hi pharno sorry i didnt read the first post properly.... i take it the sound card is on board.....mmm if it is the jack it is probably gonna be cheaper to change the board then to replace the jack..unless you are good at soldering,and can get the correct jack obviously..... uuuuum is the sound card turned on in the bios,,,,,,long shot if the mic is working but maybe worth a double check. can you give me the make and model of motherboard please so i can take a look. kind regards danzil

i remember this error when installing vista......it points to a device being unplugged or not configured correctly.. can you dissconnect all usb devices then try,,,,,do you have a memory card reader in your pc... kind regards danzil do you have "last known good configuration" option when loading.....try tapping f8 and see if that option is listed.

hi greg. have you made any changes to your system lately...ie software or hardware...... you may want to check that the ide/sata cable is firmly conected to the drives and they are recieving power.... if this does not help then try a system restore. to do this go to start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore.. pick a date previous to this error.then restore... if that doesnt work please post back so i can try to help more.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh i completely forgot how to do this now... right the story is i have a customer (old guy not IT literate),has a win98 laptop with Quicken4 (not compatible with xp which he uses......i have sorted this though). i am trying to write a bat file that will copy all relevant files and folders to the c: drive and then create a shortcut on his desktop for quicken. the only issue i have is i cant remeber the cmd of how to copy from cd... i know copy f:\file c:\file but i dont his drive letter.. in short what is the copy from source command.. i thought it was copy %source% but NOPE i have triedx %cdrom% but guess what NOPE. once i have copied the file to the c:\ (root) the all other commands will work.. i have real brain drain today. any help will be gladly received and returned by me when you have an issue... kind regards to all at pc help danzil sorry i juyst cant remeber lol

firstly as on another post i made...you can install xp using your brothers cd.but not using his license key..... you will need to obtain another license key and then change yours...there is free tool that will change your key to your new one....download that from here http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/PKUInstructions.aspx if the key you are using is not installed on another laptop/pc then you will be allowed to activate it,with no legal concern...if it is installed on your brothers and now yours,,it may still allow you to activate xp,but you will then inadvertvly (mmmm spelling) be breaking the law.. It may be worth speaking with the store you bought the machine from...explain your dissapointment and see if they will remove vista for xp...... kind regards danzil

hi snaily if you did a repair install it will remove service packs 2...thus removing all updates install after it.....(IE7)..i believe....i havnt done a repair install on a system with ie7 but maybe worth a try. kind regards danzil

hi all. i am in need of a place where i can upload a 750mb file (iso). so a free pc help user can download it. is anyone aware of such a place.i do have my own server but my upload speed is rubbish so the download would take way too long... it is so i can upload an "UNTOUCHED" windows xp home cd,no product key included.fully legit cd... your friend could be right.. the latest bios for your board is here http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P4S8X-X read how to flash the bios then read again just to make sure.... flashing the bios is not hard at all...i can see it being a little scary i was scared when i did my first. if i can help you or guide you through it let me know.... asus may use a flash bios utilty that is ran from within windows..these are the easiest. kind regards danzil

are you recieving any of the normal beeps at start up....(bios beeps). what is the make of motherboard... it may be worth removing the cmos battery for 30 mins to allow the bios to clear to factory (doesnt effect your data at all).the cmos battery is a silver round lithium battery usually located around near the power button,hdd led,etc....just pop that out......... as Jamey said ram is definatly a must to check..... Just a little thing,is it a pentium compatible board...have you remebered to plug both motherboard power connections in..... kind regards danzil

have you tried simple thing like making sure you have all the encryption setup correctly...if you are using the belkin software then try just windows.or vice versa...try setting the ssid of the card to the same as the router...may help kind regards danzil

i believe the voyager 210 does not have wireless built in....it has the rj45 (network cable)connetion rj11 (adsl line to master socket) and usb... you can try having the router connected to your pc via the usb connection,then running the ethernet cable from the voyager to the linksys....the linksys shouldnt need any setting up,only the wep key etc..... i have set BT voyagers up succesfully in the past this way...but never with a linksys..... if it is still under guarantee then it may be worth swapping it out for an adls modem/router with wireless..these are cheap enough now.....you can get them for as cheap as £40. kind regards danzil
