  1. In the device manager is the usb ports listed and is there a red x or yellow ! next to it? If no usb is listed try to manually install it using add hardware in control panel. If it is listed right click on it and go to properties. What does it say there? Post back with your findings. Also when you removed the usb drivers make sure no usb device is attched. Hope you get it sorted.
  2. Do you have an onboard graphics card. If the graphics card is onboard it will use the physicall ram of your pc.

  5. Hi. Windows should pick up the usb when you reboot after unistalling them and then windows will automatically install it again.

  7. Thanks. I ve tried putting two dvd covers at the back of the laptop to lift it. And it seems to be running cooler like that. And the game doesnt go slow so often now, so it was a heat problem. Do you know about those pads you can put under the laptop to keep it cool or is it a waste of money? Thanks again. Maynard
  8. You have to stop the usb device before unplugging it, all usb device i use i never need to switch off the pc, i just have to use the safely remove hardware icon at the bottom right. Well it is only really the ipod i use on usb. sometimes windows just need to stop the device first.

  10. Hi. You must give as much info as possible. Do you mean windows does not "see" your sound card? Right click my computer click properties go to the hardware tab click device manager, see what is under the sound controllers and if there is no red x or yellow !. Give more info!
  11. Does the desktop "see" any wireless connections? Make sure you WPA or WEP is correct.

  13. Do you have the manual of the laptop coz some laptops have a key you press at startup to recover xp or whatever o/s is on the pc. Try to see what the key is you have to press. (mine is acer an is f10)

  16. You might need a new power supply, or even worse a whole new motherboard and cpu and RAM. I would just first test the power supply to see if it is working. you should have the voltage on the red switch to what comes from the wall socket. You will be lucky if it is just the power supply that is blown. Good Luck. Post back with your findings.
  17. Hi Cpu useage is almost al the time at 100% while in the game. I dont see any process using too much memory, the one using the most mem is one of the svchost programs.
  18. Is there any "speed up your computer" utilities i can run o my pc or should i stay away from any such programs. I have at the moment registry mechanic and pc pitstop optimizer. Good or bad. :-)
  19. You can check what your current product Id is in the registry. start-run- type regedit, then goto Hkey_loca_machine-software-microsoft-currentversion. click on currentversion then you should see the product id there. DO NOT change anything in the registry just write down the product id.
  20. Maybe do a full virus scan, to be on the safe side.
  21. You can just press print screen (PrtSc on some laptops) on the keyboard. Then go to a program like Paint and then click on edit and select paste and you should see what was on the screen when you pressed print sceen, and then you can save it.
  22. First and most obvious make sure there is no disk in the floppy drive (if you have one) cd in the cd-rom drive (or DVD). Tell me if that sorted, otherwise post back and say if it still says that. good luck maynard
  23. it is an acer, it gets very hot sometimes when on for a couple of hours, was thinking on getting an heatpad or something like that thanks for the the response. havent check processes yet or task manager but when i do i post back thanks

Have you tried different usb ports? about installing the usb port go to add hardware in control panel and follow on screen instructions. if you dont understand anything there just post back and someone will get back to you.
