I received a call from someone with a thick Indian accept which said my comupter was showing errors and to click on an icon on the left side of the bottom of my computer, a windows icon. I have run XP Pro on a Dell 5150C for 3 years, but some files have become corrupted. I re-formatted the disc, and reloaded XP from a reinstall disc provided by Dell, and containing SP2. Hallo zusammen,habe heute versucht, Daten von meiner externen Trekstor Platte zu laden und es ging nicht. Vor ein paar Wochen hat es noch einwandfrei funktioniert.Ein paar Details: PC ist ein Medion Akoya mit Windows 7 32. Die externe Festplatte ist eine Trekstor maxi.mu und über USB angeschlossen.Habe in diesem Forum gestöbert und einige Tips probiert, aber keiner hat geholfen.Die Festplatte habe ich aus dem Geräte-Manager entfernt und den PC neu gestartet. Die Treiberinstallation ist gestartet, wurde dann aber vom System abgebrochen.Bei der Problembehandlung hat der PC ein Problem mit dem Treiber angezeigt, aber bei der Problembehandlung kam dann, dass die Treiber auf dem neuesten Stand ist.Im Explorer ist das Gerät nicht zu finden. Im Bereich Geräte und Drucker findet man es, aber mit einem total komischen Namen mit Zeichen, von denen ich nicht mal wußte, daß es sie auf dem PC gibt.Wie gesagt, bis vor ein paar Wochen hat es auf gleichem PC mit gleichem Betriebssystem noch einwandfrei funktioniert.Hoffe, Ihr könnt mir helfen, denn die Daten auf der Platte sind immens wichtig.Danke im vorausViele GrüßeIngo View the thread

Windows 7 Home.. I was sorting pictures in my picures library and they all disappeared. I found them in favorites/recent places but when i try to copy them back to my pictures it is only a shortcut. On switching my PC I have this strange message : 'This copy of Windows is not activated. In order to be properly licensed this copy must be activated' ... I am a little dubious as I have had this PC with Windows XP for nigh on eternity. Can't remember exactly when I first bought it. I have - so far - been perfectly happy with it and quite sure all this licence activation would have been done all these years ago. Over the years there has been many installs of new add on hardware such as new printer, new scanner, new monitor etc ... also install of dropbox, skype, I-tune and still it all works OK... So why do I have on my desktop this permanent message telling me to activate within 3 days. Actually have only 1 day left of the warning as I've been away 2 days already ... Also the Microsoft logo is not one that I recognise... This one is a 5 point stylised star ... Is this all genuine ? Can I go ahead and follow the instructions given ?... Hi Gang, This is a follow up to a previous post concerning potential clashes between Essentials & all other free or paid protection software. I wasnt sure if I was supposed to post this below the last entry of my initial post inquiry so apologies if I'm costing valuable time, and effort. That being said, I bought a re-furbished HP desktop p6320y w/a MSI ll 785GSM mainbrd. running 8Gs of ram, upgradable to 16Gs max, a AMD Phenom quad 2.8Ghz w/ovr.clk. ability, a new 2TB hitachi SATA 7200 rpm, a fresh version of W/7 w/SP1 & Essentials everything up to date. I followed the most consistent instructions recv'd from most of you & all seemed well up until 3 months latter I caught some virus that locked me out of booting up. I tried the emergency boot up disk I burned as requested to no avail. I even have a system shadow stored unto a external hrdriv. but didn't think I would be forced to start from scratch. I took it to the shop and was blown away to find that my desktop had 19 various infections/malware I thought Essentials was enough to catch and neutralize. I was told never to mix essentials w/another antispy/malware program for it would cause clashes, however Malaware antibytes kept coming up as a safe program to add that would benefit my system working only one program at a time (essentials, malaware) It seemed to work well for about a week then I couldnt help myself & clicked on the malawares homepage when running to see if there was anything else it could do! Bamh!!!! Everything froze up and it took me a full hour of trying to reach a previous resto point which fianlly worked. Now I am left totally confused and concerned about using this seemingly cool free software in the future.
