  1. OK Let's try this again. I just tested this and it worked fine for me. Double click the exe file. Choose to Run. It will bring up the option to burn to CD and show your optical drive. Click Burn. Let it finish. The disk will now have the folder and files that you listed. Insert the CD and reboot your computer. At bootup it will display the text showing what it is doing. It will not boot into Windows at any time. It took 14 seconds to finish and show that there was no problem on mine. If it does not do that then you have not properly set your BIOS to boot from the CD drive first or have not saved the changes.
  2. Doug that is some really good stuff. I love that pic.
  3. I suspect that you might be reinitializing your modem. Although this is normal from time to time if you have to do it that often it might be time to replace it. This is not my area so check back to see what others have to offer.
  4. First of all stick with the Avira tools for now. Webcurit is an advanced tool. Run the exe Removal tool first. Also read the manual first. Next run the repair tool. You will need to burn it to a CD as an ISO image or to a floppy disk. After that boot up with the CD or floppy in and follow the steps.
  5. With office xp professional installed It might be Outlook versus Outlook Express.
  6. There is very little information on Photo Finale 4 other then what's found on download sites. The developers website is either down or does not exist anymore. http://www.trevoli.com/ The only reason I can think of for Pure Networks Network Magic to be bundled with this is that it's for file or printer sharing on a home network. Either way I would never buy a program if the developer has no website for support or contact information. Just because a download is available on a reputable download sight does not mean it's any good. I'm not saying it's not good but the lack of any contact information disturbs me.
  7. If the site you are dealing with is reputable. The firewall is not the issue as you already allowed an internet connection with it. If your connection is secure on the the transaction then data should be encrypted. HTTPS in the address bar should be a clue. The bottom line is that the company is what you should be concerned with. A firewall that blocks incoming traffic will protect your computer from being read. Outgoing will protect it from being sent. It's safe to shop online if the company is good.
  8. I didn't notice that Clipper had run a diagnostic that produced #10009 replace hard disk. That being the case a new drive should fix the problem. I'm still a bit confused on one point though. Perhaps you can give me some insight on this as I don't understand something. If a hard drive is dead can you still boot to a bootable CD such as the recovery console cd? It seems that was a side issue. Except in Vista it's called the Recovery Environment I think.
  9. I would leave well enough alone Cerenia. They are probably just left over entries in the registry that can do no harm. Since your computer is working well you wouldn't want to do any harm.
  10. I would run chkdsk at this point now that your data is backed up. If it finds errors on your hard drive then it could mean your drive is failing and that's why your boot time is slowing down. How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP. After that I would follow Jack Hacketts advice as it could be too many startup items.
  11. Hi Angel; I'm a little confused about what you are saying. Are you saying you put your drive in another computer and attempted to boot from it? Are you saying you put a drive from another computer into your computer and attempted to boot from it? What exactly does it say on this XP Pro disk that you want to install on your custom built computer and where did your friend get it?
  12. Jay this is looking like a lost cause. I suggest you make every attempt to backup as much data as you can at this point. If you have an EIDE hard drive then slave it and pull off everything. If it's a SATA then hook it upvia a caddy or cable to copy your data off that way. As this is looking like a case of a lost cause hooking your drive to another system via any means might be your best option at this point. If you can do that then a reinstall might solve your problems.
  13. Sorry but we can not offer advice on this software as it violates rule 4 of our policy. Please feel free to post on other subjects or ask for help on other matters. Thanks for your understanding.
  14. Gavin with all due respect this is not only a specific software issue but we also know absolutely nothing about his system or any other specifics. To even stand a remote chance of helping him he will need to join so we can offer first hand support. Useing a go between rarely works. In addition we would need to know much more and even then we might have to just link him.
  15. Over the last month? How long has Norton been installled? Have you tried altering the norton email settings? Is anything else slow? Any new programs installed or anything else come to mind?
  16. Mara pay particular attention to Gokus instructions about NOT using the registry app in CCleaner.
  17. The three most probable causes of a slow booting computer are a failing hard drive, a malware infection or too many startup items. Since you say it's betting getting slower over the course of three months I suspect the drive is failing. Regardless if it is that or not you should play it safe and immediately backup all your data, bookmarks, adress book, etc. There is a possibility that it's malware or startup items but backup that data first. What antivirus and antispyware programs do you have. What are the items that are loading in the taskbar that you keep deleting? When you say taskbar I assume you mean the notification area or system tray at the right of the taskbar.
  18. Hi prodda. Welcome to our little corner of the world. OK It's a big corner. :)
  19. Is it fixed gavin. If so can you tell us what did the trick?
  20. Jonny it needs to burned to a disk as an ISO file. Look here to see if you have the right file.
  21. :) The best song of the moment? I'm afraid that leaves me out. I like all kinds of music from Opera to classic rock. The new ones I know very little about. I guess that shows my age. :)
  22. Mara I suspect this is nothing more then a false positive from the crap scanner. In addition Housecalls online scanner sometimes produces this false positive. It could also be a legitimate service if you have or ever have had certain programs installed. Have you ever had AOL, internet phone call services, a dialup connection etc. installed? The fact that you have good security installed and they detected nothing tells me you should not fret over this one. As far as your browser problems are concerned it is most likely due to your ISP or third party programs and add-ons to your browser. To isolate any programs that might interfere with your browser you will need to start uninstalling programs until you find the culprit. I would start with any extra toolbars you might or might not have.
  23. Just thought I would try to add a little information to this post. It appears that this is the Satellite P200 (PSPB0). Information can be found on the UK Toshiba site. Model number is here. It appears that there is a BIOS update for this model. Disconnecting all devices including docking stations might help.
  24. The camera is not detected via USB connection. USB printer is not working again. Your keyboard is acting up. Is your keyboard USB too layler?
  25. Is Beeceebee confused again Bob? :):)
