  1. This, if you don't mind me saying, is an unreasonable request. I gave you a tutorial from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796 This is easy to follow. If you get stuck - just ask.
  2. You have IPv6 enabled. Try disabling this to test. Control panel > Network & Sharing > Manage Network Connections > Right click Local Area Connection > Properties Uncheck the box next to "Internet Protocol Version 6" > OK Try it now. ============== Have you tried replacing the filters one at a time with a known good one ?
  3. You are very welcome. Happy to hear that you were able to get your files back. http://paddysday.net63.net/smiley/dancing%20irish%20smiley.gif Suggestion: If you have data that you don't want to lose - back it up in 2 different places that are not on the drive that contains the Operating System.
  4. Hi, I am no expert with TestDisk - I said before I have never used it, but looking at the log I see this: NTFS: Can't read MFT This implies that the Master File Table is damaged. And the MBR seems to be a problem too. Try this first: Connect the drive to the USB port. Start > Computer ......If the drive shows make a note of the drive letter ( lets say F:\ ) If the drive does not show in My Computer get the drive letter from Disk Management. Start > Run box .....type in ...diskmgmt.msc .....ENTER Start .....type in .....cmd .....DO not hit ENTER yet Right click on cmd that shows in the top left of screen > Run as Administrator If using XP simply type cmd > ENTER At the command prompt type chkdsk /f F: F: is the drive letter ( yours may be different ) There is a space before and after /f This will take some time to complete. It may fix the MFT problem. If it doesn't ..... TestDisk should allow you to repair the MFT and MBR. See here: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_Step
  5. Hi and welcome to ExTS It sounds as if you are getting a conflict. I suggest you try a clean boot of your system. This is a diagnostic method of testing running processes and services by disabling them and bringing them back into use in a controlled manner. I would advise that you make a note of the list of services and their respective settings ( auto / manual / disabled ) You can do this by Start > type in ....services ......ENTER Bit labourious but at least you will be able to return the Services to their original settings later. If you get as far as the Startup list - only the AntiVirus and Firewall need to be enabled afterwards - but again .....make a list of the ones that are checked. Take a look here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796
  6. You can also try "Last Known Good Configuration" from the Advanced Startup Options. When it re-boots or after you switch on ........constantly tap F8 about once per second. You will get the list of options.
  7. Hi, try the folowing: Start > Run ......type in ......regsvr32 urlmon.dll .......ENTER ( space after ...32 ) This will re-register the urlmon.dll ============== If that doesn;t do it try .... Open Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Scroll to Browsing Check the box next to Disable Script Debugging > OK You may need a restart. ==============
  8. When you ran TestDisk - did it give you an option to repair ?
  9. Hi again Was this an internal drive with your Operating System on and partitioned to store files videos on the same drive? EDIT: Ignore this - I re-read your first post ...."EXT 1gb HD" Just confirm for me ....... This is a seperate drive from the one that you boot the machine from - correct ??
  10. Hi, I am not familiar with testdisk. I suggest that you try to get the files and data off your drive if you can - at least you will have salvaged something - then you can attempt to repair the drive. You don't say if this is a laptop or desktop. Do you know if this is SATA or IDE ? I would suggest a caddy / adapter to connect it up to another system to see if you can access files / videos.
  11. Hi and welcome to ExTS I am a bit confused. You can run software by going to C:\Program Files then clicking on the file you want to run. 1. Is this correct ? If so .....is it the .exe file you are clicking on ? If you click on a desktop shortcut for the same file it will not run. 2. Correct ? 3. Do you have an Anti Virus ? 4. Have you run it ? 5. Do you have Malwarebytes Anti Malware on your system ? 6. Have you tried System Restore to a date just prior to the start of your problem ?
  12. Create another rrestore point. Go back to Device Manager. Start > devmgmt.msc Click the + next to Disk Drives Make a note of the drive that is showing - this is your Hard Drive. Now click on View > Show hidden devices Everything that you have used via the USB ports that is memory linked is here. Do the same again - right click > uninstall Do Not uninstall the Hard Drive drivers that you made a note of - there is no need. The system will reinstall the drivers next time you plug the devices in.
  13. Your video card is an excellent choice for the money. See here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-performance-radeon-geforce,2997-4.html A bit cheaper here: http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&rlz=1R2ACAW_enGB407&gs_upl=5921l5921l0l8411l1l1l0l0l0l0l237l237l2-1l1l0&q=Asus+M5A88-M+AMD+880g&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=7822756668563408345# Your m/board supports up to 16GB RAM so, if necessary, you could upgrade in the future. Corsair is a good choice of RAM and PSU. Your CPU - how are you cooling it ?
  14. Your Trace Route shows that you are getting as far as your ISP then "General Failure" Start > type in ......devmgmt.msc .....ENTER What is listed when you click the + next to Network Adapters ? IntelĀ® PRO/1000 PL ?? Are there any yellow exclamation marks?
  15. You could have a dry joint on a connection. I ask again ....
  16. Have you tried a different cable? Please post the log for this scan. Was the system running OK prior to the Malware being found on the system ?
  17. Hi and welcome to ExTS Post your problems in the forums and hopefully somebody here will be able to answer your questions :)
  18. Mag476 I think this confirms your earlier suspicion. Nice one :) babydoll - it is important that you do NOT save anything else to the External Drive. mag476, I suggest that you walk babydoll through the recovery process again. ( If you don't mind ? ) Hopefully you can recover some files for her. Good luck.
  19. Hi rocky Start ....type in .....cmd....... ( don't hit ENTER yet ) Right click on the highlighted cmd top left of screen. Select "Run as Administrator" At the command prompt type .......sfc /scannow .......ENTER This will check your system files and possibly repair the problem ones ( if there is a problem ).
  20. Hi babydoll, What I can't seem to understand is .... Nev recapped and asked if you formatted the External Hard Drive and then realised you had lost your files. You used Easy Recovery pro to recover them to your Laptop. Filling up the Laptop Hard drive in the process. I read your early posts as ... You reinstalled Win7. You were getting error messages with the External Drive. You backed up your files from the external drive to the Laptop drive. You formatted the External Drive You have said this a couple of times ......which implies that the files were moved to the laptop BEFORE you formatted the External Drive. Which is it ? ============= Take just one of the files on the laptop and transfer it to a memory stick. Try running this from a different machine.
  21. If you are getting a very faint image it is likely to be a backlight or inverter problem.
  22. Hi, I know what you mean :) Vista ( my choice at the moment ) is really quite a good Operating System. As the others have said, XP is a bit dated and will not be supported at all by Microsoft after 2014. I understand you wanting to have all your systems with the same OS - but believe me ......you will get used to the newer ones. Also - to have 3 OS the same you will need to buy 2 more installation disks. This is an added expense and, in my opinion, an unnecessary one. Give the newer versions a bit of time - :)
  23. Hi, I am sorry I missed your original post. Many thanks for your feedback - this will, no doubt, help somebody else. Oh - and welcome to ExTS :)
  24. You are very welcome.
  25. Hi and welcome to ExTS I have split your two posts from the other thread - you are better with your own :) When you have booted up - - - Have you tried toggling to the TV using Fn + F5 ? ( could be a different F key - look for the dual monitor icon )
