    After it closes down press cntrl+shift+esc and see if it is running in the background. look under applications and processes.

    You will have to get a legal copy of Windows XP and then download service pack 2 of the net. You can also just buy a licence from Microsoft directly. Obviously the place or person you got the pc from used an illegal copy of windows XP.

    hi i have looked on the web for any thing with this motherboard but cant find anything. What make is the pc. Run Aida32 and tell us what it says by motherboard. You can download it here

    All of them should work coz they are all micro ATX. As long as the form factor is the same. So ATX case goes with ATX motherboard, Micro ATX case goes with Micro ATX motherboard.

    I am also thinking it is the motherboard. Could be shorting against the case(Wolfey is this a possibility?)

    Does the POST give one beep, this means that the POST did not find any errors? When you turn on the PC after a few seconds is there one beep? He said in the 1st post he tried another monitor :D

    You said you checked hat everything is on and plugged in and there is no beebs! Normally when the video cards is'nt working there will be some beebs. Mmmm....I'll just think about this and get back to you.

    Hi It means if the motherboard has got an on-board graphics card or do you have an graphics cards that "plugs" into a slot on the motherboard? If you have both you can disable the "plugged-in" grapics card and try the onboard graphics to see if it works. Cheers

    I havent work with sata yet still learning but i think some sata drive does not have jumpers. What is the make and model of hdd? Jumpers is on IDE hd's to set master or slave or cable select.

    Thanks. It is not the PGA it is the slot 1 processor. A new one then, i is about time. all it is good for now is storage. Not even a lot only 95GB :) Thanks for the responses

    Hi all Just a simple question. My cd writer on my old p3(yes i still have a p3 for burning cd's :) and storing music) sometimes it just opens by itself, then i close it and it opens again. But when i put an empty disk in it will open, close for about 3 times and then it is working fine, the cd cuts perfectly. Is this hardware or software related. Running windows xp sp2(yes on the p3 450mhz 128mb Ram - Damm i need a new pc lol) Thanks

    Hi If you want to change the shortcut on the desktop just right-click on the icon and under the shortcut tab click on find target or you can enter he shortcut manually. Hope this helps. Post back for any furher assistance.
