One of those gadget related tasks that I have avoided to this point was to upgrade ny unlocked iPhone to the laterst firmware (I was on 1.02 and hadn't seen anything that really made the upgrade a must up to this point).* Anyway, to cut a long story short, part of the upgrade process involved instaling Java - no problem in theory.* What did erk me though was that I also got an unexpected*free install of the Google toolbar with my Java install.* So I probably should be posting this on a Google forum sonewhere with a message like 'cmon guys, this just isn't on ..'* Does anyone from Google read this forum? http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/10/business/10slipstream.html Mr. Montgomery, a veteran product manager who has also worked as a computer industry writer and editor, is an example of how it just might be possible to teach dinosaurs to dance. Last fall, his team introduced an intriguing software Web service called Popfly that is intended to make it possible for nonprogrammers to plug together Web components and data sources quickly to create useful new Web services. For example, news feeds could be added to digital images, or data lists to maps. Introduced at the Web 2.0 conference last year by Steven A. Ballmer, Microsoft’s chief executive, Popfly was picked by PC World magazine as one of the most innovative computing and consumer electronics products of 2007. It has garnered more than 100,000 users — the company says the exact number is confidential — and now has a library of more than 50,000 “mashups”: new components or Web pages that have been created in a visual snap-together fashion, like Lego blocks. The mashup is at the heart of a generation of Lego-style software that is emblematic of the second generation of the Internet. Both Google and Yahoo have developed tools to help Web users display apartment rentals on maps, or build complicated Web sites like TripTouch.com, which is intended to offer diverse local information for travelers. The Popfly programmers, however, have gone a step further in an effort to design a tool that is intended for a generation of Web users who are familiar with the Internet but are not skilled programmers. http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/02/06/ms-cuts-windows-features MS was keen on having DX11 be part of Windows 7. DX10, which whiletechnically pretty nifty, is saddled with Vista as an arm twist mechanism, so itis taking off like a water buffalo with bunions and a weight problem. For Windows 7, MS basically pulled the mandatory DX11 requirement at thebehest of one company that basically whined a lot. History tells us that if youthrow a hissy fit, MS will screw itself over and cave in, look what they did toneuter DX10 when NV got all pouty. Now DX11 is gone, and the debate is aboutDX10, and whether it will even be mandatory More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

Well, after a day out I made a jump and bought a D-Link 710. I'd been eyeing it up online, and hey, I've got holidays, so I thought now would be a good time for Xbox Live. After the palaver with the Asus, I was expecting a little bit of frustration; as in nothing would work. I was wrong. I plugged it in, shoved the software in and it *worked*. It's a cleaner UI than the Asus' It's a simpler router than the Asus It looks better than the Asus And I'm about to plug in Xbox Live :D Updates will follow... More... You can know more about it by referring here. <font face="Times New Roman" size=3>http://ms-os.com/http://www.oursdownload.com/dvd-to-iphone-1.jpg" /> 2.Insert the DVD you'd like to convert to your computer's DVD drive. <font face="Times New Roman" size=3>http://ms-os.com/http://www.oursdownload.com/dvd-to-iphone-2.jpg" /> 3. Click 'File' menu and 'Open DVD', or directly hit 'Open DVD' button to load the DVD. Set the profile to be iPhone 480*320 mpeg-4 video which is the default DVD video quality. 4. Click around in the DVD's menu to set up DVD playback as you like, select the subtitle and audio sound tracks etc, then begin to play the movie through the software by click the play button. 5. The following window will pop up. Here, you can rename 'Title Name', set 'Save Path' and output quality, then click 'Yes' button to start ripping DVD to iPhone MP4 or iPhone H264 video from the point that the movie starts. That is all. Ok. Im a student. I dont actually use Visual studio for commercial use, despite the fact the express FAQ states its allowed. So im using Express, as i cant afford anything else. Now, Express has very few features. I miss unit testing, code rush, etc. etc. I have no problem with Express being a stripped down version for enthusiasts and hobbyists. But if i cant extend the shell with extensions like some of the excellent unit testing tools, and my beloved coderush, its a deal breaker for me. I see absolutely no reason why they wouldnt allow extensions. It makes me sad. So im either forced to not use all these great tools, or go buy an absurdly expensive license. I thought you got the hint with VS05 guys. But well. I was mistaken. Next time, consider who your user base is. Hobbyists in particular WANTS to extend and tweak their shell. Dont stop them. More...
