News Bot posted a topic in Operating Systems Help & Support
I deleted some, not all of the sample pictures which were installed on the lap top. Can you tell me how to restore them? Tried restoring the lap top, but they didn't return. View this thread -
I have just e-mailed an individual and now feel this is a scam. Is there any way my e-mail address can be used to access any information that may be sensitive to me. e.g. bank accounts etc. View this thread

The options not there, is on folders or programs etc. But on a web shortcut with the icon I want to actually appear on the Start Screen nothing. Why? How do I set an icon for a web shortcut made from the Touch IE? Maybe it's the 30 degree room I'm sitting in or the ENTIRE FUCKING DAY spent configuring a single Windows 8 Tablet, dealing with all this nightmare BS... BUT FUCK YOU MS. Forcing us to have an MS Account for touch apps, Taking away fucking options and features, Having a BROKEN system (fucking uninstall Mail. Cant reinstall, its fucking NO WHERE), FUCKING MY ENTIRE DAY UP JUST TO GET A FUCKING TABLET WITH SKYPE AND EMAIL WORKING? FUCK YOU. View the full article

An SSD primary drive has about half of its space free, but once in a while Windows 8 suddenly gives a Low Disk Space warning. The properties window of the drive shows it has little free space left, but this is wrong. The following screenshot of Folder Size shows only 82.81GB is used, but the properties of the drive (C:) show that 167.10GB is used. Rebooting the computer will fix this. I have never seen this problem before using Windows 8, so I assume it is related to Windows 8. Could anyone shed some light on this? Hong View the full article

I created a custom system image by creating a directory "C:Refreshimage" and typing "recimg -Createimage C:Refreshimage" All from an elevated prompt. The system created a file "CustomRefresh.wim" in that directory. Later I searched "refresh", went to "settings","Troubleshoot","Advanced options", "System Image Recovery". The system rebooted, I selected my account, entered my password, hit "continue". Got the following response: WINDOWS CAN NOT FIND A SYSTEM IMAGE ON THIS PC. I need some help. I'm lost. I was still having problems with my windows live messenger so I did a through cleaning of my computer for viruses and and anything else that might be corrupted and then I let a friend "fix" it believing him when he said he could. windows Media Player worked fine before he touched it and now it won't respond the same way. I also use Firefox as my main browser just to mention that so if anyone else who uses that engine might be able to help or does that matter at all for that player. he worked for 5 hours trying to get it to work right again but has finally given up. it also seems that every site that I thought might help ended up being for vista or windows 7-8. the windows media player does work just that I have to do a bunch of click on this and then that and then play. I just want it back to normal. thx for any advice Original title : how do I repair windows Media Player so it will automaticly play CDs or DVDsit stopped after I cleaned up my computer . Exactly as the title says. I want to use this touch interface mail for our existing exchange accounts. But then the mail app requires me to setup an MS Account...? We have hundreds of users - this is retarded. Do Apple require me to setup Apple IDs for exchange access? What gave anyone the retarded idea that this would be ok? Seriously what do I do? I have hundreds of users and will be moving a few to Windows 8 Tablets - Creating Microsoft Accounts isn't an option for an enterprise at all. View the full article

Hi, Just this morning I was using windows 8 with no problems and had to restart for some reason or another, and when I came back to my PC I found that Windows booted normally until I got to the welcome screen where it would come up with my normal color scheme and say "Please wait" it did this for so long that the lockscreen appeared, then for a split second my screen went black, then Please wait appeared again but for some reason it had the default blue color scheme, again this took so long the lockscreen appeared but that was also the default picture, then it went crazy and started going black every other second constantly coming up with that same "Please Wait" screen. All very strange to me, I have never had such a strange issue.. Anyway, I am able to access all Safe Modes, whilst in safe mode I attempted to disable all services and startup programs, I restarted but this had no affect, so I'm back in safe mode (with networking). I can only assume that this is a driver related issue or something worse since I have disabled every service and startup program. I do have access to a fully functional Windows 8 Enterprise Eval. on a separate partition as well as Linux Mint (both are EFI OSs including my Windows 8 Pro). I've tried doing all the fun stuff like automatic repair (which failed) and System Restore (Which coughed up a few errors and now tells me that I have never had a restore point, well, apart from the several that I had before it failed to restore to the point I asked it to originally -.-) Sorry if I was a little long-winded, it's just that I am personally very surprised at this, it is the most significant bug I have ever seen in my life that is windows related, so help would be very much appreciated because if you guys can't help me, looks like refresh time ;). Thanks, YanN509. View the full article

Ok, i've installed Windows 8 Pro. Until now, I've got the habit of moving the pagefile.sys to a secondary HDD, on a dedicated partition. It was easy to move it. Now in 8 a new file - swapfile.sys is present for use with Metro Apps. But there is no setting to allow it to be moved to another HDD. It's linked to the pagefile.sys only when you disabled this one, it will dissapear too, but if you move this one, the swapfile.sys still remains on the C: Any ideea of how to move also this one ? My main "HDD" is now an SSD, and I don't want this file here, I want to move it on the dedicated partition of an VelociRaptor HDD. For the moment I've disabled them, but I have 2 games and one software wich don't work unless I have pagefile. View the full article

Hi, When booting with a DART 8 media (created using MDOP 2012), and accessing the "Diagnostic and Recovery Toolset", many features display a black unusable link labeled "Tool requires a supported offline OS". 1. The installed OS is Windows 8 PRO, x64 and so is DART (x64) 2. When using the "Explorer" feature (which works), I can access without any problem the drive on which Windows is installed. Q: What is a "supported offline OS" then? Thanks. Thomas. View the full article

encounter a problem that it does not deposit a copy into the "send folder". besides using the 3rd party utility, is there a quick fix from microsoft to rebuild the 'send folder' as the instructions given seems to be fairly technical and long? also under tools>options>advance.maintenance, what does the number means? shall we adjust it higher or lower if we encounter the problem that it does not deposit a copy in the "send folder"? many thanks for your help View this thread
