    I have a very nice app called Hawk PE which runs off a usb stick into either WinXP live or a nix varient. I would use this to backup any data I need and then do a complete reinstall.It also has AV to scan anything suspect

    Cant see an edit is it deffo the cpu fan spinning up? do you smoke? whats the condition of the heat sink? ive seen some messy HSF's in my time sucking in the carpet lol

    Hello thought id post here as it appears to be the done thing lol . Been messing around with computers since I was a kid (remember the Atari 800? ;)) My old man used to be an electrical engineer so ive always been surrounded by tech. Got a fair bit of forum tech support experience and a lot of experience in the feild. Dont tend to need help but if I can offer any im up for it :)

    Right click my computer and select manage. Then click event viewer and have a look in system to see if there are any faults around the times of the crashes. Does the systme reboot with the bsod or do you get to see the error code? if you see the code let us know it. If you reboot right click my computer select properties /advanced /start up and recovery then untick auto reboot

    You do not say which fan is making the noise? you say its noticable in games? This could well be the gfx fan . What brand card is it? Perhaps google majorgeeks:everest and install the program and monitor your temps to see if anything is heating up causing the fan to spin up

    Looks like you bought a used faulty cpu .I take it forgranted it matches your board
