The post does say 'at this time', but come on. :( http://blogs.msdn.com/msdnsubscriptions/archive/2008/01/14/windows-home-server-a-follow-up.aspx I wish I hadn't bought my home server now.* I've been anxious to start developing an add-in for it, but I refuse to do it on my actual home server.* I've got too many important files and backups on it.* It is sitting there taunting me to screw it up. I'm very disappointed by this decision.* I think the limited number of add-ins for it is due to the lack of availability on MSDN. I'm a huge MS advocate and I convinced my mgmt team to buy MSDN licenses for all of our developers, but I keep having to explain to*mgmt that not all developer/development related products are on MSDN after I told them they were.* The last big mess was the Expression Suite.* At least they don't care about WHS, but the development team all bought one and they are all ticked too. Hello. One of my users is claiming that my application slows down during a certain time period (22:00 - 22:30) and then is OK again. Is there any (hopefully free) application that I could leave running on their machine, that will log the Resource (eg CPU, Memory, Network) usage, say, every 3 minutes? that way I will hopefully see if my app is balooning at some point and slowing the machine temporarily, or if there are some other factors at work. What I find particularly strange is that they claim it is time related, not usage-related, e.g. they may use it more intensely at 8pm, and all will be ok. oh, and there is no anti-virus software, or scheduled tasks as far as i know... Classic, im at an event this afternoon when the poop hits the fan. I need to do some quick formatting to an excel sheet. So you use the new conditional formatting tool. You try making a simple if statement there. Doesnt work what so ever. For example, make a sheet, A1 = 1, A2 = 2, A3 = conditional formatting, make your own rule. If(A1>A2) set your format red. Wont do it. I understand the value isnt in the cell im trying to change, but why does that matter? If thats the case, dont let me make my own rule. So im stuggling to get the colors. So I sort by val, sack it im in a rush, I need to get all Negative numbers green and positive red. So I have about 2000 values ranging from -£4,000 ish to +£1000 so I sort on the value and expand the selection. Why o why, does it not sort? Negatives are in with the positives and vice versa. Its quite close, but they are still mashed in together. So conditional formatting you cant make your own rule, so why add that feature. If you sort on currency lowest to highest, it just doesn't sort correctly. YES I could go in the code and code all of this nicely within half hour or so to get it perfect. But my point is you have given me the tools so that I dont have to do that. They dont work lol More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

Saw it last night. I thought it was very good, though a little sensationalist in places. Still one of the best documentary-ish type things he's done. It was very odd seeing an American's view of our National Health Service; especially since we seem to spend a lot of our press space complaining about it. Still having seen the alternative, I for one, count myself very lucky. Though not as lucky as the French and Cubans apparently ... :| More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

There is a community that I've been enjoying with is about to end for various reason (e.g. lack of members from new generations, most of the current main workforce are graduated and busy on their life affairs, etc.). The leaders announced the final project that will be finished before they leave. I'm a bit motivated to quit my current job (which I'm not quite happy with anyway) to dive in that project... After all it'd be the last one and perhaps it's good to burn the remaining energy and love for it... I must be crazy... perhaps... More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

Catalyst8.1 introduces MultiView™ support. This feature provides for hardwareaccelerated OpenGL rendering across multiple graphics adapters.MultiView™ will provide hardware accelerated 3D rendering in a systemcontaining multiple graphics cards on an extended desktop arrangement. This feature will allow for the rendering performance and additionalframe buffer resources to be evenly shared with the second and thirdgraphics adapters. This allows for a 3D application to have the sameperformance running on a secondary or third display device as if itwere running on the primary display device. sounds pretty useless unless you play each day on a different display :( it also fixes all the AGP problems with videocards somebody on this forum was having with his radeon card More... When I made a new icon for this small application that I am writing, when I added an icon to the project, not all of them get into the executable.* Approximately between Small and Medium icons, instead of my icon, I see a blurry blue and white window icon, and I made sure that my icon had the 256x256 PNG-compressed, 96, 64, 48, 40, 32, and 16px icons included.** What could be causing this? I went out and bought the Monster Cable XBOX 360 Component Video Pack, not realizing that my tv doesn't support it. My TV does have component inputs, but since it isn't HD, doesn't support any of the native HD formats, so this cable is useless to me. All I really wanted was the digital audio anyway. I'll trade my Brand new (Still in the box) for your used (in good condition) XBOX 360 S-video kit (from any manufacturer), as long as it supports optical audio. My kit includes component video and optical audio jacks with high-performance cables. http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/wildwestelectronics_1983_114045645 http://www.monstercable.com/gl_images/dotGrey.gifGameLink 360 for ultimate picture from your video games and DVD movies.http://www.monstercable.com/gl_images/dotGrey.gifLightWave 100 outperforms ordinary analog audio connections.http://www.monstercable.com/gl_images/dotGrey.gifFiber optic connection allows you to take advantage of Xbox 360's Dolby Digital and DTS capabilities.http://www.monstercable.com/gl_images/dotGrey.gifNitrogen gas-injected dielectric delivers maximum signal strength for the sharpest picture possible.http://www.monstercable.com/gl_images/dotGrey.gif24k gold contacts maximize signal transfer and corrosion resistance. everyone who commented it couldnt be done was correct. * this was an idea i had to track the usage of any given UI over the life span of a human... i started to try to make a chart - to show what i was picturing... in corel i made a chart... ha. so - where to start,* ages. so i put: 1-10, 10-20, -20-30, 30-40, 40- 50, 50-60, 60+ so seven groups (hmmm windows 7... sorry!)* that would be tracked for 60 years - with new decade groups coming in / being added by decade. this would mean the 20 year windows group - doesnt get 2 paragraphs of text to read when they copy files... they are tracked - as knowing this already anyway - it wont work because i wanted to have options for ... example: Choose room / usage: den, kitchen, car... or..* throw in variables of male - female, businessman or musician.. and it just grows to be unworkable. all in all - what i was really saying was - removing luna from vista - wasnt a good idea. that is the "classic" now. and removing toolbars in office - no matter how cool the new idea is - wasnt cool either i was searching for a way for software - to know - who is using what - at what level of xperience.. and still offering all the new stuff - maybe even 3d UI's... just not... forced. so i thought - if there was a UI framework* - that extends to kids, or dens, or seniors... you can see how it quickly gets confusing. Ill close in saying - i obviously failed in providing any answer, but if you really are competing with apple and linux - then quadruple your design efforts...* linux is all about code (no good graphics yet) and apple is providing good graphics (that you could beat) More...
