  2. Part three in my short series on Workflow Foundation covers service enabling workflows. Service enabling a workflow doesn’t necessarily mean WCF, though WCF is certainly an option. In this screencast we look at leveraging services to enable activities that can run in various host environments. This is a continuation from part 2, so you may want to view that screencast first if you haven’t seen it. Part 1:** From Code Activity to Custom Activity Part 2:**Activity Defaults and Validation Files: Service Enabled Sample Files http://channel9.msdn.com/Photos/400911.jpg Watch the screencast(WMV) More... 8. I’m working on my first implementation of LINQ to SQL.* I am curious to know about the connection string used by LINQ when making a connection to the SQL Server database.* I’ve got a strongly typed DataContext class, and looking at the Connection property’s ConnectionString property it looks identical to an ADO.NET connection string to the database.* I see that the DataContext base class has several constructors, of which one is just a string connect parameter (in C#) (actually, according to the online documentation, it is “file or server or connection”).* This, plus what I’ve seen with the Connection.ConnectionString property, suggests that I could pass in a different ADO.NET connection string if I wanted to, when instantiating the strongly typed DataContext object. I want to verify that what I’m thinking is correct, please. I am using Visual Studio 2008 Pro. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  10. Noticed that when I lose connectivity on my computer at home(Vista Home Premium), I'm running MusicMatch 10. After 20 minutes to an hour it's fine, then the blue globe disappears from the network icon in the status bar. Then a minute later it's the yellow warning. Means I have to reboot to connect. How can MusicMatch 10 do this? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  14. Since IE team members continue to insist that favicons are not broken in IE7, I can only come to the conclusion that Google has taken over Channel9, and possibly Microsoft as well. http://www.ookii.org/misc/G9.png That's definitely more likely than IE7's favicons being buggy. Since that's just impossible. They fixed it for IE7 and now it works flawlessly, as you can plainly see. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  19. ON or about April 11th, I posted a thread about ASP.NET 3.5 vs 2.0 and questioning the versioning of ASP.NET. It has mysteriously vanished -- or at least it isn't in my list of posted threads and the search utility comes up empty. Has anyone else had threads go missing? Maybe I've been blacklisted. I'm such a troublemaker i know. Here's the graphic I posted with it: http://www.acheson-creative.com/aspnet.JPG More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  21. Hello there, basically I do something simple.... I build an executable and I ask it to export symbols, just like a dll. Then the lib generated is used to build a dll. At runtime, the executable will do a LoadLibrary on the dll generated. This works fine on Windows Desktop, or Symbian for example. When I tried that in eVC4 a few years ago, it didn't work. All the compiling and linking gave no problem at all, everything fine. However at run time, the LoadLibrary returned a NULL pointer. The only workaround I found was to split my executable in a very small executable and a big dll. Then, building the plugin dll, linking to a dll, not an executable, it could be retrieved by the LoadLibrary. Having switched to Visual Studio 2005, I gave it a try, and it's still the same problem. Instead of having an executable and a plug in dll, I have an executable and a dll, plus the plugin dll. Is there any reason it doesn't work in Win CE ? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
