Has anyone here been asked to write documentation describing all the unit tests they have done on their code, for QA to review, with pass/fail signoffs on everything? The reason I ask is because I've never been asked to do this kind of documentation, and it's not even "unit tests" they are asking about, what they really mean is some functional testing done on a web application that covers the use cases, but "not in as much detail" as the QA teams test cases.* I sent QA a draft of what I think they wanted, and asked for feedback "because I've never had to write this kind of documentation and I'm not sure if this is what you want", and got back a reply, "I'm surprised that you do not understand ... I'd expect a developer to know what unit tests are and to have done this for all your code in the past" with a CC to my project manager, which was basically trying to make me look bad, and that basic kind of attitude.* I replied that our definitions of "unit test" were completely different....* Wondering if there's any opinion, because I am really pissed off right now. In the geekSpeak, C++ expert, Kate Gregory answers questions about the Vista Bridge.* This is a little-known, hidden gem found the in the Windows Vista SDK.* This show has little or no C++ content and is aimed at*.Net dev who want to access cool 'Vista*goodness' without the C++/CLI approach. Here's more about Kate: Kate Gregory has been the Microsoft regional director (RD) for Toronto since January of 2002, and is a founding partner of Gregory Consulting. She has almost three decades of scientific and engineering programming experience in a variety of programming languages. Her recent programming work is almost exclusively in Microsoft Visual C++ and Visual Basic .NET, on a variety of projects, for both enterprise and independent software vendor (ISV) clients. Kate is the author of over a dozen books including 'Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003 Kick Start' (Sams, 2003). She teaches .NET, XML, UML, and C++, and is in demand as an expert speaker on tours for Microsoft Canada, and sessions in the United States, Europe, and Africa. Kate is a founding sponsor of the Toronto .NET Users Group, the founder of the East of Toronto .NET Users Group, a member of the INETA speakers bureau, and a member of adjunct faculty at Trent University in Peterborough. She has been awarded the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) designation for Visual C++, and won the Regional Director of the year award in 2005. http://channel9.msdn.com/Photos/373839.jpg Watch the screencast(WMV) More... One of the nifty things about Flash is its fast vector drawing API and the ability to manipulate in-scene objects for maximum effect. Enter Phong.com, the website of a famed Photoshop master and Flash-math god. (For the good stuff, check under "Astro") Anyone want to try to create a Wpfong.com? Since .NET (and consequently, WPF) are compiled, would you get better performance? (Granted, I've known about Phong.com since 2001, but his stuff still impresses to this day). Actually, scratch the bit about WPF since that's seriously beefy. How about WPF/E aka Silverlight? Since that's a better competitor to Flash. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

We'd love to be able to correlate some data from a download with the initiating browser session.* Our idea is as follows: 1) Generate some cookie in the browser 2) Write a custom action that searches for the cookie in IE and FF cookie storage locations. 3) Extract the cookie data and enjoy! Anyone tried this before?* Any obvious problems with this approach? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

Sometimes I use my notebook attached to a docking station and sometimes I walk around using a wireless connection. So I've got both network connections configured in Windows Vista. I'd like to configure it in a way that once it is attached to the docking station it does NOT use the wireless network connection but instead uses the LAN one. Is there anyway of doing so? Currently I work around this issue by manually disabling the wireless connection anytime the notebook sits in the docking station. Hints are greatly appreciated. Maybe there's a small free tool which allows to easily switch between connections? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

Hello all, I am looknig for some recommendations for my Windows 2003 server R2 version. The primary role of this machine is that of a File server and TS Server. First off I am looking for an Antivirus program. Recently tried Avast Server Edition and had to remove it. The problems it caused me with TS and copying files from a remote machine to the server using the \tsclient method made my server crash and reboot. Secondly I am looking for software to partition my drives. The Dell SC440*I ordered had it's C partition set to 12 gigs of which I now have only 3.25 free, thanks Dell! BTW, the drive has a capacity of 250 gigs so it's not like I did not have the room for a beefier C partition but I digress. I want to safely re-size the C partition by borrowing some of that 219 gigs sitting around doing nothing on my other partition. So there it is, I welcome all suggestions. Thanks in advance. More... I watched Jobs' Keynote two nights ago with my wife, and as It progressed I felt the urge get stronger and stronger to switch from PC to Mac. It wasn't just the Mac though, it was the AppleTV Take2, the Time Capsule, Wireless backups, etc. So during the Keynote, I have the overwhelming urge to switch, but then after it, as a day passes, I'm back to normal :) Anybody else get the same feeling whilst watching a Jobs Keynote? I blame subliminal messages! :) More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
