  1. Hi I had the same problem a while back when ie7 was in the early stages and i tried to install it, it also caused my browsers to close with an error. i just decided to re-install windows cause i had alot of other problems too. So you can try to do a system restore to an earlier date too see if that resolves the problem.
  2. try doing an online scan, check that the cpu is not overheating or getting too hot, make sure all the fans are working. or if all else fails try a system restore to an earlier date when it did not freeze . hope this helps
  3. you are not using a bootable cd. or if you want to boot from the hard drive make sure there is no disk in your cd rom or change the bios so it boots from the hard drive. that is if you have an operating system on the hard drive.
  4. do a online virus scan, i know svchost is used by windows but there is a new virus that uses this file. also see this : http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=WORM%5FSOHANAD%2EU&VSect=T . This is not the only virus that uses this file there are many.
  5. Make sure you got the latest driver for your sound card, you can normally get updated drivers from the manufacturer(sorry for the spelling) website.
  6. did you install the drivers for your sound card?
  7. hi. some ideas might be to open the pc and check that all cables are connected tightly and all expansion boards are sitting in place. also check that the cpu and ram chips are securely in place. good luck.
  8. if all els fails also check that u have updated anti virus protection as there is a worm (i think its a new one) that reboots the pc constantly.
  9. I have a faily similar problem coz i also got an acer laptop and it seems to me the cd/dvd roms on them isnt very good. myn sometimes works fine and other times it doesnt read the disk at all. i think try putting the laptop on a flat surface and closing the drive carefully. it seems to me that when i am using on "bumpy" areas the drive is not working good. Tell me if you get something right.
  10. check that your security in the internet options is not set too much, other wise it blocks downloading.
  11. also make sure the bios "sees" the hard drive and dvd drive. check in the bios if it is set to auto.
  12. I also have an acer notebook and installed extra memory, the panel sits quite firm, make sure you are removing the corroct panel and it only has 4 screws. You will have to use a little extra strenght coz it has got metal folded at the bottom of the plate. But if you dont want any risk take it to any pc shop and then you will have to pay. it is up to you, good luck
  13. Congratulations to you both.
  14. Hi. Could you give a more detailed description of the error messge. It could be a case where the file is in use by another program.
  15. Hi. Try restoring your sytem to a date before you have uninstalled the program, or a date the pc was working fine. Good luck.
  16. xover meaning cross over. if you connect just the two pc's you need a cross over utp cable. :-)
  17. Hi. When windows gives a stop or halt error it creates this file for debugging. So if you are not gonna use it for debugging you can safely delete this file. Cheers
  18. Hi bigmack Does the bios pick it up and is the jumper settings on it correct. Is it ATA or SATA. Did you format the disk?
  19. Look at this website for outlook: http://www.outlookpower.com A good website for outlook problems. Hope this helps.
  20. Hi Neil. You can try this: 1. Right-click MY COMPUTER -> PROPERTIES -> Click HARDWARE tab -> DEVICE MANAGER Check to see if the modem drivers are here and if it is uninstall from here. OR 2. Go to CONTROL PANEL -> ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS And check if it installed anything to do with the drivers Hope you get it sorted. I dont know if this will solve it but i hope i lead you in the right direction. Cheers
  21. First you will need to check if the e-mail is marked as read manually or automatic. This is done under Tools -> Options -> Reading Pane (on Outlook 2000, check preview pane). If you prefer to do it manually, right click on the message and select the option read. Next: The most common reason is the view selected for the folder is "Unread Messages". The read messages are actually not gone; the view is just filtered to only show unread messages. If you want to see all message then select another view such as "Messages" or "Messages with AutoPreview" under View -> Current View. Any view can also have a filter. To check if a particular view is filtered select the view then go to View -> Current View -> Customize Current View. Other things to consider checking when email disappears: rules and auto-archiving. For rules, check to see if any rules under Tools have been configured to automatically move emails once they have been read or based on some other criteria. Hope this helps.
  22. Hi If you know the files and their location, you can try to delete them in safe mode. Reboot the pc into safe mode and try to delete it yourself. Hope this helps.

  25. Hi. What i can think of is that the cable between your pc and monitor is not properly connected. Check that the cable is sitting correctly in place.
