Computer was working fine until I made a change in settings for the Wireless Adapter I had connected. The screen when black & I couldn't do anything. I restarted the computer, pushed the F10 button, had the choice of recovery solutions, chose System Recovery without losing data, recovery successful, clicked on "Next" to choose country & cursor is frozen. Tried another mouse & keyboard, same thing, tried changing batteries in mouse, same thing. Have tried restarting, gets to the choose country screen & freezes. View this thread

For the last week the Store tile has been displaying "5" on my Surface RT. Going into the Store, "installing update" displays in the top right corner. Clicking on that link reveals that Adera is trying to install an update with a progress meter going nowhere. The Adera tile on the start screen doesn't have an "uninstall" option. I found a powershell script that allows you to uninstall apps. This works fine on my desktop PC running Win8 Pro, but to no avail on RT. Its driving me mad. Any ideas? View the full article

Hello, I have noticed that most of my background running apps, the ones with icons in the taskbar notification are (bottom right) keep closing/disappearing. Things like my Asus Audio App, My Logitech G software, My AV etc. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? OS: Windows 8 Pro x64. i5 2500k, 16gb RAM, 256gb SSD, 3tb HDD. Thanks. Ok, so my Lenovo laptop is about 2 years old. All the garbage on it was slowing it down and I did not want to put all the bloat ware back on it, so I decided to go with a fresh copy of windows 7 instead of lenovos recovery, and install all the needed drivers myself. So everything went fine until I tried to activate it. When I try to activate, it says error code 0xc004e003, and says the key is invalid. I tried phone activation and MS said the same thing that the key is invalid. Whats funny is when I click the button that says purchase a new key, it says "welcome to windows, because the version of windows installed on your pc is valid, enjoy....." It doesn't even give me a link to purchase. Any ideas? View the thread

Original title: Legal Options I'm finding several years after having my computer updated, that my software for Office 2003 and Windows XP are not legal. My Windows Media Player doesn't work either. I have the disc for Windows 98, which must have been my last legal version. I am a senior on a fixed income (don't you get tired of hearing that? Original Title: Printer Problems My printer printed 1 page fine then the printer sounded like it wanted to make more prints even though I only asked for 1. Now, the yellow lite is flashing. I have checked this: No paper jam. I cancelled all print jobs, just in case, though none showed. I turned off all equipment, restarted and yellow button still flashing. The ink cartridge is new. I asked for Windows helps for printer problems, none shown. I asked Microsoft for help, no reply. Any help is greatly appreciated. I was trying to watch a movie and could hear the music but the speech is so so quiet we can't hear what they are saying. We are running vista if that helps. Does anyone know how to fix this please? Also, we were able to watch movies through the pc to the tv when we attached an HDMI cable. The picture goes to the tv, but there is no sound and the pc has no visual. Hi: I was trying to clear out then import the contact information in my Windows Mail Contacts Gadget. (It had not populated relative to my new list of imported email contacts.) Well, the Contact Gadget was deleted. I tried finding it on Microsoft's web page, so that I could download and reinsatll it, but the web page said something to the effect that only Windows 7 Gadgets were now being supported.
