  2. Author: Hi, I am Daniel Moth :-) Introduction: With Visual Studio 2008 you can debug right into the .NET Framework libraries source code. Watch this video to learn how. You can read more about this by following the links from my blog post here. Video download: Click on the image to play the video (from a streaming Silverlight wmv file). If you'd prefer to download a non-Silverlight wmv packaged in a zip file, you may do so here. http://channel9.msdn.com/Photos/373468.jpg Watch the screencast(WMV) More... 5. Hello, Just thought i'd share my experence with dedicated servers with you at my expense. Firstly on my travels it was all about money. The cheaper the better for a business or is it? Well I came across the cheapest Windows Virtual Server on the internet vpsland.com thought wow this sounds good. Signed up $25 dollars later disappointed. Why? Support really ent 24/7 poor english in support emails. Server dies randomly? so much for 100% reliabilty. Scrap that a server needs to be on all the time and work properly. Further downside were...could not install latest windows updates because get what? Key was not valid and they replied to my support email with "it will break your server". Furthermore, VPN could not be setup and you could not mount ISO images. GoDaddy Dedicated - WOW! GoDaddy that looks cheap $123 dollars for a dedicated server. Read the sales pitch sounded good, "Complete Control", "Do Anything" wow jolly good need to get this £61 ($123)*and 24hrs later again no good. All ports wide open SQL Server completley facing the internet which I dont like as far as im concerned SQL Server should be accessed by VPN only when used remotley down the internet. But the big one...you cant install e-mail services to the server. Why not? Oh thats because port 25 blocked (all others opened just about). To use email you must puchase there email service which uses there own mail server. They charge you for the emails you send out and you can bring them to your server. So not happy there. Emailed asking them to cancel my account and give me a refund but no reply. The last support email i sent i got an email 19 hours later?! So GoDaddy I would not recommend. My final quest...Keep it UK!!! I decided rather then take advantage of the pound been so strong against the dollar i'll look further home and get a more expensive UK services now my choices where Fasthosts Rackspace 123-Reg 1&1 After researching these servers I found 1&1 to be the best deal but was tempted just to use fasthosts. Rackspace support is top class but they quoted $350 a month for less of a server then 1&1 so that was out of budget. Just signed up to 1&1 for a 24 month contract so thats been setup now so i'm hoping this is going to be the one for me paying a little more but seems to be worth it. So anybody considering a VPS or dedicated server this may help you. Also i noticed lycos doing VPS's for £7 a month running linux which i thought was good value. Anyway rant over, Rob More... 8. Though not as glamorous as*Ramsey's Campaign For Real Gravy - I thought Id take a shot at a polite request for more vista themes / media player skins. It has been - what seems like - a very long time. I had hoped SP1 for vista might contain some themes - but it appears to only offer bug fixes and speed improvements. *many here already know i am pining for a more cheerful blue theme.. or even the black tuner skin (in vista) So - this thread is a "nice" petition - to please*release more themes/skins for vista. *as it is a petition... please only reply/sign if you agree. To disagree - don't post. + jamie More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  11. It looks like MIDI ports on soundcards don't work anymore in Vista.* https://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=716672&SiteID=17 I just out in an old SBLive! Value in my computer and the sound drivers where found but it doesn't find any drivers for the MIDI port.] Creative says that it's not going to bother updating the drivers for these old cards anyway. I don't care about the sound output of this card (I was going to disable it anyway) I just want the MIDI. Is there no hope in Vista 32bit? Do people use USB MIDI adapters in Vista? More... 17. Well, I have been reading all these benchmarks, and most of them seem flawed. I know at times, Vista can be slower, but personally I think, that it isn't all the time. There are things I like about Vista and things I don't. I did a personal benchmark with the same hardware, clean install, and used PC Mark 05 and 3D Mark 01. I ran all the test 3 times. All from a cold start, so there was no caching from a restart or what ever there might be. Just thought I would share my results and hopefully I don't get judged, that this is a flawed test. Everything thing is ran with the latest drivers and all set to default, no optimizing was done. So here is the test... 18. Hi all, today I upgraded my PSU to a Tagan 480W (TG-480-U01) but it is extremely loud. At power on, the PSU is fairly quiet but as soon as the OS is loaded (Vista Ultimate). 19. This has been annoying me recently: I have Messenger Plus! Live, and this will save msn chat logs for me. It says them in realtime i.e. if my session crashes any messages I received that I didn't see before the crash are logged. Windows Live Messeners "off the shelf" chat logging system does not do this. It logs the entire chat in one go when I close the window. Therefore if I crash, or do not close it properly, my conversation isn't logged. Why not? Isn't this a bit stupid? Time for a visit to connect me thinks. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
