I am having trouble with windows security. I suspect I have something configured wrong as I do have a roku and a gaming device connected. I also installed wamp server and plex. Error code is 0x80070057 So, what am I doing wrong? Would really appreciate some help on this one! View this thread

I have windows vista. I got the FBI moneypak virus. When I boot up in safe mode it starts the process and then it shows me the FBI moneypak window. How can I get past this to use my removal program that I have on my flash drive? View this thread

I try to install Microsoft security essentials on my pc and it says Windows Program Compatibility mode is not supported by this program. What does this mean and how do I fix this? I meet all the requirements that I read. Any help would be great View this thread

My XP comp switches off after a few minutes of Fullscan. It can do quickscan OK. I had reverted back to a iexplorer 8 browser from Firefox 16 but I doubt if that is the problem as I went back to the firefox and it still doesnt work. Do I have a virus and if so what do I do? View this thread

I received an email claiming to be from the Windows live team requesting my username and password from my hotmail account and from an alternative email. Some personal information was also requested. The reason for the request was that an upgrade of service required closing all unused and anonymous registered accounts. This email threatens to close my account and delete all email if I don't provide this information. This looks suspicious to me. How do I determine if this is legit? View this thread

Default install destination is c:program files or c:program files (x86). Is it possible to change install destination to e:program files or e:program files (x86) as an example? There is no dialogue during MSE setup to change default installation destination. Thanks in advance for assistance/information. View this thread

Did anyone else get "otshot" on their computer? I can't find it using control panel to uninstall it, but each time I reboot it shows up, tries to change my email to Outlook. I have looked for answers on the web and I don't trust the sites I'm finding. I have used Malwarbytes to scrub my hard drive, it tells me it finds nothing amiss. I have used Microsoft Essentials to do a full scan, again no error messages. If anyone has a clue, I'd be glad for insight. I honestly don't know which step I took that allowed this to junp on to my system. Something I did Tuesday had about six things downloading. I think it was when CNN told me I had to download a new adobe. Anyway, I'd be happy to rid myself of this pest. Thanks. Rosemary. View this thread

I'd like to work offline (no internet connection) moving hundreds of large videos, databases, and pictures I'm confident don't present a security problem, and I'd prefer to use the cycles for my task rather than needlessly scanning. I KNOW that I am infected somewhere because all of a sudden today, almost nothing works!! I can't download, the page is jumping all around. SOMETHING is dreadfully wrong! So I am trying to run a full MSE scan and it is now HALF way through and it has been 5 1/2 hours. I think maybe the virus or trojan or whatever is messing this up, also. I am elderly and I don't know much about computers, and I am really upset about this. I have PAID for Norton and when I took my computer into a repair shop about four months ago, he put MSE on and said not to use Norton. He said Norton is horrible and causes alot of problems. Whenever I boot my computer two error windows appear. The first says: C:WINDOWSsystem32mustafx2.exe The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. Choose 'close' to terminate the application. The second is identical, except that mustafx2.exe is replaced by mustafx.exe. If I click on 'close' for each, I can continue normally. A search on these two files reports that each is a virus. Yet Microsoft Safety Scanner and Microsoft Security Essentials don't pick them up. How can I get rid of them? I'm running Windows XP, SP3. Thanks for any help. View this thread

Everytime I get windows 8 updates the majority of them fail to install they get downloaded, restart to install get to about 9% then restart and roll back it's a pain, with the majority of updates failing to install. Why is this happening? I have scoured the net and it seems a very common problem. tried disabling Svcs turning off, windows defender, downloading and trying to install one by one - but nothing seems to work. Starting about a week ago, my email slowed down so much it became unusable. It is only a problem accessing my university webmail from inside the hospital across the street. Still works fine at the library. And other Web sites like Microsoft or Google contiue to work normally inside the hospital firewall.
