. 14. When I bought the computer, these were the properties I supposedly had: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3 Intel 4CPU 2.8 Ghz 2.79Ghz, .99GB Ram After Guruaid.com "cleaned" my computer, I've had a LOT of problems. While fixing these, I noticed that I only have Service Pack 1 installed now. I know that I have to install the Service Pack 2 app to be able to reinstall the Service Pack 3 that I'm supposed to have. Apparently, my system is a 32 bit, which should be compatible with Service Pack 3. There is no mention of whether it's 32 bit or 64 bit in the Properties WIndow, so I'm assuming it's a 32 bit. My question is what download do I use to install both the Service Pack 2 & 3, as there are multiple selections given on the site? View this thread

  25. I want to alert you that i have been receiving at least 15 phone calls a week from someone posing as a tech from your technical dept. trying to tell me that i have serious problems on my computer and i need to give him access to my computer so he can resolve the issues on my computer so i won't lose all the data on my computer. No matter how many times i've told him i don't want him calling me anymore he still call s 2 and 3 times a day. I know this is a scam and would never give out any information on the phone unless i called the person or company myself. But i can't help but think there are alot of people that would fall for a scam like that and believe that the call was authentic, and make the mistake of allowing access to their computer just because the person claimed to be a Microsoft employee. I thought that a public anouncement from Microsoft would alert people not to fall for the scam, that Microsoft doesn't operate that way. Thank You Joe Morgan View this thread
