Hi and welcome to ExTS I have had a quick look at the system specs: [h=1]ATI HD 6450[/h] This is NOT a video card suitable for high-end gaming. It is basic at best. It is a cheap card - approx £35 They don't specify Win7 32 or 64 bit. I would want to see 64bit - there is a move away from 32bit systems.

problem with Internet connection
KenB replied to igrek001's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
1. If you run IPConfig /all again - does the list under "Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection 5:" change? 2. Have you installed the drivers for your adapter ? If so.... 3. Does the device show in Device Manager ? ( I don't think you answered this earlier ) Start > Run ......devmgmt.msc ........ENTER Click the + next to Network Adapters. 4. Let me know exactly what it says here please. -

Hi This doesn't solve your initial problem - but it is a work-around ( hopefully ) Fn + one of the "F" keys should toggle your screen from monitor to laptop. There will be 2 blue monitors on the key. mine is F5 -

You said this earlier .... Sorry my error - if this is a desktop you can't - not in the same way you can with a laptop. Your IPConfig /all wireless Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection 5: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-17-3F-D6-5F-11 Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Disabled This is not correct. Just for information mine looks like this: Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel® WiFi Link 5100 AGN Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-21-5D-50-D7-16 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.100(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : 07 March 2012 18:11:42 Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : 08 March 2012 18:11:41 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled Check this for me: This is for XP Start > Control Panel > right-click My Network Places, and then click Properties. Right-click Wireless Network, and then click Properties In the Components checked are used by this connection list, double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click Advanced, and then click the WINS tab. Note In Windows XP and in Windows Server 2003, you must double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)in the This connection uses the following items list. Click Use NetBIOS setting from the DHCP server, and then click OK three times. Let me know the results. -

problem with Internet connection
KenB replied to igrek001's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
. I thought so. 1. We need an IP Config /all with the wireless switched on and the adapter connected. 2. Silly question ......you did have the wireless ON when you were trying to connect to the net ? 3. Were there any yellow exclamation marks in Device manager > Network Adapters? -

Windows 7 Vista " c:\ is not accessible Access is denied."
KenB replied to L69's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Which is it ? I think you need to take ownership of C: drive again. This works for Vista. Go to Safe Mode, login as "Administrator". [ I have just tried this in normal boot and it works here too. ] Then right click C:\ drive > Properties > Security Tab > Advanced > Owner > Edit ......then change the ownership to "Administrator". > OK Close this box. ( use X top right of box ) Then grant permissions to these users: Authenticated Users: Read, execute, write, modify, Administrators: Full Control TrustedInstaller: Full Control SYSTEM: Full Control Users: Read, execute Finally, change the owner once more to "Trusted Installer". ( Owner Tab > Edit ) This is not obvious - if you have problems just ask. Try accessing C: again. -
Hi and welcome We are all on the way down again :) :)

I don't think you will find too much to differentiate between the two. Take a look here: This is an AMD 8 core ....and an AMD advert :)
-
To scan the drive with MBAM you will need to select the "Full Scan" - not the quick one. You will then be able to tick the drive letter attached to the drive. (You could confirm this from "Computer" before the start of the scan)

Hi, I don't know too much about overclocking ( not being a gamer ) so cannot comment on this. The choice of CPU is the usual argument between AMD and Intel. It is a matter of personal preference. I don't think you would see too much difference between the two - the Intel should be a bit faster. Video Cards - when comparing the two the GTX570 comes off best ( just ) Again - not much to choose between them. You would be better off with the Corsair PSU It would seem that the cheaper list - on the face of it - is the better value.

Hi and welcome to ExTS switch off at the wall but leave the plug in to maintain the earth connection to the m/board. Disconnect all external hardware ( monitor / printer etc ) Take all removable cards ( RAM / Video etc ) off the motherboard Take the power connections off the drives. Disconnect the drive data cables at the m/board. leave only the 20(4) way cable from the PSU attached, Switch on. You should get POST beeps if you have an internal speaker connected. No POST beeps indicates a PSU or m/board problem. If it isn't stable - fans spinning / LEDs on / no crash / or reboot then you have a m/board or PSU problem.

Hi Sorry to hear you are unwell - I hope you improve soon. Your drive is good to go. No need to format / partition etc. Make sure that you are careful when attaching the drive to the enclosure connections - some are a bit delicate. When you plug in the USB cable ( if it has 2 USB Connections use both as one will supply extra power ) the drive will be recognised by Windows, It will take a few seconds to install then you should be able to see it in "Computer" as an extra drive. You should be able to right click on it and scan it with your AntiVirus software. Once the scan is complete - if nothing is found - you can take a look to see if you can access your files. We will run a check on the disk after you have backed up anything you need.

Hi What font size text are you using? I have just tried 72 ( Word 2010 ) and it is no problem. How are you scrolling the text? I use the small up and down arrows top right and bottom left of screen -
problem with Internet connection

Just to confirm: You have a router on the first floor. You have a desktop machine with a wireless adapter on the second floor. You have a laptop also. Is this correct? Can the laptop connect to the internet or is that a problem too ? On the desktop machine: Can you see an icon that looks like 2 monitors ? If you can .....right click on it and select "Repair" Let me know what happens. -
As Nev says - we are fairly confident that you should be able to get access to your data. It is just a case of waiting for the enclosure to arrive :)

Hi Try this click here I have not used this so cannot verify it for you.

If it is re-booting with each module then it isn't the RAM ( either that or they all have the same problem - unlikely ) Try what I posted earlier: With the RAM in ....switch on and constantly tap F8 about once per second. Is "Repair this Computer" an option with the other startup options ?
-
You will get beeps with the RAM out. You should also get 1 beep with all cards in - if things are OK. No beeps usually means a Power Supply problem or Motherboard problem. Let us know the results of the RAM test. ================= With the RAM in ....switch on and constantly tap F8 about once per second. Is "Repair this Computer" an option with the other startup options ?

As Nev says - take ALL of the modules out. It will not boot up without RAM - but it may become stable. If it is stable then we need to identify which RAM module is the cause of the problem. We do this logically - putting them back one at a time. Is it stable with no RAM and no Video Card ( running off the onboard VGA ) ?
