  1. For all the games you have listed - stay off the American servers as your speed will be unusable - stick to the UK and European ones - what firewall are you using? and have you set the options within the firewall for the ports recommended by the games? If you are using Punkbuster thats normally the culprit as it slows EVERYTHING to a virtual holt if you have less that 10MB internet
  2. Well its old but not useless - dont expect any form of game to play well on a mobile GPU as it wont :D
  3. Bob - lol at you thinking it was sarcastic - Google desktop takes quite a few hours to 'index' all your files - depending on how many files you have this can take up to 10 hours, when it is done the search function will work - if you look in the bottom right taskbar there is the Google globe right click it and then under indexing there are the options - always best to check the status before you re-index :)
  4. - just a note to this - I ALWAYS replace the standard jumpers with those from old HDD's/CDROMs Alot of MOBO manufacturers fit some and they are not tight at all and cause lots of issues like you have described - they can just wobble lose by the slight vibrations of the PC. If you can - check that the jumpers are tight as I have before now searched for ages looking for a fault that turned out to be this
  5. You have to get the OS to 'see' the drives - Control panel>Admin tools>Computer Management>Disk Management and the 2 drives should be listed - right click and then ACTIVATE
  6. Its Google desktop - :D very handy for searching on your pc
  7. This is normally because people use 'function' key shortcut on Keyboards - there is normally some software running that controls it.
  8. It depends on what the main issue was - if you set say the RAM timings too high or low then when you use 'last known good config' it takes the BIOS back to the factory settings. Sometimes settings can just be awkward - if you havent been playing in the BIOS then, the freezing may return and we will have to diagnose further
  9. Make sure that the leads from the PSU - run DIRECT to the drives - dont use any of those splitters and dont have any fan crossthroughs on the same leads. Check that the cables you are using are correct and that you have the back of the 2 drives set correctly MASTER at the TOP and the SLAVE at the BOTTOM and then connect the IDE lead.
  10. Thats a VERY old Nvidia mobile GPU chip - I am surprised that it plays any games at all
  11. So in 2030 your hands will look like corned beef - if you carry on hitting solid objects
  12. HIS all the time.
  13. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  14. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  15. You shouldn't need to do this manually - checking that you have the latest BIOS normally resolves under performing chip issues.
  16. Ctfmon is the Microsoft process that controls Alternative User Input and the Office Language bar. It's how you can control the computer via speech or a pen tablet, or using the onscreen keyboard inputs for asian languages.
  17. Doug - I always set them all to NEVER - if I leave my PC for any length of time - I turn the monitor off and the speakers by the power buttons.
  18. They come like that as they will run on a 2x2 but if you are using a powerful chip say a Q6600  you should really have a 2x4 in there :D you sure there isnt another 2x2 lurking around as dependant on the PSU manufacturer they use 2x 2x2s or 1x 2x4 if that makes sense That maybe why your computer takes 2-3 counts to boot - I know mine takes 2-3 as its clocked slightly higher than it should be ;)
  19. Its not normally the sound - it's normally the program you are using to run the DVD thats lagging - easiest way to tell is - if the normal windows sounds are ok - its not the sound Let us know if you are using Windows media player or another program and we will go from there
  20. Hmm - set everything to NEVER mate and see how you go - HDD's etc
  21. Hi, Welcome to FPCH :)
  22. Also dont go for the ASUS Xonar - its a complete waste of money - you are far better getting the Creative 70SB073A02007 - Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Sound Card PCI Retail - Scan.co.uk
  23. If you are only getting the error when you are playing the game - the game is asking your hardware to do something it/or the drivers cannot do - Also - Update your GPU drivers as this is a common fault for the error you are getting
  24. Lol - see attached - that Black cap covering the other 4 mate you are meant to take OFF
