This may help: http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_windows_xp_and_windows_7_xp_installed_first.htm I cannot find the link for with Windows 7 installed first.. But if you look through the list on the right it is pritty much the same princible with Dual Booting most opererating systems.A little reading and learning and you should be fine.
  6. Hello there. It is possible you need to reinstall the software and drivers... What is the make and model of the machine?
  7. Reinstall your printer drivers and software.
  8. Strange........The paritory error normaly points to memory....Or a faulty slot..... Download and install: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php I need you to monitor the temps,do not adjust anything.....Monitor during game play and also once the computer has been running for a few hours.... Now I am not sure if you are familiar with the BIOS,however as you have fitted new RAM I guess your familiar with the computer internals. Power off the computer and remove from wall outlet. Open up the computer and locate the BIOS battery.Remove the battery count 20 and replace.... Do you know how to enter BIOS via your F1,F2 OR Dell key onstartup? Restart the computer and on the black screen it will say to enter setup press ?...?Is either F1,F2 or DEl key. Once in BIOS under advanced tab,Power Management. Make sure these items are disabled. Power up on PCI device. Automatic power up. AC power loss restart. Power on PS/2 MOUSE. Power on PS/2 keyboard. This error is possibly a BIOS setting....
  9. Here is all the information: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ Hard drives do not come already setup.....
  10. This maybe the cause: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/101272 Check the Memory Remove any extra memory modules that are in the computer, leaving only the least amount that is required for the computer to start and run Windows. Restart the computer to see whether the error messages persist. If the error does not reappear, the issue is isolated to one or more of the RAM modules that you removed from the computer. Continue to remove and replace the minimum amount of RAM required, using the memory modules that you removed. When the error returns, you have isolated the individual memory module that is responsible for the problem. This process may require you to restart your computer several times to pinpoint the specific memory module that is not working correctly. Test each RAM stick individualy..... Solution Replace the defective RAM module. Microsoft has released a software memory diagnostic tool, Windows Memory Diagnostic. Windows Memory Diagnostic tests the Random Access Memory (RAM) on your computer for errors. To download this tool, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp
  11. Did you burn these disks yourself and make them bootable? Or were they supplied with the laptop or another machine or did you order them from Dell? If you ordered them from Dell recently I would contact Dell. For USB install try this: http://extremetechsupport.com/threads/10305-How-to-install-Windows-using-a-USB-Pen-Drive-and-WinToFlash.
  12. 1. Go into the BIOS Setup and check that the HDD is being seen by the BIOS and correctly identified Also make sure that all your drives are set to "Auto" detect. 2. Would be a good idea to run the HDD manufacturers diagnostic utility to test th HDD to see if it's healthy. 3. Use fdisk to look at the partitioning. See if it looks OK and whether the 1st Primary Partition [the C: partition with Windows on it] is SET AS ACTIVE. Set it active if it isn't. A blank hard drive needs to be partitioned and formatted not just formatted. Have you tried the Dell website and there support for your make and model of machine? Was this computer origonaly XP? Did it come pre-installed with XP,Vista or Windows 7? As what I have found is the laptop origonaly came with XP and a smaller HDD of just 80 gigs.... Has the Vista and Windows 7 disk been used on a diffrent computer? I think maybe you bought a to large a hard drive and your machine cannot power it correctly. Dell says the Operating system is corrupted...As there is no operating system installed I would asume the error is the disks you try to use they are either damaged, corrupted or another issue.
  13. Hello and welcome... Firstly is the Vista and Windows 7 CD/DVDs full install disks or recovery disks? Have you loaded defaults in BIOS then set first boot device to CD/DVD rom popped in the disk and save and exit?

  16. Did you set first boot device in BIOS to CD/DVD rom then put disk in and press F10 save and exit... What make and model is your latop and do you know if it has a recovery console already installed?

  20. Hello and welcome.... Your MainBoard supports: 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 2 x PCIe x1 3 x PCI
  21. Your welcome Dave, depending on what mainboard and CPU you buy the CPU usaly has a little triangle or a mark on one corner wich will match up on the mainboard marking......So you cannot go wrong in fitting it. The CPU fan can be a little tight to fit, just be carefull.
  22. Hello and welcome. Your video card has either failed or your RAM is bad... Remove all RAM if you have more than one stick inserted. Place on stick of RAM in the slot nearest CPU reboot the computer. Does it now turn on? Remove the RAM stick and insert another and again reboot. Do this untill all RAM sticks are tested.... I am confused about this statement?
