  5. Gaz I just looked further into your graphics card and it appears to of been produced some were around 2003. It is a rather old card and maybe damaged or failing. I think you maybe looking at buying a new graphics card.
  6. Your graphics card shows me you have a DVI port, the white port. You can buy adaptors to convert VGA to DVI and DVI to VGA.They are around £3-00. Now you say your monitor is a little green? So what you are saying is the monitor screen when on shows a green tint to it? Could you borrow a monitor off a friend or neigbour and connect it to your computer, does the friends monitor showup a green tint also? You bought a new mainboard or was this second hand from some were like eBay? Did you update the BIOS of this mainboard? Have you installed the latest chipset and drivers from the manufacturers website? I know a lot of questions we are just trying to rule out or rule in an issue.

  10. Wizards— use the simple ATI Catalyst Control Center Wizard to configure PC or HDTV display settings, 3D settings, and video settings in just a few simple steps. Display Management— easily configure displays for optimal viewing, including multiple display configurations (extended, spanning, cloning if supported by the operating system) on every type of display (CRT, LCD, DFP, TV, HDTV). Drive up to three PC displays simultaneously with ATI SurroundView™. It maybe the issue you are using the newer version have you tried an older version? TweakGuides.com - ATI Catalyst Tweak Guide Have you tried: Go to control panel > display settings, are you using Advanced options? there you can activate the second screen, that is, your tv screen. Do you gave Crossfire turned off ?
  11. I do understand it is annoying you big time. Do you get a message on the screen at all as in TV? Have you tried diffrent cables and double check they are fully seated? Does the TV have another connection you could use? What happens if you disconnect the monitor and only use the TV then restart?
  12. No the Catalyst is just an updated redesigned version. Have you now tried to configoure via windows and ATI Catalyst. Possibly lower or higher resolutions.
  13. You are welcome Susan if you run into any problems please post back.
  14. Or try this: First off, on your office PC start up Microsoft Outlook Express and choose File --> Export --> Address Book. Now choose "Text File" from the choices: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/0-blog-pics/outlook-export-address-book.pngThe system will ask for a file name: click on "Browse" and make sure you know what folder your export is going to be put, then name it something simple like contacts and let Outlook Express add the appropriate filename suffix. Now you can choose which fields you want to export: I suggest you select them all: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/0-blog-pics/outlook-export-fields.pngClick "Finish" and a second or two later, you'll be notified that the export is finished and you can quit Outlook Express. Launch your favorite Web browser and log in to your Hotmail account, then click on the "Contacts" tab. On the left side you'll see a bunch of choices: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/0-blog-pics/hotmail-contacts-menu.pngFrom this set of choices, select "Import Contacts", then select "Outlook Express" from the two options shown. Now you'll need to select the CSV file you just created in Outlook Express: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/0-blog-pics/hotmail-import-select-file.pngHere's where it's smart to have taken a few seconds earlier to see what folder Outlook Express was going to save the export. I not infrequently find that I've saved a file from a program in Windows just to have no idea where it's located on my file system! Select the file, click "Finish", and, if all goes well, you'll see: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/0-blog-pics/hotmail-import-successful.pngAnd that's all you need to do!
  15. That is brilliant. Try the following to import your email adresses. Export Contacts and Email Addresses from Windows Live Hotmail To save your Windows Live Hotmail address book to a CSV file: Select Options | More options... (or just Options in the Windows Live Hotmail toolbar. Follow the Export contacts link under Customize your contacts. Click Export contacts. You can now import contacts from the "WLMContacts.csv" file into the target application or service. Import Contacts and Email Addresses from Hotmail into Outlook Express To import contacts and email addresses from Hotmail into your Outlook Express address book: Set up access to your Hotmail account in Outlook Express. If you already have contacts in your Outlook Express address book for the current identity and want to make sure you are only importing Hotmail contacts, create a new Outlook Express identity for the Hotmail account. [*]Select Tools | Address Book... from the menu in Outlook Express. [*]Choose Tools | Synchronize Now from the address book's menu. If this choice is not available, make sure you do not Close and restart Outlook Express if you have made any changes to the contact sharing settings. [*]To import the contacts to an email program other than Outlook Express, export the current identity's address book and use your email client's import feature to add the contacts from the .csv file.
  16. I think the problem is IE8 it is just abuggy software, try uninstalling it and use IE7 for me see if that gets you online. FireFox is also much faster than IE and more secure.
  17. How did I know you would say IE8? Try and uninstall of IE8 in add and remove in control panel. See if that stops the errors. IE8 is a pain in the rear.
  18. Which internet explorer are you using? Download FireFox for me please and see if you can get online using it. Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable | Mozilla Europe
  19. Hello Alice and welcome to the forum. Sorry for the delay in giving you help. This is possibly Vista backup and restore. Follow these instructions and decrease system restore. 1/ Click Start 2/ From the Start menu Click All programs followed by Accessories 3/ On the Accessories menu Right Click on the Command Prompt option 4/ From the drop Down menu that appears, click the Run as administrator option 5/ When the Command Prompt window opens type: vssadmin list shadowstorage and Press Enter 6/ The results should read something like this: C:\Windows\system32>vssadmin list shadowstorage vssadmin 1.1 - Volume Shadow Copy Service administrative command-line tool © Copyright 2001-2005 Microsoft Corp. Shadow Copy Storage association For volume: (C:)\\?\Volume{db8e056a-6294-11db-9f9f-806e6f6e6963}\ Shadow Copy Storage volume: (C:)\\?\Volume{db8e056a-6294-11db-9f9f-806e6f6e69 63}\ Used Shadow Copy Storage space: 197.766 MB Allocated Shadow Copy Storage space: 400 MB Maximum Shadow Copy Storage space: 2.092 GB 7/ In this example the C: drive is 19.5GB in size. The currently used storage space is 197.766MB and the Maximum space allocated for System restore is 2.092GB. 8/ The current stored system restore points are 2. this can be found out by using the vssadmin list shadows command. 9/ In my opinion the 2.092GB Maximum shadow copy storage space is quite acceptable for this size of partition. However, the larger the drive/partition the more space will, inevitably, be allocated for system restore points. Reducing the Allocated Space To reduce the allocated space we need to use the Resize option in the form of: vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=[here add the drive letter]: /For=[here add the drive letter]: /Maxsize=[here add the maximum size] Let us assume that we wished to have a maximum size of 2GB from this particular partition/drive. The command line option would look something like this: C:\Windows\system32>vssadmin resize shadowstorage /On=C: /For=C: /Maxsize=2GB So to put this in to practice you proceed as follows: 1/ Click Start 2/ From the Start menu Click All programs followed by Accessories 3/ On the Accessories menu Right Click on the Command Prompt option 4/ From the drop Down menu that appears, click the Run as administrator option 5/ When the Command Prompt window opens type: vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=[here add the drive letter]: /For=[here add the drive letter]: /Maxsize=[here add the maximum size] and Press Enter 6/ if all goes well you should see a message saying 'Successfully resized the shadow copy storage association 7/ Your System Restore shadow storage has now been resized
