  5. Its in my avatar..but i think it could be a great campaign for all the crap ms takes - day in - day out... when they are 95% of what everyone uses has got to stop MS - we are YOU might be a good campaign*without doing the apple - cut up the competition route if not that - something that is self depreciating - but still - ok weve had enough ridicule! chill. ? edit - took out caps... 6. *developers, developers, developers! Are there any parts or pieces of C9 - that 9ers could help out on? Seems funny - its for developers - but i bet alot of people here would help for free. This has been brought up before - but Evnet was building the core engine so no time for ideas like this but now that v4 is nearing completion - and as mentioned by hc*- new features might not take too long anymore... could it be time to revisit letting the community have more leverage/access to building out the rest of v4? Perhaps there could be a way to identify say... 3 areas where users could be apart of the 9team: - BASIC simple themes* (header image, and css only) - add on functionality (like photoshop plugins (c9 pluggins) - tasks team doesnt have time for - but that they want / have approved I know id make lots of themes... Im sure many would write c9 search plugins or what have you and I bet any feature you dont have time for - but want - would be written by the coders here within ...hours. is it time to revisit a ... "limited" participation program for c9 would it help move things forward faster? would it be too confusing? would YOU help if avail? ? edit: we could be Gyros - just for one day ;) edit2:* ...the main thought being... if MS were ever to ...open up a bit.. and have a property that is them and user/devs... wouldnt the most logical "property" be.. c9? *id do this at microsoft.com too (asap).. but ..we'll...work up to that ;) MS Press release: Dont pick on us anymore - as our customers make 1/2 this stuff! sorry...: Microsoft (MSFT) today announced a new type of developer program to be available on its evangelist site Channel9. Under the new program, certain parts of the Channel9 experience are opened up - to accomodate **ideas, graphics and features from its developer network of programmers (the largest in the world). "We are not sure how this will work out" said Jeff Sanquist "but are willing to give it a try to see what happens" As of this writing over 900 people have signed up to be a part of the eXPeriment. 13. This is my first WCF service and it is running on my development machine (XP Pro SP2) under IIS, I am using wsHttpBinding. (I will eventually put it onto a Windows 2003 Server running under IIS on the server as an Intranet application).*The strange is I've stepped through the code in the WCF service, it makes the call to the SQL Server database, it retrieves the data and puts it into the DataTable object, and then I close the connection and dispose of it (with using)*and return the DataTable. It seems to do all of that just fine, no errors or problems at all. However, in looking at the returned error message (received in the client) I get the following: "The underlying connection was closed: The connection was closed unexpectedly." (Which, frankly I do not understand. The connection closing is not "unexpected". I closed it, very intentionally. I was done with it, so why does it say this???) According to the stack dump the InnerException has this error message: "The message could not be processed. This is most likely because the action 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2005/02/trust/RST/SCT/Cancel' is incorrect or because the message contains an invalid or expired security context token or because there is a mismatch between bindings. The security context token would be invalid if the service aborted the channel due to inactivity. To prevent the service from aborting idle sessions prematurely increase the Receive timeout on the service endpoint's binding." I generated the proxy class and config file using the SvcUtil.exe function, and they also use wsHttpBinding. And I've put in some FaultException calls to return to the client any errors occuring in the service, but none of those are being reached.* So it really looks to me as though the problem isn't with the service so much as it is with the client, or something in between.* So I don't know what's going on here or why.* More... 18. I've been thinking about this problem for a while and don't know how to solve it without using strings... The method looks like this... double Format(double d, double precision) { ***... } d is the double I want to format and precision is how it needs to be formatted for example: d = 2.06 precision = 1.0 returns: 2 d = 36.04 precision = 1.0 returns: 6 d = 36.04894 precision = 2.3 returns: 36.048 It's only a few lines of code if I convert the two parameters to strings, but I feel like there must be a mathematical approach to solve this problem too...any ideas? :| More...
