When I tried to open a web page, an MSE alert came up on IE saying there were potential threats (Trojan, Hack Tool and Adware) and that I needed to clean my computer. When I clicked on “Clean computer,” a message came up saying “security_cleaner.exe is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer,” with the options of “Delete,” “Actions,” and “View downloads.” What course of action should I take to deal with the alert? I have this brand new windows 7 computer I built and for some reason it takes 10 minutes for my update center to load or it crashes. It worked at first but at some point i noticed it had started this problem, Although I simply let it be because everything else ran right and I didn't have the want to deal with it. Recently I bought a game that tries to install the .net framework but it won't work and I read on a forum that if windows isn't up to date it can cause problems. So in short i need this fixed so I can play my game and so I can know if I'm updated or not. Like i said it did start once but it shows me a read shield that says check for updates now but when i press the button under it to check it tells me "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service in not running. You may need to restart your computer." but ii have shut down and restarted my PC many times between the first time I've encountered this problem and now. When I try to install SP1 for Vista, it prompts me to accept the terms, and tells me it will restart several times. It begins to download, but then ends about ten seconds later and says that it has been successfully downloaded. When I start my computer again, it says that SP1 needs to be downloaded again. I have a Samsung laptop with Windows 8 I got in November (Black Friday), and ever since around February's update its slowly been having problem after problem!First, when I tried to turn it off it would just come back on. Upon googling it I found how to fix it (by unchecking that faster thing) and did.But every now and then when I turn it on it'll tell me SW Update thing crashed, every other night it crashes on my game or on my art program and to fix it I have to try and restart, but it just doesn't restart leaving me to turn off then back on and then leading me to find it remembers none of the recent saves leading to THAT crash. Heck sometimes even when something doesn't crash if needs to restart it doesn't work! Its driving me nuts, and now I tried to do some "Critical" windows update through the SW Update, and its been on the same thing for a few hours now and won't let me do anything with it! 1.The appearance of the back forward buttons changed, one is larger than the other and the small arrow adjacent to them that would reveal recent pages or complete history has disappeared. 2. The url identification for the page previously was adjacent the "back" 'forward" buttons has moved to the right right and in it's place is my Google search box which previously was on the extreme right in this menu bar. 3. How do I solve this? I ran a full scan on Malwarebytes and nothing was detected. I don't know how to get Windows Update working. I purchased Stock InvestorPro from American Association of Individual Investor to install on my laptop computer running Windows 7 64-bit operating system. When I installed it for the first time, it was running fine. I get weekly data download from AAII, which went corrupt a week ago. I tried to reindex it using Stock InvestorPro's Utility software, but it got worse. I was asked to uninstall and reinstall Stock InvestorPro. However, when I reinstalled it, it wouldn't run. The message I keep getting is "Microsoft Visual FoxPro has stopped working. Windows will notify you when a solution is found." After that, Stock InvestoPro would shut down and doesn't run. I have tried the uninstall and reinstall several times, thinking that I may have done something wrong, but the problem remains. Is there a patch that Microsoft provides that can fix this issue? Is there a specific Visual FoxPro driver that runs in the background to support third party software using that database? I have tried every single solution offered on this and dozens of other sites but still cannot get this update to install. I get error code 8004FF80. If I unistall MSE then the only way to re-install is to do a system restore. Please do not suggest looking for other anti-virus programmes, my system has none and as I said, I have tried everything else.
