Yesterday I ran Windows Update, and it installed a number of new updates. After doing this, I tried to access an executable file on a different machine on the work's network through the Windows Explorer (as I've been doing for a long time), but after the update it is unacceptably slow. The response time ranges from 8-12 MINUTES for it to even open the executable, during which time the machine is completely frozen. Accessing the files on other remote machines works fine, navigating the file system on other machines works fine, but launching the executable (or trying to transfer significantly large files) is several times slower than it once was. The fault is not with the connection or the machines: I ran the Remote Desktop to my virtual machine, and was able to access the desired executable in mere seconds. I've restored to the point before I did the updates, run several different virus scans (no viruses detected), cleaned the registry (with RegClean and CCleaner), ran CheckDisk, and disabled TCP Auto-Tuning, all to no avail. I'm running out of ideas and quite frankly getting very frustrated; I need this to be resolved since my work-related projects depend on it. The machine is Windows 7 Enterprise, Service Pack 1, 64-bit OS (if any of these details make a difference). View this thread

I was having a problem with two updates that kept reoccurring - kb*...I can't remember which two. I ran Mr. Fix it, and it reset my Windows update. It's been a couple of months, and my Windows has never updated. When I run Windows update manually, I get error 8008005. It also indicates that Windows has never updated and there is no update history. These must have been deleted when running Mr. Fix it?Now when I run Mr. Fix it, it says it detects a error, and it is corrected, but I still get the same error.I've run the Windows update with Windows firewall shut off, and I still get the error. When I run a "Clean Boot", I still get the same error.Where do I go from here? Thanks View this thread

I installed like 18 updates some Days ago, all recommended excluding silverlight. I finally came about to restart the computer today, and when the computer comes in to desktop, it just shows hourglass when hovering over taskbar. Ctrl+Alt+Del doesnt work, and nothing is clickable on the desktop although it shows the arrow. I used system restore from before the update installation (2 Days ago), but the problem is still there. No other rstore Points are available. I disabled some startup programs in safe mode. Edit: I tried using the Repair on the windows cd, and I tried uninstalling the recent updates. No luck. What to do? View this thread

I found my cure here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2769165 First I closed all the apps, ran System Configuration, setup a safe boot and rebooted. I tried to run it once booted, but the app report it CANNOT run in safe mode. I rebooted normal. I ran it, which seemed to take forever, but with visible progress all along. Then it said we needed to reboot once then install completed. That also took forever to complete, but was successful using the below after the x64 description. Update information How to obtain this update Windows Update This update is available from http://update.microsoft.com) Microsoft Download Center The following files are available for download from the Microsoft Download Center: All supported x64-based versions of Windows 8 http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35612 View this thread

My setup: My name is Floyd CS5 Extended, W8, 64bit, 8 GB memory, Dell XPS 8500 computer with Intel 3770 processor. Dell 2410 24 inch monitor. I purchased this desktop & monitor specifically for the purpose of running Adobe CS5 Extended and other photography related programs. I installed the same program that I previously installed on a W7 desktop about a year ago. Neither of these problems I describe below existed on W7 nor CS4 nor CS3. Also, these problems have not yet occurred outside Photoshop (which I opened through Adobe Bridge). The only other programs I installed on this computer are Datacolor's monitor/printer calibration sw and Imatch image management sw. Photoshop (PS): 1. BLACK SCREEN: This problem happened about 10 times in the only half an hour I have used the program for editing. Sometimes the background behind the layer on which I am working becomes black, bordering my window. Sometimes the entire screen turns black except for the presence of the mouse pointer. Sometimes moving the mouse returns the PS windows, sometimes it does not. Sometimes I do nothing and they return in less than 60 seconds but once it lasted several minutes and I shutdown the program through Windows Task manager. Am hesitant to starting clicking the mouse when I cannot see anything. 2. SELECTIONS: Selections are outlined by a "moving" dashed line. This is what I have experienced in previous versions of PS. However in W8 the border disappears every 4 seconds, remains gone about a second, and then returns. Annoying. Distressing. When I got the computer I installed all available updates from MS. Then I installed CS5 Extended Suite. I ran updates again, but it said I was up to date. When I found these two problems, I ran updates from within both Bridge and PS. In both cases it went to MS, not Adobe, and again said I was up to date. During the decision process for purchasing this setup, I found numerous references at MS and Adobe to CS5's compatibility with W8. Sometimes phrased "No known problems." I would appreciate your help. Thanks, Floyd View this thread

Tried all MS troubleshooting steps, suggestions, Fixits. DONE THEM ALL, some of them more than once. Still get this error. In addition if I try to call up "Installed Updates" the list is empty says no updates installed even though there is a long list of installed (or failed) updates in the update history list. Frustrated beyond belief. View this thread

Severity Rating: Important Revision Note: V1.1 (February 12, 2013): Added a link to Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 2799494 under Known Issues in the Executive Summary. Summary: This security update resolves three privately reported vulnerabilities in all supported releases of Microsoft Windows. The vulnerabilities could allow elevation of privilege if an attacker logs on to the system and runs a specially crafted application. An attacker must have valid logon credentials and be able to log on locally to exploit the vulnerabilities. View this security bulletin
