Hi, Recently, my Win 8 PC experience some problem in installing some Win update. At 1900 UTC on 14-03-2013, all the 16 updated failed to be installed after downloading. May I know how to fix this problem? Thanks View this thread

Microsoft updates March 13, 2013 Windows 7 Pro It seems that not all is well with the IE 10 push. I have Windows Update set to download but let me chose when to install. Yet after these updates downloaded...something crazy happens I went to power off like I nornally do and Windows Update stated that updates were being applied not to power off my system. When the update finished the system powered off. When I powered on and booted up I noticed that my IE 32bit was gone and the IE 64bit tries to open, then crashes. I tried to do a restore back before the updates, but the restore failed. Tried going back another restore point and it too failed. Rebooted into Safe Mode...tried the restores again they failed. Tried going back another Restore Point and it too failed. Think maybe Microsoft has a major problem that needs addressing...quick...today not tomorrow...NOW! View this thread

My friends computer crashed right after he refused to buy a security program that flashed on his screen while watching the History Channel from his laptop. His McAfee virus program came up and said they took care of it and no further action was required. Then it came up again so he went to do a reboot. This virus or trojans seems to want to allow him to download his files, but is crashed in every other sense of the word. So hes looking for a place to buy an exteranl hard drive to down load his personal files too. But hes not sure whether he will have to replace his hard drive or not. What the **** is this??? When this happens when I open start I cannot get to restart or shut down I actually have to do clt,alt del to log off. and start again. This leads to memory dump. Today I opened my system to get a message that a malware "babylon" was attempting to get into my system and I had that blocked. I then downloaded Mozilla Firefox and something is trying to remove the software, but that too I blocked. I run a full scans every Sunday morning and get the green icon stating nothing found and once in the past I had the same problem that I am writing about where along about midweek I get the brown tent saying I am unprotected, so I bring up essentials to find it says that I haven't ran a scan in a while but shows the date of the last scan as the last Sunday that I ran the scan. The last time I had this issue I took and uninstalled and loaded a new essentials, but If there is a solution to this issue that is a simple fix I would rather do that than keep doing what I did in the past. Running XP pro with SP3 on 10 year old Dell Dimension 4500. I do NOT use MSE. I use AVG malware protection. I allow Microsoft updates to download automatically but I choose when to install. On 3/13/13 I noticed my PC had set a new restore point called "Software Distribution Service 3.0". Checking Windows Update I found 8 legitimate appearing updates on 3/13 but I knowingly did not take any action to install them. Do I have malware? If yes, how do I recover? The updates were: KB2807986 for One Note KB2687505 for Visio Viewer KB890830 for Malicious... I have had this Hp computer for almost a year and the previous owner had it for 4 years and had no problems with it. It has Windows 7. It has currently been giving me issues with freezing and the BSOD STOP: 0x00000116 (0xFFFFFA80056B64E0, 0xFFFFF88004865D9C, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000002) keeps popping up whenever I play a video whether from YouTube or Hulu, and I can't play a game like Diablo 3 or SW the Old Republic anymore because it freezes and my pc restarts in the middle of it. Following with this issue that I do not know how to solve, My windows updates are not working and when I try to do it manually, it pops up an error saying it's Not in Service. I do not know when this issue started but I was beginning to wonder why my pc hadn't updated itself in a long while. I am not a computer wiz, and I have low knowledge on anything internal with pc's. When installing updates, its my other computer, the computer just sits there and never finishes the installs, it doesn't even start them. I have tried rebooting and when it reboots the updates are still there. What can I do about this? View this thread

I am trying to find out what the difference is between Microsoft Security Essentials & Windows Defender is . Both will not run at the same time? Is this due to the first already contains the second....Did I make that clear? Thanks in Advance for any REAL help... no i am not screaming in caps. The caps are for emphasis. Received updates for Vista. Now the computer wil not load the OS, it just sits at a blue screen with a white blinking curser it the upper left hand corne of the screen. I received a call from a man claiming to be calling from Microsoft Security, saying that my computer was spreading malicious files around the internet. I told him that I didn't understand what he was talking about, so he asked me to start up my computer so that he could show me. I explained that I wasn't at home, and he offered to call back in two hours. I told the man that my computer wasn't giving me any problems or error message, and after he asked me what kind of computer I had (which I told him HP) he told me that he was calling from HP support. I feel wary about giving the man any information or even taking his call (if he's bold enough to call back, I think he could tell I was skeptic). I don't use my computer for any downloading or file sharing, and I have antivirus software - so it's likely this is just a scam right? View this thread

I was browsing through Microsoft and Windows Sites and cam across a lot of Driver Updates, Security Updates, etc....And my question is should I be checking these sites periodically for these and searching for the ones that pertain to my PC and then Downloading and Updating from here as well as getting them through the Windows Update? I was using ZoneAlarm firewall before I was convinced that Windows Firewall is good enough. Although since I uninstalled ZoneAlarm and started using win firewall, I have trouble with several things such as windows update, defender definition updates, Dropbox syncing... I do not want to keep updating things manually. That defeats the purpose of automatic updating. I have tried 3 times to download the update on windows 7 computer, 64 bit. I have PC Tools, I have never had a problem before, just in case I added it to my allow list. I also allowed it on my windows firewall. View this thread
