hp printer installation problem
Jelly Bean replied to tismehi's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Command prompt: Click start/all programs/accessories/right click on command prompt and choose run as admin. Printer: Click start then click on network/click on tab that says network sharing. Then set to share. Click start then click on network/click on tab that says add a printer. Try that for me as Vista is unlike XP things take a little longer and a few more steps to setup. -

So you got an error but you can still login to XP. Realy to repair the XP you would need the install disk. And thankyou for recommending your friend. :) -
That would be good let me know how it goes and you are very welcome.

Hey there. I am not sure if this will give you the information of your router but it is worth a try: The following is what I found on there website. If you logon to the router the information maybe there. Re-configure your router: Open a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, type http://192.168.1.1 into the Address bar and press Enter on the keyboard. Enter the username and password and click OK. Note: The default username and password are both admin (this is case-sensitive). Select Basic from the menu on the left and then select WAN Setting. Set VPI to 0 and VCI to 38. Select Yes from the Active drop-down list, and select Routing from the Mode drop-down list. Select PPPoA from the Encapsulation drop-down list and select VC from the Multiplex drop-down list. Enter your TalkTalk username in the Username box, and enter your password in the Password box. Note: You will have received your username and password in your welcome letter. Your username is usually your broadband telephone number, followed by @talktalk.net. For example, 02079460009@talktalk.net. Under IP Address, set Default Route and NAT to Enabled, and then select Obtain an IP Address Automatically. Under MTU Options, set MTU to 1432 and set RIP to Disabled. Click Submit at the end of the page. Reset and re-configure your router: Open a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, type http://192.168.1.1 into the Address bar and press Enter on the keyboard. Under MTU Options, set MTU to 1432 and set RIP to Disabled. Click Submit at the end of the page. CONFIGURING A SECURE WEP-128 WIRELESS CONNECTION Open up the correct router admin page by browsing to http://192.168.1.1/home_wlan.html (or click the link for direct access) If prompted enter the username and password, by default these are both "admin". Without the quotes obviously. Scroll down to SSID, initially its set to "TalkTalk520", and set it to something that you will remember. This is the name of your network and will be visible to everyone. Try not to make it your surname or address, choose something else. MAKE A NOTE OF IT. Where it says "Authentication Type" choose WEP128bits and the router will have a little think and present you with a section entitled "WEP". In the "WEP" section ensure that "Key#1" is selected and then enter a pass phrase. This must be 13 characters and/or numbers long. This is your wireless password so, again, make sure its not obvious and MAKE A NOTE OF IT. Scroll down and hit SUBMIT to save this Your wireless config is now complete. CONFIGURING A SECURE WPA2-PSK WIRELESS CONNECTION Open up the correct router admin page by browsing to http://192.168.1.1/home_wlan.html (or click the link for direct access) If prompted enter the username and password, by default these are both "admin". This is the name of your network and will be visible to everyone. Try not to make it your surname or address, choose something else. MAKE A NOTE OF IT. Choose your security type where it says "Authentication Type". I use WPA2-PSK and this should work if you have a modern computer. under the WPA-PSK section ensure the is set to TKIP and then enter a pre-shared key. This is your wireless password so, again, make sure its not obvious and MAKE A NOTE OF IT. Scroll down and hit SUBMIT to save this. Your wireless config is now complete.

Hello again, your very welcome. Ok first lets try the latest driver for the card: Use drop down boxes to fill in your information: Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers Then click graphics card driver button for your latest driver. Oh yeah the card would be hot.:) Is there a fan on that card and is it spinning freely? Speedfan is not even registering your graphics card the temp is showing your CPU.

Vista died and no repair disk
Jelly Bean replied to chellerey's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Have you tried last known good config or booting into recovery console? -
Hello and welcome to the forum. First thing I would do is power off the computer. Disconnect from power outlet. Open her up touch power supply for a few seconds. Give internals a good clean. Make sure if the graphics card is PCI slot then resit it into its slot. Check any internal and external cables or even try diffrent external cables. Download and run Speedfan and psot a screen shot for me please: SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer Let me know how it goes. JB.

Serious performance problems
Jelly Bean replied to deekay64's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hey there your free space appears fine.Although a good cleanup of old files and programs no longer needed would help. Click start/all programs/accesories/system tools/disk cleanup and check all boxes and do a cleanup. Defrag your hard drive. Also can you open command prompt and type in chkdsk /r and hit enter you will proberly get a message cannot run at this time would you like to schedule.Type Y hit enter and restart your computer and let chkdsk /r run. Scan your computer using this online scanner it will tell you what RAM to buy and how much your PC can have installed: Memory upgrades from Crucial.com - About Crucial:Media Toolbox Download this and post results of SpeedFan please a screen shot would be good: SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer -
Hello and welcome. As your monitor works fine on another machine then it appears your GPU is the issue. Do you know if your graphics card is a PCI slot one? If it is try resitting it into its slot and give computer internals a clean while powered off. JB.
