My Dell Laptop Had a cracked Screen and was having Hardware problems.... SOLUTION: I bought a HP Mini which the owner had a Virus and stated WiFi did not work. I used my Dell Components... I replace the Memory, Added the Dell WiFi the removed the HP's small Hard Drive which had Windows 7 Starter with my 500Gig Hard Drive. Due to Motherboard driver incompatibilities, I had to use the re-install for my Windows 7 starter. After 5 days of updates installed I was back and running with a slightly faster Machine... that was 2 months back... All worked fine including the updates and my Windows security suite.. 3 days Windows suddenly fail the Windows Validation???? I was frustrated, I owned both Net-books thus two copies of Windows. So I contacted Windows support. After explaining the Mother Board switch.. they stated Windows viewed this as a pirated version... they could do nothing... when asked, basically they insinuated I was a pirate to do this. To use my EET degree to repair my own system then use the Windows on the Dell Hard Drive with the HP Motherboard - Was in MS view a, me pirating Window 7 (starter no less, as if I would not use a better version if I was a thief). This shows me Microsoft has lost it's integrity... I am going to start a posting campaign. If anyone knows of a class action for this please inform me. Microsoft informed me to BUY yet another Windows... My question is: Who is/are the PIRATE in this tale of betrayal from a former loyal customers? View this thread

First I had the WindowsUpdate_800B0100" "WindowsUpdate_dt000 error on this update, No pre installed software, Windows 7 Home Premium 54-bit I downloaded and ran the Mpcrosoft update Fix tool that this error code points to. Hey! My USB is not getting detected in Win8. It used to get detected before, but after some update, it failed. Device manager says, "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" I tried to install updates for driver software, bur no luck. Also, kb2811660 always fails. What do I do? I tried manual updates, but that also failed. It goes to that 7% mark, and then it reads, "Failure to configure Windows. Reverting back changes". View this thread

I can't delete a system file, keeps on adding up with different file names in my D: drive. Sample folder name: 5a9b45610d34eaaf32e73e Prompt message: You require permission from SYSTEM to make changes to this folder. I did everything so far: Change owner as my ADMIN user Delete folder as ADMIN Disk Cleanup Disk Defragmenter Used CCleaner to clean it up Still cannot delete. Hello, my Asus laptop had a error loading operating system notice when I tried to boot it up. I got my windows CD and I press any key to boot. I'm not asked and language questions and it starts up ,I'm left with a black and my movable cursor. I've tried pressing f8 before and I don't get a system recovery opting just safe mode, that dont work, resolution settings, that don't work, start from last good config, boot logging, directory system restore that doesn't work, and some other stuff that doesn't work. window popped up middle of screen which look like it is from mse saying it has detected serious viruses & to click clean straight away.on clicking clean another window pops up asking to run or save.where the http:// is in the top of the screen it has cleaner16.biz and a whole lot more writing.looked iffy to me so did not run or save. Ok. last week i restored my computer to factory default settings. I got the computer in June 2011. Have windows 7 profession 64bit. i fully uninstalled McAfee thinking that it was causing problems. I have Malwarebytes as the only anti virus installed. Will probably reinstall mcafee if all of this is cleaned up. Ive been suffering many blue screens over the past week. When i select windows updatescheck for updates via control panel, i am greeted with: 'Windows could not search for new updates, Error(s) found, code 50080005 Solutions ive tried: - performing a clean boot - downloaded and used the windows update trouble shooter found here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Troubleshoot-problems-with-installing-updates - downloaded and used System Update Readiness Tool found here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 . All it did was launch a windows update standalone installer, installed some hot fix (which i did twice for a gamble) and went no where. - tried running cmd as admin, running 'sfc /scannow' that tells me 'Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service' so i followed the steps found here http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/fix-for-error-windows-resource-protection-could-not-start-the-repair-service-when-running-sfc-in-vista/ , but then i got told another system repair was pending which needed a reboot but that didnt do anything. All of the above things i tried Failed and i still stand with the error code 50080005. In regards to the last step i tried, i do have a pending xml file in my windowswinsxs folder. Its full of an insane amount of text when opened in note pad. Also, each time before i get to my user log in screen on start up, it says configuration windows updates, loads for a moment, then says configuring windows updates failed, reverting changes, stuff like that. When a **** woman showed up today on a site page that I had not requested I checked my browsers and found two that I had no familiarity with named Blabbers and Fun Moods. I did not find anything pertaining to it in my Control Panel's Programs department but I did find Blabbers and Browser Companion in my registry editor department. I researched some forums and found out they were both bad so I removed them. I run full scans regularly every week with Microsoft Security Essentials and it is just not catching these things. I am careful when I download something to NEVER accept ANY toolbars or browsers. All the other browsers were from sites I've been using for years for craft work. Not pornographic in nature at all or malicious. I deleted all but my Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. Google Chrome has been catching some dangerous sites and warning me of their dangers But MSE just sits there and says no threats found. View this thread

I had to install a new hard drive and reinstall many updates. Have had no problems except for service pack one for Vista. I have Vista Home Preminum. I can not install later service packs or upgrade explorer until I get past this service pack. My update history shows it sucessfully installed (serveral times) and it seems to do it correctly the first time. Now it keeps coming up as an update and goes as far as accepting the agreement and shows successfully installed But it does not show on the computer properties screeen. View this thread

Every day, Microsoft Security Essentials displays "PC Status: Potentially Unprotected", for the reason that "You haven't run a scan on your PC for a while. This could put your PC at risk." Is it normal for the program to want to run a FULL, 4-5 hour scan every day? Running a Quick Scan does not satisfy the requirements for removing the Potentially Unprotected status. Is there a way to change it so that it requires one full scan per week instead of per day? Thanks for your time, James View this thread
