  1. Hi Debbie Click Start > type in .....webcam .....ENTER You should see an image. ( upside down ? ) There should be a cog ( gear ) looking icon > click on this. At the top are two tabs ............one of these should be "Camera Control" Click on the "Default" button. Is this any help ?
  2. Hi and welcome to ExTS Remove the SATA drive connection from the motherboard and disconnect the power to it. Take the XP drive out completely. Disconnect the DVD drives' data cables from the motherboard and unplug the power connections. You should have ONLY the hard drive that has Win 8 / Win 7 on it connected. Try booting up now. What is the response ?
  3. My apologies - I missed your reply in post #3  Thanks for the pic. I see what you mean when you say it is "Blacked Out". Try seedy21's suggestion .......... if you still have a problem post back. I will try not to miss it :)
  4. There are 5 LEDs ....... ON / Off / Flashing ? I needed to know if you are wireless / wired and the state of the LEDs to see if you could actually communicate with the device. ( I am working from the manual as I have no experience of this type of device )
  5. Get back to us when the adapter arrives :)
  6. How do you get into the extender software ? There are 5 LEDs on the front of the extender box .... From the top ( Signal Strength ) what state are they ...........ON / flashing / Off ....... ?
  7. Hi download Speccy from here click here You want the free version. Make sure you don't elect to install the Google Toolbar - unless you want it :) Click on "Network" and scroll down to Adapters List Copy what is there and paste it here please. It should show both the Wireless and the Ethernet adapters.
  8. OK - Back to the BIOS Advanced Settings ( or similar ) You are looking for "Boot Floppy Seek" ............and anything else related to Floppy Drive This needs to be disabled. http://www.offertagratis.com/images/stories/software/boot%20up%20floppy%20seek.jpg
  9. That is good to hear. I will mark this one as "solved".
  10. Hi Try taking the CMOS battery ( silver coin size battery ) out of the motherboard. Wait for 1 minute and put it back. Note the + is on top. This will re-set the BIOS to defaults.
  11. Sorry - my error !! If you click on it ( Enter Key ) does it open up an option to disable ? Do you have a Floppy Drive on this machine ?
  12. Hi thanks for the photos - they are very helpful. Can you right click on the floppy Disk and disable it ?
  13. Hi T-D, This sounds like a BIOS setting .............it is looking to boot from a floppy drive Switch on and constantly tap F2 about once per second ..........or wait untill you get the "Press F1 / F2 ..." and press F2 This should take you to the BIOS settings You are looking for the Boot Order ( Boot Sequence or similar ) Move around with the arrow keys. You should see a list of devices. The CDROM should be first in the order and the Hard Disk Drive second. If your Floppy Drive is first .....move it down the order. It will say on screen how to do this but is normally with the + / - keys Once you have the order right Save and Exit ( usually F10 )
  14. Is this a SATA or IDE hard drive ? If IDE make sure the jumper is set to Master. The disk you are using .................what is written on it ? [need more than just Vista / 7 ] Is the hard drive recognised in the BIOS ?
  15. Hi Lennie seedy21 is not on-line at the moment so I will explain..... When the error message shows press CTRL + ALT + PrtSC ..............( this is the Print Screen button at the top ) Open Paint from Accessories. Paste in the Print Screen ( CTRL + V ) If the picture has a broad white border ( Paint background ) you may need to crop it to take the border off. File > Save As ....... Make sure the file type is .jpg You could save this to the desktop to make it easier to find. Come back here and click on Reply > Go Advanced ... ( bottom right ) Click on Manage Attachments ( scroll down the page a little ) Click Add Files > Select File ........ browse to your saved Print Screen file then click SAVE. You can then add the attachment to your next post. Seems a bit long - but it is more or less straight forward :)
  16. Let us know how you get on :) SATA caddys are quite cheap. ( example only ) click here Remember - this is a SATA caddy for a SATA hard drive. If your drive is recognised when you connect it up - it may be possible to run a few tests on it and possibly re-claim it. You could then leave it in the caddy and use it for external storage.
  17. Don't build him up too much ..........He won't get his head out of the Mods Lounge door :)
  18. Hi and welcome to ExTS You have not made any "errors" at all with your post - you have given us relevant details :) If your old Hard Drive is untouched ( not formatted by the shop ) there is a chance that you can get the data off it that you want. Too late now - but data that you value should be backed up on at least two different sources ( DVD / external hard drive ) To try to access the drive you need either a USB Caddy ( as you state ) or a Hard drive to USB adapter ( basically a cable with connections ) To do this you need to know the type of drive that you have. ( SATA or IDE ) SATA are newer than IDE - which are pretty old now. Take a look here and identify which one you have: click here Laptop drives are 2.5 inch. ( Desktop drives are bigger .....3.5 inch ) Once you know which drive you have you can get a 2.5 inch caddy ( or adapter ) Put the drive into the caddy / adapter. ( Remember if you have a SATA hard drive ....you need a SATA caddy ) [ Adapters tend to fit both ....you would need to check ] Connect to the USB port of a working computer. Start > click on "Computer" Your drive ( if it is recognised ) will show up here.
  19. I don't understand this statement sorry. Your motherboard does have a PCIe x 16 slot. The video card will fit this. What we were concerned about was your Power Supply Unit. I think this would need upgrading. I cannot advise you any further if we cannot discover if your PSU is a standard one or not. ( see the photograph in my earlier post ) I also need to know the wattage of the PSU. If you can supply this information we can take this further :)
  20. Hi msdena1976 and welcome to ExTS
  21. Thanks seedy21 - you are quite correct .....and you won't believe how many times I have read this thread :) Just to confirm ......the IP Address should have read .....192.168.2.2
  22. Speedfan - as BreatGritain suggests or try speccy from here: click here Post the results idle and under load
  23. What is showing in device manager now ?
  24. Hi You device manager is not showing a wireless adapter. I think the Intel 82567 is for a wired connection. Try installing the Wireless Driver from here click here You want the 64 bit option.
  25. You obviously didn't bother looking at the link I gave you. That would have been educational too. "10 Tips to improve wireless signal" I have removed it now - you are obviously not interested.
