Hi I'm having a problem where every time I shut my computer down, it says installing update 1 of 1 but it fails to install. My operating system is XP. I've checked replies to similar questions but nothing's worked. I found the number for the update that wouldn't install, (KB2742597) ran the fixit and then went to the Download centre to install it manually. It started to install but after a few seconds this message appeared: The feature that you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. The path CDOCUME"IOwnerLOCALS"ITempXP000"TMPnetfix.msi" cannot be found. It offered an alternative path but that didn't work either. It's so frustrating - can you help? Thanks View this thread

I have twice attempted to downlaod security updates but am told that MS Essentails could not check for updates. I was advised to check my internet setting and connection but both work well. Please help. View this thread

Its downloading and needs around 6 more hours to download. So if download interrupt due to power failure, will it resume with the downloaded content or will it start over..? View this thread

always fails error BC2 I have used fix it and it installs but then it comes back to install and fails again. also the pc crashes every now and again more often than not now. blue screen etc i have run a memory diagnostic and no memory problems. i go back to restore in safe mode and that works for a while and then it happens again. have installed pc health boost to fix errors and that helped for a while am up and running again, do not know how long it will run this time.help. i have acer aspire x1300 bought in 2009 View this thread

I did this about a year ago and everything worked fine. I tried the" fix it" and "ask microsoft" and a long address that ends in "x86-enu.exe" but that was "not available". Again, when I try to connect to "downloads" I get the message http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowserror0x80240036update/. View this thread

Greetings, I have some folks from what apears to be India calling, they told me I had a error on my computer (Viruses) and wanted me to go through some steps in finding it. Anyone have a clue as to what this is all about ? If they are lagit, how do you know, the person calling could barely speak english and when I asked for the manager it was the same thing. I'm trying to install the windows updates and it keeps coming u[p with error 80070490 for updates KB967723, KB970430 and KB972145. I have tried all the trouble shooting suggestions on your website including running Mr Fix Itt the error keeps coming up. Windows7 Home Prem...... Started PC in "Safe Mode with Networking"...... Wanted to try to Install a Windows Update in Safe Mode as the Update will not install. At the Safe Mode desktop (and I see SAFE MODE displayed in the Corners)......I click on COMPUTERPROPERITIES....SYSTEM WINDOWS......left side bottom.....all I see is ACTION CENTER....(Link "Windows Update is not there). Tried clicking Start... in search block typed Windows Update, clicked on Link....the Window does not open..... If I cannot get to the Windows Update Window...I have no way to select the Update that I am having issues installing...and wanted to try to install it in Safe Mode. Am I doing something Wrong? My computer has currently installed: .NET Framework 3.0 SP2 208MB .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 28MB .NET Framework 4 Client Profile 182MB These require a lot of memory compared to Windows XP (220MB) Further, every time I shut down, the system tries to install 2 updates - but possibly fails each time(?). I suspect one of these relates to Framework 3.5 Can someone help me sort this out? View this thread

I have a Gateway Laptop, 2005 vintage. /windows XP Been working fine till this week. Slowed way down so decided to do a full scan with MS Essentials. It would get to C:Documents and settingsAll UsersApplication DataAOLDownloads And then Crash, Shut off completely & immediately. Uninstalled all AOL stuff, including downloads & retried. Same result. I mistakenly dowloaded Coupon Companion and Info atom and I can not uninstall them from my computer. Iam running Windows 7.I have gone to uninstall programs and have to uninstall it from there 5 or 6 times and itwon't install. I have tried to disable it from the manage add on and I can't disable it.
