Recently, my windows updates don't download automatically. When I go to the windows icon at the bottom of my screen it says Windows can't check for updates, and when I click on that it gives me error message 80072efe. I have windows vista home basic 2.80 ghz (32 bit). I tried the Fixit,but it didn't work. Any help as to what I should do next? View this thread

as stated above in auto and manual update it offers installation and then appears to install and then fails. I get a temp window page "sometimes" saying that it will be install at next shut down, but at restart it never installs, although the update says fail beforehand. I get error code 40070490. Hello! I'm trying to install a (Czech) language pack onto my Windows 8, but the installation has totally frozen. So far, it says: 'Initialising installation... done! Installing Czech Language Pack - Windows 8 for x64-based Systems - (KB2607607) [cs-CZ_LP] (update 1 of 1)... ', It has been stuck on this stage for twenty minutes without any sign of life. I don't normally install optional updates, but a couple of days ago I did. I updated Windows 7 with the following optional updates: KB2709981 KB2574819 KB2592687 Since then none of my Office products work, except Outlook (sometimes). Each one will open, but as soon as I try to open or create a file , they die "Not Responding." I have tried to unistall the updates from the Control Panel, but nothing happens. The status bar remains empty. I have tried loading the Microsoft Fix It for Windows, but it has been running for over a half hour now detecting problems and detecting additional problems, but not sure its accomplished anything yet. every time this update downloads it cause my computer to operate so slow sometimes IE or email or web sites take 10 min or more sometims it will never open, It will not uninstall from the control panel i finally found out to use the restore will get rid of it, but it comes right back an installs it again I want to know how to stop this from downloading. i am using Win XP -sp3 View this thread

Ok so I have tried every way to get this update to install on my laptop. It downloads, then installs and when I restart my computer it tells me it failed and it is reverting the changes. Ive tried downloading it alone, Ive tried downloading it with other updates..nothing.. please help! View this thread

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Service Pack 1. I am getting repeated notices to install KB2676562 & KB2799494. It creates a restore point and says the updates were installed, but then I am asked to install again. When I try to ask for check for updates, I get Error Code 80070422. View this thread

I have just installed my mse of recent and i took a full scan of the computer and there nothing really severe on it. but now if i want to update virus and spyware definitions the system says failed. that the security essentials couldn't check for virus and spyware definitions updates. check for internet or network connection and try again. but i am connected. just bought new computer with windows 8 installed - must be worst thing I have done in a long time. downloaded overdrive media console for audiobooks but books will not download because my installed windows media player is 2.5.0.0 and not 2.5.0.1. the solution is to upgrade through the program or at http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/indivsite. but this will not do it. keep encountering an error message. can't seem to access any form of useful help thru windows 8 just usual stuff on how to use the program View this thread

I have the surface Rt and I was wondering if there's a third party app or even a Microsoft download that would add more security to my tablet, and I don't just mean a new password on the start screen.
