  1. Hi I have just checked my running Services - I have about 80 running. What you have looks normal. If you like - if your boot-up time is slow-ish - is to set some that are obviously not essential to "Auto - Delayed Start" Use this for Services that are currently set to Automatic. The services will start after the machine has booted up and has settled down. Services connected to Firewall / AntiVirus really need to start Automatically. To change the start-up type do the following: Start > type in "Services.msc" Right click on the service > Properties Under Startup Type ( down arrow ) select Delayed Start. [ previously configured to Automatic only ]
  2. Hi and welcome to ExTS Thanks for the very comprehensive post :) Sorry I couldn't read the details in the Xirrus pic. Click on Start .....type in .....devmgmt.msc .....ENTER Click on the + next to Network Adapters The wireless adapter should be listed here - is it ? 1. What is showing for the wireless adapter ? 2. Are there any yellow exclamation marks ? You can do this with the ethernet cable attached .... Click on the blue "Wireless Test" in my signature below. Download the software to the desktop. Disconnect the cable and attempt to run off wireless connection. Run the software. It will produce a long log. Copy this and post it here please. IMPORTANT ADDITION: Can other laptops etc connect through this router and get a connection ?
  3. Hi For some reason you reported the last post ?? This sends an email to all Moderators and Admins :) Windows Zero configuration This shouldn't be disabled - and there is no way I know of that it will be able to enable itself if it is disabled. Malware could possibly do this. Download MBAM from here: click here You want the FREE version. Install > Update > Run it It will produce a log. Copy this and post it here please. Your reported post contained this: You don't need software to do this. What was the software that you downloaded ?

  5. There is s simple tutorial for Recuva here click here
  6. That just about confirms it. It is related to your graphics - it is not wiring. You said earlier that there was nothing listed under "Display Adapters" in Device Manager Please go back ( devmgmt.msc ) click the + next to Display Adapters and let me know what is listed. Also - are there any yellow exclamation marks ?
  7. The fact that the connection was dropping - then coming back - and dropping again. Normally with this type of problem it turns out to be the router - but you say other connections are stable ..... so this rules out the router. If it was a setting that was wrong or software that is corrupt you would not get a connection at all. Logically - this leads us to the adapter itself. Being electronic it could be a failing component that "drifts in and out ". It is integrated onto the motherboard - no easy fix I am afraid. With the wired connection .........you could try this: Start > Run ....type in ............devmgmt.msc .........ENTER Click the + next to "Network Adapters" Right click on the wireless adapter > Update Drivers Let Windows do this automatically. What is listed as the wireless adapter ? Any yellow exclamation marks ? I would still get hold of a USB Adapter .............this will prove me right or wrong but is always handy to have anyway :)
  8. Hi I have just located the original article - dated 1 October 2009 Things will have moved on a bit since then. It was actually the Troubleshooting Tips I posted it for :)
  9. Hi, I suspect that the problem lies with your wireless adapter itself. If you can borrow or buy a USB wireless adapter and install this I suspect that you will get a stable connection. click here
  10. Nobody responded within a few minutes ................we are not on-line 24/7 we do have families and jobs !!

  12. Hi and welcome to ExTS This is the BIOS setup that you are being taken to. This shouldn't normally happen unless ........ Take a look at the F2 and DEL keys (this is the normal method of accessing the BIOS) Are they stuck down ? Also try ... Tap F8 about once per second after switching on - keep tapping until you get to the Advanced Start-up Options Try "Last Known Good Configuration" I would take a look at the keys on the keyboard first. Have you made any alterations to the BIOS - overclocking for instance ? Also ......you could have dislodged the RAM or Hard Drive when you dropped it. Take the RAM out and make sure they are re-seated properly. Do the same with the Hard Drive.
  13. Hi I suspected that the internal adapter may be at fault. I am happy that the USB adapter is working for you. :)
  14. Also found this that may be of interest: click here
  15. This is probably the problem. What is listed for the wireless adapter ? EDIT Sorry - you posted it in your first post Have you got the most recent drivers installed from the manufacturers website for the wireless card ? Is this your card? click here
  16. Hi again No problem at all with you continuing at CHF. It makes sense to keep all advice and comments together :)
  17. At least the two versions agree. In Device Manager click on the + next to Network Adapters > Properties > Advanced Is there anything related to 802.11 settings there ? Also Are you using WPA2 security on the router?
  18. It could possibly be a setting in the Hub-3 software. The 802.11 setting ..........if this is set to something other than "N" then this would explain. I can't see why it would be though - but may be worth a look.
  19. It would be interesting to see if Home Hub v2 gives you any better than 54mbs
  20. Don't you get a great feeling when you solve your own problems :) Good to hear it is up-and-running again.
  21. Helcaraxe replied to you within half an hour of you posting. !! You then made a further 4 posts between 9-36 AM and 10-58 AM We are NOT here 24/7 we do have families and jobs too. If you are not happy with the site then you are welcome to take your problems elsewhere. See how fast other sites respond - I doubt you will beat 27 minutes !!
  22. Hi I have Googled your problem and found that with the BT Homehub 3 this is a common problem. One guy dumped it and bought his own router and that solved his problem. Does this help at all ? click here
  23. Hi and welcome to ExTS I am not a gamer. It sounds like something is conflicting. Try deleting temp internet files and cookies. Start > CONTROL PANEL > Internet Options > delete select Temp Files and Cookies You will need to login to sites like this again with your username and password if the details were saved. Also try this... Start ....type in .....cmd ......right click on the cmd.exe that appears top left of screen > Run as Administrator At the command prompt type... ipconfig /release then type... ipconfig /renew [ note there is a space after ipconfig ] Try the games again.
  24. Hi and welcome to ExTS Download the blue Wireless Test from my signature below. Save it to the desktop. Next time the connection drops run the software. It will produce a long log. Copy this and post it here please.
  25. From PCHF All ok now ?
