Did you download and save or download and run?
Is it in downloaded files or recived files?
Use windows search.
I would download and run not download and save.
Check device manager and try a right click update driver now?
Darn I knew you would say something diffrent from what the origonal OS was.
Ok I found this:
Installing Crystal Semiconductor CS4232/CS4236 PnP Driver
You may have to tweek the guide a litle to see if it works.
However in device manager you can try a roll back of the driver.
Or a system restore to just before your sound stopped.
Or right click on the device in manager and choose to select a driver yourself. Then you can see if the driver is listed.
This is showing the driver is not for Pro or are you using Windows 2000 Pro?
Dell dont do a driver download for Pro either.
Maybe some one else can help while I search out this.
Yes that was excellent I needed the service tag number.
You have a Dell OptiPlex GX1.
It shows no driver update for your sound.
What operating system is it running?
Your welcome babe.
Resit the RAM,sounds strange but some times RAM can stop displays functining.
Are you sure it is a blank screen and not blinking cursor in the top left corner?
Are you able to restart and repeatedly tap F8 and choose either safe mode or last known good config?
Check internal connections and external you may of loosened something while inside.
Beeps?
One single beep on startup or several?
Now reset date time etc in BIOS.
CMOS checksum error
Bad or old CMOS battery.
BIOS update.
Disconnecting power from computer without shutting down computer
Attempt to reboot the computer. If error still occurs after rebooting the computer enter CMOS setup and check all values, this includes verifying the time and date are correct. Once everything has been verified and/or changed make sure you save and exit CMOS setup. If everything appears to be correct and the issue persists try resetting the CMOS values to the defaults and/or Reset Configuration Data.
If the computer was had the power disconnected while it was still running it is possible this could cause the CMOS to become corrupt. Ensure that the computer is ready to be shut off before turning off the computer. If you have a laptop computer ensure that the battery is charged before disconnecting the power connection.
If you've recently ran a BIOS update on the computer the values stored in CMOS may have been reset. Enter CMOS setup and re-enter all the appropriate values. If you're unable to enter the BIOS setup or after running a BIOS update your computer no longer keeps its values the incorrect BIOS update may have been installed for your computer or the version downloaded may be corrupt. We suggest trying to update the BIOS again and/or reverting back to an earlier version.
A local electrical store will sell you a Lithium battery for your replacement BIOS battery.
Thankyou babe.
Jumper settings.
Look on the end of the CD/DVD drives you will see pins and a little plastic peice.
This plastic peice needs to be set as master or slave.
There should be a sticker on the CD/DVD rom drives to show which setting is correct.
Do not worry about turning the PC off we are still her,me I am always here.
Hello and welcome.
No caps please the loudness is deafening me.:D
Ok what sort of drives are they?
Do they attach via IDE cable?
If yes put the master on the end connection and the slave in the middle.
Now are they reconised on the post screen or in BIOS/Setup?
Remeber diffrent make and models of drives may require a diffrent jumper setting.
You do not have them attached to the hard drive cable?
These are good:
CCleaner - Home
Revo Uninstaller - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com
Although some software require there own uninstaller download to uninstall.
Your welcome babe just take your time.
The problem is we do not know what changes you made to the OS and this hinders a repair process.
Hence lets see if you can reinstall.
Are you using a full install disk or a recovery disk?
You need a full install disk not recovery.
Ok use two seprate windows.
Open windows.old then say music folder.
Also open Music folder in your new windows instillation and copy and paste or drag the files from windows.old to the music folder.
Open "windows.old" and move your files to new windows instillation.
Then use disk cleanup to get rid of windows.old and free up disk space.
It is safe but as I said DO NOT delete the origonal partition just install windows. If you delete it all files will be lost.
Or remove the hard drive and fit as a slave to another computer, removes files.Replace and then format.
