Hey guys. I have been doing a bit of freelance-ish work foor a person i know, which I'm getting paid for. It's a simple cms solution in Ruby on Rails(Bite me, it's an awesome framework and Ruby is fairly nice), with a login page and then it just replaces the labels with a rich text editor, and stores the html in the database. I didn't really take note of how much time i*spend making it, nor do i actually know what to charge per hour. Since I'm a student(17 years old),*I can't charge that much. without loading XP i thought it was cause of quad ...* or Vista ... or threading ... or the new one i tried today: starting the game then minimizing and setting afinity to only one processor under processes i thought it was sound accelration.. i thought it was something to do with opengl... i thought it was intel, or nvidia, or ms to blame... i found out all i had to do was only use one monitor opengl doesnt seem to support more than one screen (i dont know if thats why) but now quake 3, doom,, serious sam et all work - super fast on my new monitor (first time using it today for games) playing*serious sam 2* :) *i did try that before - but i had changed compat mode for quake - which didnt*load on one monitor - but i removed it and it worked anyway - if anyone says any of their opengl games have a 3 second stutter... tell them to try one monitor (so simple... yet was so hard to figure out!) edit: *remember - on my last machine p4/hyperthreading - all the above games worked - even with 3 monitors. I've got a class which inherits System.Web.UI.Form (and a few other control classes) in a separate assembly. When my Web Application references the assembly (and I add the reference to Web.config under ) most of the controls in the assembly show up in the HTML/ASP.NET Intellisense window. But some of the controls (including my custom form control) don't. Furthermore, when I type them in by hand the IDE doesn't recognise them and spits out: Warning*** 1*** Generation of designer file failed: Unknown server tag 'W3b:Form'.*** Z:\proj\Foo\Default.aspx*** 16*** 0*** W3b.Foo.Web I've rebuilt everything several times, ensured all the attributes are fine, and restarted the IDE even more times, all to no help. Recently, my computer (running Vista Ultimate) does not discover my network (wired) sometimes when I start up my computer. I have to restart it a couple of times before it finally realizes it's connected to a network. In my event log, the only error message that's listed when this happens is: "Windows Firewall was unable to notify the user that it blocked an application from accepting incoming connections on the network." The "application" is lsass.exe according to event details. Now, the only thing I remember doing before all this happened was installing Albany (which came with Live OneCare). Immediately after, I started experiencing this problem. Since then, I've removed OneCare and the problem persists. Any ideas why I'm having this problem? I'm right now convinced it's a firewall issue, like an app trying to use the network before the Firewall is loaded, and Vista locking down network resources, but I'm not sure. More...
