  1. There are not normally any issues when reverting from Vista to XP hardware wise as Vista requires much more of everything than XP does - what I think Wolfey is referring to is driver support - If you remove Vista and you do not have XP drivers for your hardware available then you are in trouble. Going from XP to Vista is easy - the other way round is not recommended - I am unsure of you can still do this now but when people were buying any form of system with Vista on and they HATED it then you just contacted the manufacturer of the system and they sent you an XP disk with a list of drivers no questions asked - as Vista is not in its infancy anymore I am unsure if this is now being done?
  2. Im sorry to say the the 7 series GPU is dreadfully slow anyway. the drivers that the Nvidia site lists are the 178.24 dated 15th Oct 08 are these the ones you have on your C drive? You should always disable the Onboard GPU in the BIOS when using an add in card.
  3. Wait, I have an even better one http://www.onlinedct.com/madPCtech.gif
  4. No laptop in the £1000 region will play those games at a decent resolution. Desktops are by far the best way - unless you have limited space and need to have the PC mobile - if thats the case then you need a lappy - but dont expect anything good gaming wise from a lappy they have very limited GPU's and they struggle even more with keeping them cool. Whatever you decide - you need only 2 components:- an Intel CPU and an ATI GPU - they are the fastest offer more performance for the price - all the other components are what you personally require from them

  23. The spec that you listed is fine BUT AMD CPU's are no where near as powerful as Intel's offerings. A new MOBO can cost as little as £50, but then you need to set a realistic budget and I can spec a PC for you. Include everything that you need and I will do this as cheaply as possible and please state the main use for the PC :)
