I have tried to troubleshoot using fix it and it doesn't work..i can't troubleshoot using the normal one..i have looked to see if i have a virus and found rootkits..would this effect the update ? View this thread

Hi, Fired up my PC this morning and was prompted to install updates from windows update. Checked the list, there was 11 important updates available. I unchecked and hid the Nvidia-update as i want to do updates to my GPU's myself. Installed the remaining 10, completed and was prompted to restart my PC. Here the problems starts; i am no longer able to boot into windows. It get's past the bios screen, shows the blue flag with the spinning circle below and then......nothing but a black screen and my screen goes into sleep mode. I have tried booting into safe mode in minimal mode by using a command prompt (bcdedit /set {default} safeboot minimal) from the repair option of my installation disc but it will not even boot into safe mode. I run without system restore enabled so that option is not valid for me. The system is now checking the disc for errors but it seems to hang there as well as it has been going for more than 2 hours now....... Any way i can revert the updates from outside windows? Any other suggestions that resetting from the install disc? Spec: Evga x58 Classified 3, Intel i7 950, 2x Geforce GTX 580 in SLI, 12gb Corsair Dominator GT DDR3, Corsair Force 3 SSD 128gb, Dell u2711 2560x1440. Win 8 Pro x64, all fully updated with latest drivers. PC was working flawlessly up to this Point. Dissapointed that "important updates" from Microsoft kills my working machine. View this thread

New HDD in an old Dell, install went smooth, however I am running into a problem with windows update. It says that everything is up to date, although I just installed windows and I know that it probably needs some new software drivers. Hi there, May I know why are there so many windows 8 updates? Will it ever stop updating every 2 days? And why do the updates take so long to complete? I do hope that it is because windows 8 is relatively new, therefore there are so many updates. And that there will be fewer updates in future. View this thread

I Purchased windows XP professional service pack 2 in 2008. After reinstalling the windows upgrades are not getting installed. The screen shows Error number: 0x80244019. Every time I run Windows update it says the .NET Framework 1.1 needs to install KB2742597 The process downloads this update and installs it. The menus says it was finished correctly. The next time I run Windows update it goes through the same motions again. .NET Frameworks version up through 4.0 are installed. I have tried over 11 fixes and nothing works. Some of the more interesting ones are: 1. Run Mr. Fixit which says it installed all updates for Windows correctly. But the next time I run update the same problem is still there. 2. Remove all .NET Framework versions including 1.1 and then reinstalling. All of them work except the one. 3. Run the cleanup utility. No good. The log file for this update which I found in the Software Distribution folder says that Framework 1.1 cannot find .Net Framework version 20a. I did not find this file anywhere in the entire Microsoft library. I found some web sites with Google that proclaimed to have this file. It breaks Virtual PC Additions on Windows Server 2008 on system that does not support hardware virtualization.The guest becomes very slow and takes 100% CPU (behaves as the VM Additions wouldn't be installed). I want to find a good program that is, I guess, antivirus, anti-malware, and all of that stuff in one program (or two, if you know a good combo.) So really, just a total security program. My main focus is detection rate. To start off, I'm Running Windows XP. REQUIREMENTS: -Has to be free, and the free version must work well. -NOT avg. I don't like AVG. -Not bitDefender. I don't like that either. -Must work well with Ad-Aware (I have ad-aware installed in compatible mode) -BEST detection rate, that is most important -Real-time monitoring (this is not the most important issue for me) -I don't care much about resource use -Again, very good detection rate. I can't stress that enough -Finally, since it is a free version, I don't want it to nag to me to buy the paid version, but, again, it isn't the most important factor.
