I received this email from a friend today. Having never used AIM myself, I found this problem is very peculiar indeed and I could not find a solution to it. Thought I would better leave it to the experts. Any suggestions on what he can try to resolve the problem? Thanks in advance. :) -- Goku

Black screen startup flashing cursor - HELP
Goku replied to zkm1223's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Sorry to jump in but it seems that you have not installed XP at all. Did you install a new hard drive? -- Goku -
I think, you can try a browser re-install. I tested the links myself in Internet Explorer and they work fine. However, I doubt re-installing the browser will help much. Anyways, try it and see if that resolves the problem or not. Good Luck. :) -- Goku

OK, let me understand this. Whatever media player you use to play an audio file, you get an error message for the first time. However, when you try to open it the second time, the file plays fine. Is this summary right? -- Goku

I think it is a plug-in issue for certain. Lets try this again. Please download Adobe Flash Player from here. Install the plug-in. Make sure all current browser Windows are closed. Restart the browsers and test the sites. Do they work or not? -- Goku

Sorry for the sex confusion, Zism. :) If you have the licence key for your XP discs, then format Vista and go ahead with XP. As I said, it is not really worth the hassle to get Vista up and running. If you don't have the key to your XP discs or they are an OEM copy, then please let us know and we will look for alternate solutions. This is because unregistered and OEM copies don't work on all computers and therefore may further increase your trouble. Hope that clears your confusion. -- Goku

I just wanted to confirm whether you were having the problem with that particular site or every flash site. :) I could only go till Average. :D What browser did you use though? -- Goku

OK, the first and foremost step you should take is to backup all your important data on external media like flash drives and CDs / DVDs. Make sure the data is retrievable when you need it. Next, you will need to buy a replacement drive. This drive will serve as a replacement when your current hard drive eventually fails. You might not want to buy one at this time, but sooner or later, you will need to buy one so there is no point delaying the purchase. If you have doubts on how to backup your data, you might find the following article useful: What backup program should I use? Hope that helps. :) -- Goku
