I am running Windows 8 Enterprise 64-bit on a Lenovo ThinkPad X230 laptop and joined to a domain. I have set up location aware printing (in Devices and Printers -> Manage default printers) to map to different printers between office and home. It works but with a glitch. It does the switching correctly if I put the laptop in Sleep mode when I leave office/home. However, with a shutdown/restart or a reboot, the "Manage Default Printers" setting would revert back to "Always use the same printer as my default printer". Am I the only one who has this issue? I have a problem connecting a Cisco E100 router to my computer. My compter (desktop ) does not have wireless. I have DSL coming in. Cisco tells me to connect a Cable from router using Ethernet connect. I do not have a Ethernet connection on my computer. At present I have USB connect from computer to Westell modem. Can anyone help ? I hope this is enough info. Basically what I'm hoping to do is install wi fi so I can use a tablet right now and perhaps a lap top latter on. Thanks View this thread

I have a Windows 8 (x64) box that I get Access is Denied and error 0x80070005 when running the task. The task should run an EXE file. 1) This file runs fine on this computer if run directly from windows explorer instead of through scheduled tasks. 2) The same scheduled task runs fine from my Windows 7 (x64 and x86) and XP boxes. I've tried all 3 settings under "Configure for:", including Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista. Run with highest privileges is checked as well. Hi folks. Dedup Question. I know Data Dedup cannot be enabled in Windows 8. Dual boot scenario “Windows Server 2012” and “Windows 8” If I dedup a volume in WS2012 can I still access it from the Windows 8 installation? Using Surface RT - My most frequently needed contact can not be added as a favorite. All other contacts can be favorited and unfavorited. Hi everyone, I have recently installed Windows 8 (RTM) and noticed that it generates thumbnail cache files locally ("Thumbs.db" file created in the local folder, as it used to be with Windows XP) instead of keeping the thumbnail caching features centralized as was the case with Windows Vista/7 (e.g. in the %LocalAppData%MicrosoftWindowsExplorer folder for Windows 7). Is there any way to change the thumbnail caching feature backed to a centralized fashion (e.g. by keeping some thumbcache*.db files somewhere in the user folder)? Some registry values changes, maybe? Just a couple of things: I am talking about a LOCAL folder (no network share with write access) and I do not want to disable thumbnail caching or to hide system files as some people might suggest. I have a projector with an HDMI input. I ran a cable from my Windows Vista pc video card from the DVI output to the HDMI input of my projector. Windows will not recognize it and the projector wont recognize that there is an output signal on the DVI port. I plugged my regular LCD monitor in the same port and it works fine. The problem is that for my regular LCD monitor i want to use the RGB connection and use the DVI for my projector. Can someone help ? View this thread

After I open an email in my Windows Mail (Vista) then close it, the next day when I look for it the email is gone. I looked in, "Delete," "Out Box," etc. They have just disappeared!????? Even on the same day/time if I see the email is there after closing it, but then I click on "Junk Mail" for instance and then back to In Box the email has disappeared.
