  1. Ok I have an idea for you that you may or may not like. You can reinstall windows. However DO NOT delete the partition just go ahead and install on the partition already created. Once installed and you have logged onto windows open C: and you will see a file "Windows.old" this contains all your old files such as pictures, files, music etc. So no data is lost.
  2. Did you try to restart the computer and repeatedly tap F8 and choose last known good config that worked? Are you able to run in safe mode? What did it say on the Blue screen? Did you load defaults in BIOS then set first boot device? To start System Restore using the Command prompt, follow these steps: 1. Start your computer in safe mode with command prompt. . 2. At the command prompt, type rstrui.exe, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  4. A origional one was hand wound.
  5. Hello and welcome to the forum. So what you are saying is the battery will only charge if you sort of hold the charger in some weired position? This could be an internal power pin connection is loose. You may need this soldered back on by a pro. JB.
  6. Hello Mathew and welcome. Th first thing to do is to check sound options and makes sure nothing is muted and all sliders are fully up. In device manager right click on each device under sound and choose update driver. If you are given the choice to do this over the internet choose this time and every time.
  7. Hey there. Did you download 3.0? I myself have not used this before. But what are you doing when it freezes?
  8. Hello Steve and welcome to the forum. Have a surf around and check us out. Welcome aboard and enjoy your stay. JB. PS I am a miss.:)

Choose: Archives files. Equium.Notebook Equium M serise Equium M 50 there is a choice of two choose yours. Then use the other boxes to choose operating system. The driver type such as wireless. and search it should give you your driver download.

  13. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  14. That price is fine. So computer is all running pritty good?
  15. You will need an IDE hard drive not a SATA one. Why buy off eBay when Play.com sell them and free delivery and they cheap enough. Amazon.co.uk sell them cheap enough. Generic hard drives are under £30. This link looks hard but we can break it down to easy instructions: How to partition and format a hard disk by using Windows XP Setup program
  16. That is excellent. Ok once it comes run this scanner so we can see which RAM is compatable.: RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, flash cards, SSD at Crucial.com Then we can sort you out with some RAM. To fit a new hard drive is usaly disconnect two internal cables undo a few screws or clips.Remove old hard drive and fit new one. We can help you out with reinstalling windows it is not that hard. You should give the tower internals a good clean while powered off. We will get you to give it a service via instructions and get it up and running smooth for you. I think £40-00 is an excellent price a lot cheaper than replacing a mainboard,CPU and possibly a power supply.
  17. This is what I would do: I would buy a similar tower as I said above. Then buy 2x1 gig Kingston Value RAM. Add a new 160-250 gig hard drive reinstall windows and have a half decent tower for around £80.
  18. What I quoted above is a Hyper Threading CPU. A buisness seller as you call it,a lot of them do not refurb a computer, they just give it a clean and reinstall windows then you get charged a higher price.
  19. If your budget is tight and you have already got monitor, keyboard ect I would possibly go for a second hand tower with a little more power. I know I can pickup PIIII with 2.8 GHZ CPU and 512 mb RAM in my area for £30-00.But that is only the tower.I also note in my local paper that a 15 in flat screen+keyboard/mouse+tower of the above grade can now be bought for £70-00 upto £120-00.Depends if the seller is a greedy person. This would then mean you could possibly upgrade the RAM to 2 gig and just buy Kingston Value RAM.It is cheap and is fine for older machines. I know for a fact a PIIII with a 2.8 GHZ CPU and 1 gig RAM can run Vista Ultimate 32 bit easily. Why because I am running it on that spec. Your computer you have now is old.The hardware and power supply may not be upto the grade now to power a newer mainboard and CPU. Do not be ripped off when buying a secondhand computer or tower.Always check the system is functioning correctly. Others may say I am wrong on this but I found that Compaq computers of the above grade are usaly fine to buy if they been looked after.
  20. I have a last try. If you have IE 8 installed I would uninstall it and go back to IE7. Unles some of the other guys can come up with an idea for you.
  21. Hey no appoligies I forget how many times I have been called DUDE. You already have the cable in your house for the set top box. The setop box connects to a socket on your wall.Look at the socket does it have a spare port? If it has the spare port all Virginmedia do is screw a cable to that, then the modem on the end.Job done. Then ring Virgin to setup the modem once you have installed the software from disk or download. If the socket doesnt have a spare port it is a simple case of the maitenance guy removing the old one and fitting a new one. So no worries of them drilling walls for cables, etc, there realy is no hassle to upgrade. You could purchase a wiress router, you could possibly buy one for around £40-00. I would definantly go for the upgrade to the cable modem, you will have much better speeds and connection. It is free and no hassle.
  22. As far as I can see your computer only takes 1.5 GHZ upto 2.0 GHZ CPU. Again I cannot find specific information on this board it is old.Dell do not do a CPU upgrade. A newer revision of this board could possibly take upto a 2.6 GHZ CPU but what I have read so far it will NOT take a 2.8 GHZ CPU.
  23. Fit one of these in each computer: Play.com (UK) : PCI Fast Ethernet 10/100 RJ45 Network Interface Card : Computing - Free Delivery Then use something like, this to connect the eithernet cable from back of the TV box to the router. TP-Link TL-R460 4 Port Wired Cable/DSL Router: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo Then attach all computers to the router as per instructions. This setup can also be used if you were using a Virginmedia modem, you would then connect the router to the modem and not the TV box.
  24. Try this: Dell Technical Support Home Page / Dell Troubleshooting Search Click on Find my service tag.
