  1. Hi and welcome to ExTS
  2. Is it ? We are just missing information on the PSU. You will need to take the side panel off to see it. If you post the make and model number of your computer - I may be able to locate the specs for it.
  3. Hi Still need information on your PSU. If you up-grade the Video Card then it is more than likely necessary to upgrade the PSU to a higher Wattage. is this your motherboard? http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/memx_2245_95283258 If it is - you have 1 PCIx16 slot ( the vertical black one ) which is where the video card will fit. Some video cards need an extra 6 pin power connection from the PSU. Please answer the following: 1. What do you want to do with this computer ? ( games for instance ? ) 2. What is the wattage of your PSU ? A photo of the label and PSU would be good :) 3. How much RAM do you have ? ( 1.5 GB from the first post ? ) I assume that the XP Operating System is 32 bit ? click here This is Vista but it should be the same for XP.
  4. Hi it is my first link. Download Speccy from here click here It will report on what hardware etc you have on your system. It should let you know the specific details of the motherboard. The PSU has a sticker / label on it that will say how many Watts it is. Failing this it will give you a product code so that we can identify it and locate the Wattage.
  5. Hi If you want to speed things up the simple steps are: 1. Make sure you have no malware - download > update and run MBAM click here You want the free version If that checks out OK ... 2. Run DiskCleanUp 3. Check how much free hard drive space you have. It should be about 15% free compared to the total drive space. 4. If all this checks out - install some more RAM.
  6. You are welcome - Happy that it was a relatively simple fix :)
  7. It's called "Blobby Icing" :)
  8. Can you please provide seedy21 with more specific information ? 1. Does the machine boot up OK ? ( reasonably quickly ) 2. You say Internet Explorer takes a long time to open. Have you tried another browser ? 3. Does it take a long time for desktop icons to open - if you click on a program like Word for instance ?
  9. Yes I did - sorry - I hoped you had not read it. It is OK to have run it - a log would help ....just to be sure. It is located in "Logs" if you open MBAM Start > type in .....cmd ......right click on cmd.exe that will appear top left of screen > Click on Run as Administrator At the prompt type ... sfc /scannow [there is a space after sfc] This will scan the system files and correct any errors. Let me know the results.
  10. Hi and welcome to ExTS There is a problem with your link. I think this is the card you are looking at: click here other option click here Which one is it ? I can't find any information on the recommended PSU for this card. Guessing - I would suggest 450 - 500 Watts What Power Supply Unit do you have ? We need to know which motherboard you have - do you know what it is ? Make and model number ? Your English is very good :)
  11. Try taking the CMOS battery out of the motherboard > leave for 1 minute > replace Note the + is on top This will reset the BIOS to defaults. try again.
  12. Is this SATA or IDE ? I think you said "SATA" earlier - please confirm. You have fitted both the data and the power cables ? Does the drive show in the BIOS ?
  13. Hi and welcome to ExTS Not sure what you are asking - ?? The manual for your card is here: click here Does this help ?
  14. It is Randy's birthday today. I will not embarrass him by saying how many he has had ---- suffice to say he was there when George Washington was a lad. :) http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ZFHeYz3xhjo/TH24dnRynkI/AAAAAAAAA24/X67xskxXEAA/s1600/Summer+2010+124.JPG
  15. Don't understand why you continued installing programs etc It would have been easier to re-install again. This is odd as they are the same icons as the desktop When you right click a desktop icon is this what it says ( "Target Pathway" ) .......... where C:\Program Files .........exe is ? What did you use to return to out of the box state ? If it was a disk what exactly is written on it ? Have you always had Vista on this machine ?
  16. Hi If you right click on an icon that will not open > Properties It should say C:\Program Files \software name.exe Does it ?
  17. what did you go for in the end ?
  18. You are welcome :) Let us know how you get on.
  19. Hi and welcome to ExTS A Print-Screen would help. Copy it into Paint and save as a .jpg extention ......easiest to save to desktop. Click on ....Reply to Thread > Go Advanced > scroll down a bit ........Manage Attachments > Add Files Navigate to your saved .jpg and upload it here. Hope this helps and somebody here should be able to offer some further advice :)
  20. I assume you have a 64 bit system ?
  21. In addition to Synapse questions .... You didn't answer this.
  22. Hi and welcome to ExTS Although your chosen PSU is just about enough to run that card I would consider upgrading that a bit [ the PSU ] ( if you can afford it ) to future-proof. Found this - your card cheaper click here [not the black edition] You will like this click here The "Boost" actually over-clocks the Video Card in-game from what I have read. Gives that little extra "boost" during gaming. The card in all other ways - is basically the same as your chosen one. You may want to price this one up. click here This card ( 7950 ) requires 2 x 6 pin power connectors Does your PSU have these ? EDIT - just checked ......yes :) It is a dual-slot card ( wide ) and takes up two slots This is common with high-end cards. Your PSU states 85% efficient. This is normal for PSUs ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,your 550 Watts will be nearer to 540 Watts This will get less as the PSU ages.
  23. Hi and welcome to ExTS I can't find anything related to HP utunda ?? Is this an OS ? If the machine was working and suddenly stopped ........... silly question ....... is there a switch to switch wireless on / off ? Is it on ? If this is not a Windows machine I am going to have to leave this to somebody else .
  24. I am sure BreatGritain will ask this - so I will jump in ..... Do you have separate master sockets ( where the line comes onto the house ) ? Or are they next to each other on the same box ? http://www.plus.net/images/support/broadband/btmastersocket_type1.png This is NOT exactly what I was looking for - but it will do as an example :) Do you have filters on both systems AND on everything else connected to the lines ?
  25. Is the hard drive being recognised in the BIOS ? Basically - if the CD is OK then after that prompt "Press any Key" it should look for the hard drive. Have you checked the hard drive connections ?
