  1. We have WIndows 2000 Pro SP4 installed.* We will not be u[grading.* We've installed a new DVDRW into the system but find that the autoplay abilities when inserting the DVD into the drive isnt consistently working and the video player we want set isnt being autoloaded when it does autoplay. What tool can i use or the location i can go to to definitiuvely set the autoplay ability of the DVDRW for DVD movies and where can i set it so that Media Player Classic (the hacked better Media Player) can play them?* Again the system is Windows 2000 Pro SP4. I've already tried installed Windows Media Player 9 and even Media Player Classic (ste to play DVD videos) but everytime the default(?) win2k dvd player seems to popup.* Thats if autoplay even kicks in. 13. could we please have that feature? due to server errors (server too busy, internal server error,et.) sometimes it happens that people post twice and it also happens that when you answer to somebody else's post in the meanwhile it could been changed making your answer become no longer valid. being able to delete your post would be much more elegant than just having to replacing your post with empty text also being able to delete your own threads could be useful when you post something about a news that has been already posted by someone else, which happens quite often here on c9, or when you realize you posted a question of which you already found the answer. 14. Hi all.* I was wondering if any of you were unlucky enough to have had this problem, but lucky enough to find a way to fix it.* First, a little background, I have VS05, SP1, VSTO, and Office 2003 successfully deployed on my laptop with XP sp2.* so.. I let curiosity get the better of me and built a fresh Vista machine (business standard), and started the long process of installing the development platform on the vista box - overcoming the hurdles of service packs and patches and updates, etc., etc. The problem is that now that everything seems to be up and running fine, but the Windows Automatic Update service keeps trying to install the last update for VS05, even though it says in the history that it has installed successfully (I think its "kb932232").* I have tried turning off the UAC, downloading the file and installing manually with elevated priveleges ("run as..."), I even tried running it in safe mode with elevated priveleges and it wouldn't work since it needs the networking or access to the web or something. I don't mind installing updates, but after 18 installs of the same thing (with some reboots, even though it's not asking for them), it's getting a little tedious.* Especially when it totally consumes all the available resources to do it.* I've tried scouring the web and bugging my co-workers, but to no avail. you are my last hope, obi-wan More... 21. Whilst choosing a Calendar/Date picker for a webapp I'm writing, I stumbled upon this nicity. Granted, it's not as powerful as ASP.NET AJAX's Calendar picker, it's a lot simpler and easier to work with, and doesn't involve gutting your project to get ASP.NET AJAX to work. ...plus it fits in with my Mootools libraries (strongly recommended if you've already written Adapters for all the controls already). My app uses the user's selected culture for every occasion it handles dates, which is useful. So date filtering and dates in forms all use the user's selected ShortDateFormat string. ...but shock-horror! The picker I've selected can only parse PHP's date format strings. For the record, PHP's date strings are just as flexible as .NET's, but use one character per token, making them easier to parse. That said, I took it upon myself to write a converter class so I can use the current user's format settings with this calendar picker. ...I get it to use it by writing the current culture's date format string in a block on the page itself. Anyway, voila (and thanks to Maurits with devising the algo to work with edge conditions). using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Text; using DictSS = System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary; namespace W3b.MortCal { public static class DateFormatConverter { public static String ToPhPString(String s) { // tokenize string // split the string into tokens whereever there's a character delta // or where the string is List tokens = new List(); StringBuilder currentToken = new StringBuilder(); for(int i=0;i
