Why, after enduring six "important" software updates tonight, and the lengthy process of downloading, configuring, installing and restarting, does another "important" update show up not five damn minutes later? With another download, configure, restart and install!! Is there anything preventing Microsoft from aggregating all the downloads at once? I am trying to do work here, and I am spending all evening managing Microsoft "important" updates. Please my time is valuable, please stop taking advantage... View this thread

I have a brand new computer, that came with Windows 7 installed. I have been unable to download Windows updates, or updates for other applications such as Office 2010. I've tried at different times for the last three weeks. I can review and select updates, but when I try to download, it just sits at 0% for hours on end. I had installed F-Secure, and thought this might be the source of the problem, but even when I unload F-Secure the problem persists. View this thread

I installed around 8 components in this morning's windows update, which included a graphics adapter WDDM1.1 and 1.2 for my specific video card. Games won't launch and DVD playback has the audio and video out of sync. Attempting to update the video drivers, and the manufacturers nVidia installer say's that it cannot detect that I have an nVidia video card installed! Exact error message: This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware. I've cleared the windows update cache and redownloaded the graphics adapter a couple of times. Each time, after "successful install" no joy, AND when I rescan windows update the same graphics adapter comes up as an important update. Because of this I cannot uninstall the graphics adapter. I've used CCleaner to fix any problems with the registry - no joy I've used drivercleaner.net to remove all nVidia files and registry entries then tried to install the video driver package from the video card manufacturer's website - no joy - this is where I found out that the system doesn't know what video card I have physically installed. I'm at a loss as to how to proceed from here. Any help is greately appreciated! PS the video card is the Galaxy GTX 660Ti 3Gb (very nice card :) My Windows Experience score plummeted from 7.9 to 4.0 because of the two video card tests! View this thread

Hi,I have a McAfee site advisor add on tool that tell me whether a site is safe, dangerous or in the middle. I tried to install Microsoft Updates for my computer but it tells me that it has a virus or unwanted program in the download. I have never got this message before and it makes no sense since it is coming from the companies website that built this computer, especially to make it safer. What do I do? When Windows Update automatically updated my PC I noticed that KB2807986 wasn't checked so it didn't update automatically. I installed it after I noticed it wasn't included in the first batch when I checked to see what updates were installed. There were two important updates and I installed that one. A few hours after installation, when I was using Windows explorer to check for something, it stopped working and didn't give a reason why. Windows Explorer stopped working. It never did that before the update. Did that update or another update cause Windows explorer to stop working and should it be uninstalled? Also why wasn't the update checked and included in the first batch and is the update even needed? View this thread

Lately when I restart my computer Security Essentials does not automatically start. I have to go into all programs and select it and open it. Then it will minimize to my taskbar and stay running. As soon as i shut down my PC and then restart it i have to do the same thig all over again. I do not recall doing anything such as loading a new program or updates to cause this to happen and it started about three weeks ago. Anyone have any idea as to why it isn't starting automatically on a system restart? i have checked in "msconfig" and there is nothing there under services or startup for security essentials. my office package crashes every time i save a document, i have uninstalled and reinstalled and diagnostics are not picking up a problem. I have checked all updates and service packs are correct. i have tried a hotfix that said i couldn't unzip as there is an error code 40??? help please View this thread

The other 9 updates installed successfully, this one failed. I ran the update troubleshooter twice, it said it had fixed two problems but the update still failed to configure. It did not do the first 30% before restarting, like it normally does, but went straight to restart, then after restart failed at 3% and reverted. Is this a fault with the update or is there any action I need to take? View this thread

Why do some of the 2nd Tuesday monthly win8 updates come unckecked to auto install ? Today I received 10 important updates. Eight are checked to auto install, 2 are not checked. I guess I was infected with something. Couldn't do anything. Was able to install Norton360 in safemode. It found many things. I still couldn't use things on my computer, went online to search for answers, tried a few, but no improvement. Downloaded a few suggestions but cannot open/run them, comes up with " open with". The PC in Question says there are no important updates available just two optional ones, the last updates were done on the 13th of last month (Feb 2013 ).I would have accepted that there were no updates as Vista is an old system now, BUT when I ask PC to check for updates there is a message on the result page saying "You have Never installed any updates for your computer" , the list of installed updates have vanished too.Are there any more recent Vista updates available?Where has the installed updates gone?Any help greatly appreciated View this thread

Hi, I accidentally clicked on the log out option on Windows 8 today, and since then. my laptop is stuck on the Please Wait blue screen (there is only one user account on my laptop). Hi all,2 updates (kb2478662 and kb2446710) have not been updating on my computer. I've tried a number of options like downloading these directly off the site, msconfig and using microsoftfixit, none of which worked. This is preventing me from downloading itunes.
