  1. Please try the cable - it will isolate the wireless side if you can connect. Have you tried the "Repair" yet ?
  2. Yes. Try this: Start > type in .....cmd.....right click on the cmd.exe that appears top left > click on Run as Administrator At the prompt type in .....sfc /scannow ....[ there is a space after sfc] hit ENTER This will check the system files. If you get no change with the connection run this scan again. ( sometimes it picks things up on the second scan ) Still no luck .....then go back to the command prompt ( Run as Admin ) and try the netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log again
  3. Is this Win 7 ? Start > type in ....devmgmt.msc .... ENTER Click the + next to Network Adapters 1. What is listed ? 2. Are there any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs ? 3. Can you connect using an ethernet cable direct to the router ? ========== Can you see an icon that looks like a monitor bottom right of screen ? If so - right click on this and select "Repair" If you get any errors let me know exactly what has been reported please.
  4. Win 7 system requirements: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit) 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit) DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver You STILL cannot have the same OS on two systems unless you have a multi-license that came with the original disk.
  5. Hi Joe, As Hannibal Smith ( A-Team ) says ......I love it when a plan comes together :) I will happily mark this one "Solved".
  6. Hi kaos, Nev asked me to take a look here so that you are not kept waiting too long :) What is the error message you are getting? I would be inclined to run Check-Disk on this drive. This will check the condition of the disk and attempt to fix any errors. The drive manufacturer may also have scanning software that will tell you if the drive is dead / dying. To run check-disk you need the drive attached to a machine either as an external drive or as an addition to the Primary Drive inside the case. The drive must be recognised and given a drive letter ( you will need this ) Start > type in .....cmd......right click on cmd.exe that appears top left. > Run as Administrator At the prompt type in .....chkdsk E: /f .......[i have used E: - you would use the drive letter allocated to the 1TB drive ] There is a space before and after E: Check the drive first - with chkdsk Let us know what the make and model number of the drive is so that we can see if the manufacturer has diagnostic software available. ================== It would ( using Macrium Reflect that Nev suggested or Recovery Disks or the full installation disk if you have one ) Good thinking. The method varies depending how you intend to put an OS onto the drive. If using Recovery Disks ..... Take the old 500GB drive out completely. Put in the new 1TB - Use SATA 0 .........but it wouldn't matter as you have taken the other drive out. We can give more information when you let us know which method you are using. The method is a bit different if you are using an image. Are you going to use Recovery Disks or Image the drive ? Just a note .... Doing this you will have 2 bootable drives. So in the future - if the 1TB develops problems - you can pop the 500GB back in and boot up again. Regarding Partitions: This is a personal thing. I would certainly have 2 or 3. One could be exclusively for photos / videos and the other for music say..... using the primary partition for the system files.
  7. I actually use gmail. I have no problems with this either :)
  8. Hi Satinder and welcome to ExTS I know you have your own website - we do not allow advertising however :)
  9. We have had threads that go on much longer than this :) ( I have virtually limitless patience ) If you do restore the system to factory settings this would probably solve your problems. Let's try one last thing: Start > type in ....cmd ........right click on the cmd.exe that shows top left > Run as Administrator At the prompt type .......sfc /scannow ..............ENTER [ there is a space after sfc ] You will need to re-start the system This will check the system files. Try the connection again after running sfc. It is advisable to run it twice as sometimes things are picked up on the second run.
  10. Hi and welcome to ExTS Win7 Pro - do you have the original installation disk ? This does sound like a Power issue. Is this a desktop or laptop ? If it is a desktop it could be a faulty Power Supply Unit.
  11. Right - one last go at this ..... Go back to elevated command prompt and type in ..... netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log Hopefully this will reset without any problems
  12. You are very welcome. Good to hear that it was a positive result :)
  13. Hi again Start > type in .....services.msc ......ENTER Scroll down to WLan AutoConfig This should be started - if it isn't click on "Start" (upper left) This should be set to "Automatic" As you can no doubt gather ................there are so many options with wireless connections :)
  14. Thanks for that. Check this for me please. ( I am on Vista at the moment ....Win7 will be very similar ) Start > Control Panel > ( Classic View ) > Network Sharing Centre > Manage Network Connections You should see the LAN and the Wireless connections. Right click on the Wireless > Properties > Highlight TCP/IP v4 You will see this: http://res1.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows%207/main/f598cd96-6bf9-47be-942d-7d0b0afdbd88_47.jpg Obtain IP Address and DNS Servers should both have a check in the box. If there isn't - check both boxes then OK.
  15. Thanks Nev. That is exactly what I meant. :)
  16. Hi and welcome. Please take note of Nev's advice regarding multiple posts. If there is only one we will find it :) When you open Documents you click on the icon in the bottom left corner first ( looks like a file from a filing cabinet ) - without doing anything else - take the mouse to the corners and stretch the box to the size that you want. Once you have it where you want it close the box with the X from the top right corner. Click on the icon again and it should stay enlarged.
  17. This is a legitimate piece of software. I think you would be quite safe to allow it for all websites.
  18. Hi Glad that you found it helpful :)
  19. Hi and welcome to ExTS We are aware of this and can only apologise. A short while ago we were plagued by literally hundreds of spammers per day. Actually they were spam-bots. They were using gmail ( amongst others ) as an email address and we had no option but to ban it in an attempt to stop the spam. This went on for about 2 - 3 weeks and we had to ban each spammer individually which took hours each day. gmail addresses are still banned. If you want me to try to change your email address to your gmail one I can probably do this. You may need to login with it after the change. Send me a PM with the gmail address and I will see what I can do :)
  20. Your Operating System shows "Win7 Pro" ??
  21. No POST beeps is not good ( if you were getting one before ) Take a look here: click here Work through this methodically ( take photos if you need to ) If your system has an on-board speaker you should get POST beeps when you strip the motherboard down to just the 20(4) way power connection from the PSU. Let me know the results please ? If you do get POST this is good.
  22. Sorry - I added this afterwards .... Start > type in .....devmgmt.msc .....ENTER Click the + next to Network Adapters What is listed ? Are there any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs ?
  23. If you right click - do you get the option to "Repair" Start > type in .....devmgmt.msc .....ENTER Click the + next to Network Adapters What is listed ? Are there any yellow exclamation marks or red Xs ?
