I purchased FastAgain PC Booster 3 months ago and have not been able to use it yet. They require you Register & get a key, but this is impossible. I tried to get a refund thru PayPal whom I used to process my payment for this junk and it was denied. I cannot use this because I can't get it registered. Recently I updated from IE8 to IE9 and had about a month of trouble-free browsing. Then IE9 started to get very slow loading pages and eventually just became completely unresponsive. I have just uninstalled it and have reverted to IE8 but, after the program opens, it is also unresponsive. What should I do? Uninstall IE8 and then reinstall it? As it happens I also downloaded Google Chrome around the same time I updated to IE9 and actually posted a question about whether Chrome can interfere with Windows in any way. Since then the laptop freezes I was experiencing have completely stopped - thankfully! - and so I don't think Chrome was interfering in any way with Windows (though I wonder if it might have affected Internet Explorer). At the moment Google Chrome is working very well but, after many years using IE, I would still like to be able to browse with it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin. View this thread

My computer, unable to start due to a HP update this morning, had to go through a full factory restore. I backed up my files beforehand on a USB drive, however, when I've opened the USB to restore my files, I am unable to open the restore.exe application. I used to be able to just save files to my external hard drive and my files were backed up to the HD automatically. Now this does not happen and I cannot save files on my EXT HD. I am using GP user preferences to create shortcuts on my users' desktops. On all my Vista/Win7 machines they are fine and the icons are what I set them to be. on all my Win8 machines the icon is just a blank white square. If I right-click and view the icon, the correct image appears. But when the user is looking at the desktop the image is blank. I have upgraded a couple machines, scratch built one, and purchased an OEM version on a new laptop. All are the same: blank shortcut icons. I am running XP on a toughbook; the control key sometimes doesn't work. I have searched for ways to remap the control key and have found many third party programs purporting to help with this and have heard also that MS has a program to do this. I'd rather stick to a MS cure but so far no luck finding this program or running "mskey". What to do? I received an attachment in an email as a .wav file and I wanted to open it or listen to it. When I download as a zip and try to play it I get this error message telling me that the Windows Media player was not installed correctly and needs to be reinstalled. This has been an ongoing issue for many years (4) now. When I go to windows help page they ask for a validation code and i don't know where it is. My Dell computer came with software pre-installed.
