I did an in-place upgrade from Win7 -> Win8 Pro. Now it won't hibernate. I've enabled the setting in the power control panel, but after shutting off the screen, it doesn't actually hibernate. I move the mouse, and it goes right back to the login screen. Sleep works fine however. I used the hibernate setting all the time under Windows 7. View the full article

Using Vista on laptop. Get 3 updates on boot-up & shut-down. Don't seem to install. Gone 3x's thru 80070002 process. How to fix? 3 Updates failed to install: KB2779562, KB2705219, and KB2722913. My access to my WHS server has somehow been changed and I am no longer able to RTP into it. When I enter the correct password, I get a long error message stating that I have to be included in some type of admin group and that has to be done manually, which I can't do without logging in. I never had a problem with this before, everything else on the server (Acer Aspire easyStore 340) is working properly through the console, but I can't install or modify software as a result. I'm pretty sure the reason is that I used to manage and access the server via RTP from a desktop that crashed badly and I now cannot use and I am now trying to do this through my laptop. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could fix this without doing a full restore on the server? View this thread

Hello people, the sad thing about this story is that i only have this laptop 3 days and its already giving me a problem/headache. I cannot believe a newly configured laptop is like this. I have the new IdeaPad from Lenovo running on an i7 quad core and a 650M nvidia and 8 GB of Ram. 2 things I noticed is the fluctuation the RAM to 40% when clearly I am not even using 2. My CPU never clocks more than 40%..stable at 1-3%. Looking at my screenshots below, u can see that 3.2GB are in use....clearly they arent in the next screenshot. So i figured there is a Memory leakage. A heavy one. So please explain to me how I can solve this problem. I have run a registry optimization program 2 times (clean registry), updated every driver, uninstalled McAffee completely (guess that wasnt the problem) and virus scanned many times. Nothing. Then I look onto my UNINSTALL programs and I see that my newly installed Battlefield 3 is taking up 3.99 TB of space (???? impossible cuz my C drive doesnt testify that at all) could it be my BF3 game? Furthermore as notes to be considered. Initially I was running League Of Legends at a steady 60FPS but ever since the Memory leak (2 days later) I cant go higher than 30FPS. So I thought it was a video card problem but it clearly isnt. I am running Windows 7 Pro. On my last machine, I was able to right click on a file or folder, go down to "Send to", and among the options was "Send to folder". Now this option is not available. Is there any way I can get that option back in the options for places I can send a file or folder, or is it just not an option in this version of Windows? My computer is operating with 32 bit windows vista. I have not been able to check for windows updates since June 2006. In my system tray I get the message that windows can't check for updates. I have placed all update urls on the exceptions list in firewall. When trying to manually check for updates I get this error code: Code 80072EF This is really becoming very frustrating Please help!!!
