SONY VAIO S Series SVS1312J3EW blank screen issues

Hi and welcome to ExTS This is probably covered by a warranty. Simplest thing may be to give the seller a ring and talk it through with them. You may need to provide proof of purchase. -
Video Card requirements for Google Earth
KenB replied to Ray1000's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hi Ray I am fairly sure that this is all related to your Video Card. The only way we will really know is to swap it for another - or put your card in another system. Without going back through the thread - I think your card is AGP ( the type of slot it sits in ) and newer motherboards may not have this type of slot. Is this a possibility ? -
Hi Try taking one of the RAM modules out - leave the other. Boot up. If no better - swap them over and run on the other one. RAM will be located under a removable panel in the base of the machine. This may help click here
-
1. I assume that this is the hard drive ? 2. What is the exact error message you are getting ? 3. Can you take the hard drive out and connect it to another machine using an enclosure or USB adapter ? (even add a data and power cable to it from a desktop machine's motherboard ) If so we can run a check on the hard drive to see if there are any problems with it.

Speccy will give you all of the info asked for. Just click on "RAM" I still think this could be a temperature problem - leave Speccy running and monitor the temps.
-
Hi, Download speccy from here click here Get the free version. Install and run. It will give you 2 or 3 temperatures - post them here please.

Re-Install Win 7 on OEM - Legal Download
KenB posted a topic in Guides / Tutorials / Tips and Tricks
Update 11 Feb 2015 Windows-7 used to be available for public download on servers owned by Digital River, Microsoft's service provider for e-commerce. As of February 2015, these downloads have been pulled. "Free" access to the OS disk images is somewhat limited now, but a few options remain. The available downloads are now from Micro$oft own site - click here However, you may find that OEM installations ( De11 / HP etc ) are not readily available as a download. If this is the case then you will need to contact M-Soft - see here There is bound to be a fee involved if you require M-Soft to send you a disk. I will leave the tutorial and links below for the time being as a record of better days. ================================================================= If you have Win 7 on an OEM installation ( De!! / HP / A cer etc ) and the hard-drive dies and you have no recovery disks - you may think that this is going to cost you lots to repair. This may not be the case. I had a friend's laptop in this morning and, on testing, the hard drive was completely dead. No recovery disks either. Solution? Download an ISO image of your Win7 Home Premium system from Digital River. http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-24208.iso 2147483647 X17-24208.iso Windows 7 Home Premium x86 English [32 bit] http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-24209.iso 2147483647 X17-24209.iso Windows 7 Home Premium x64 English [64 bit] Please be aware - There is now a SP1 version of these downloads. You MUST download the SP1 version from Digital River if you intend doing a "Repair Install" and this is what you have on the system already. These versions below have SP1. Please be careful what you download. ==================== The 32 bit Home Premium SP1 version - http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-58996.iso The 64 bit Home Premium SP1 version - http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-58997.iso The 32 bit Professional SP1 version - http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-59183.iso The 64 bit Professional SP1 version - http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-59186.iso The 32 bit Ultimate SP1 version - http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-59463.iso The 64 bit Ultimate SP1 version - http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-59465.iso ==================== Not what you are looking for ? If you are unsure if you had 32 or 64 bit take the RAM out and add the two values together. If you have less than 4GB then you can safely assume you have 32 bit. More than 4GB - 64 bit. Once downloaded you need to burn the ISO image to a DVD ( it is far too big for a CD ) Install the DVD in the drive and right click on the file that you have just downloaded. If you have "Burn Disk Image" or similar click on this and the burn process will begin. If not you will need to use some ISO burning software ( can be found free ) Once you have the DVD you are almost there. I then installed a spare hard drive I had into the laptop. Check that the CDROM is the first boot device in the BIOS. Insert the newly burned DVD into the drive and switch on. Win 7 install process starts. You will need the Product Code off the sticker on the machine. This is the 25 character code on the Microsoft sticker. Once complete you will need to activate the installation. You have 30 days to do this. I did this by phone - it is automated and you don't speak to anybody. You are given 9 blocks of numbers - 6 numbers in each block - that you type in. That's it. Windows 7 installed - and legal. The whole process took about an hour and a half. -
Glad I don't live next door to you Steve :)

Hi and welcome to ExTS I have split your post from the other thread - you are better off with your own. :) This can be a problem with the charging circuit or the battery could be damaged. Does the laptop boot up with the battery in ? Which Dell laptop do you have ? Model and number please.

Hi Ray If you run it - it will list all installed software. Does it list anything that looks like it may contain a 3D Viewer that could possibly be conflicting ? D3D Compiler is part of DirectX Try this: Open G-E File > Server Sign Out Then click on Tools > Options > Cache Click on "Delete Cache File" -

Good to hear that the problem is now solved. I wouldn't think so. Pinging the site is our way of seeing if your system can actually communicate with the site servers. -
[Solved] install xp from cd - problem
KenB replied to bobcat43's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
I have just re-read this thread. My post #13 is talking rubbish ............ I now realise that the 2 disks you refer to are XP Home and PRO. I have seen PRO on 2 disks before. Pull one of the RAM modules and run off the other. Try the installation now. If you get the same problem ......swap the RAM modules over and run off the other one. -

These would be hidden system files to which you would not have access. The *.* literally identifies all hidden files. From what you say later on - the pics have been deleted not simply hidden. You could give it a try - revert the system to a date before the Nokia upgrade. No guarantee that the pics will return though. It could do. The problem is that every time you use your system and save stuff etc this overwrites the section of the disk where your deleted files are and this will fragment them. If you are going to run Recuva again do it before the system restore. The un-recoverable is probably due to system usage and the file has become fragmented. It is important not to use the system ( or use it as little as possible ) in order to maintain the files integrity when trying to recover them.
