  15. Hi all i have an old p3 pc which is supposed to be 450MHz ( :) ) but i relized the other day (coz i rarely look at the pc when booting up coz its slooooooow) that its only running at 300MHz (66 X 4.5), i tried changing it to 450MHZ (100 X 4.5) but then it wont boot. I left it now on 300MHz coz its only for storage but i was just wondering why it is running at an slower speed now, coz i know for a fact the CPU is 450MHz. This is not urgent i am just curious. Thanks BTW dont laugh at the spec, i use my laptop for all other things :) lol
  16. Everytime i ran limewire and did a full scan with bitdefender it picked up malware so i dont use limewire anymore or any p2p software for that matter.
  17. Tell us the make and model as Randy said, then we can tell you if you need to change settings in the BIOS. Also what cable are you using for the Hard drive? Did you try using the fixmbr in the recovery console?
  18. Any XP disk(NOT copied) will work! If you got a disk with the other pc that is fine it's just to boot from it to get to the recovery console.
  19. Hi Do you have an XP disk? Also read this by microsoft If you have the XP disk boot from the disk(you may need to enter the BIOS to set the CD to 1st boot option) then go to the recovery console and type chkdsk /r (note: there is a space between the k and the /).
  20. Ok. Just wait for Seth to look at the log , he is the expert in this. While you wait you can read this post also by Seth on malware.
  21. BTW what anti-virus software are you running?
  22. The key AS is refering to is in the registry so you need to go Start->Run then type regedit and HKCU=HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
  23. Hi Download HijackThis from trendsecure and run only the scan and save log file. Then post the log file in the HijackThis section. Then Seth will see what is lurking in your pc.
  24. It looks very nice so far. i'm busy converting now so will see what it sounds like afterwards. We dont want celine dion to sound like metalica do we! :)
  25. To find out if the CD-ROM image is on your machine, search for a folder named I386. There may be several but the one we care about will contain close to 7,000 files, two of which will be winnt.exe and winnt32.exe.
