  1. Happy Birthday Dude...xx
  2. Your welcome. I cannot understand why Acer did not supply the disk as my childs Acerone had the disks in the box. Try advertising on FaceBook if you use it........Or try buying on eBay or Amazon, look for the cheapest prices.
  3. I agree with both of the guys.....Your recovery partition is either gone or corrupt.... I would sugest either contacting Acer for a set of recovery disks or buying a retail disk....
  4. Here is a help link: Delete a hard disk partition Create and format a hard disk partition
  5. Hello there. I asume you you used and external CD/DVD rom drive to install windows? Your error is proberly you have an earlier service pack on the CD and a newer one on the disk.... Now your disk also is it OEM or a retail disk? A retail disk comes supplied with its own COA key and OEM comes supplied with a new computer/laptop. You CANNOT use a retail disk on the Acer One it is illegal. Were are your recovery disks that came with the Acer one? If you wish to use the old CD and it is OEM then you should delete the partition during install and create a new one.... Or use the recovery disks and an external CD/DVD rom setting first boot device in BIOS to USB external hardware. If you delete the partition using recovery disks then you will not be able to use the recovery disks to install windows as an instillation of windows needs to be on the hard drive to use recovery.. Or you can install windows as : http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/hard-drives-pen-flash-and-usb/10305-install-windows-using-usb-pen-drive-and-wintoflash.html
  6. Hello there, are you booting from CD/DVD rom drive or HDD? Did you reset BIOS to boot from HDD after the install process? Are you using a full install disk or a recovery disk? A recovery disk is only workable if you already have windows installed fully. As you said you deleted your partition earlier and now have issues..... Hence this could be why you get the error. If you used a full install disk then I sugest a full reinstall of windows. If you used a copy disk then possibly none bootable disk, bad copy or damaged copy. Are you sure you allowed the full instillation process to continue, you do not remove the disk untill you can login to windows.
  7. Excellent Jay.......Glad it is sorted out for you....
  8. http://www.sevenforums.com/attachments/general-discussion/35589d1257655662-locked-folders-permissions.jpg Try the above......
  9. Jay this depends on what folders you are trying to unlock?
  10. Great..Let me know how it goes....
  11. Sarah,Starbuck has posted more help for you, just go up a few posts.... Dalo is no longer online to answer you...
  12. Do NOT press repeatedly.... Turn off the computer. Restart the computer. Press and HOLD down the F11 key. EDIT:Oooops sorry Starbuck I butted in there while you were still on the job...
  13. F8 or F10. But try F8 first if that dont work then restart and try F10. Possibly F12 depends on age of computer. However this link says to press and hold down F11 on startup...Not repeatedly tap it...Also sometimes it may take a few attempts for this to work.... How to Boot an HP Recovery Partition | eHow.com
  14. Sarah do you have a legal Vista upgrade disk? I actualy think this fix is you need a recovery disk or full install XP disk to run a repair install....
  15. I am with you Dalo,Gigabyte is my choice.
  16. Sarah, on your start up screen is your hard drive listed? Or in BIOS did you see it listed? Do not worry I PMed a security guy to pop on and check your thread and see what he can do for you... Ahh no disks ok.
  17. This appears to me to be a possible virus... Do you have a recovery disk or a full install disk for XP?
  18. When using safe mode it is very slow and can take a few minutes to kick in..... Do you remember what the blue screen error said or was it just a blue screen? Do you have the recovery disk or install disk for your machine? Can you restart the machine and on the black screen you will see at the bottom written:To enter set up press ?......Or press ? to enter setup... The question mark maybe the Del key,F1 or F2 key...It will say on the screen wich to press. Once in BIOS locate were it says load defaults or set defaults in BIOS. This usaly will be press a certain key on your keyboard.... Press the key then press F10 key to save the default settings. You may get a pop up box that says Y/N type y and hit enter on your keyboard the machine should restart... I know it sounds a little off putting going into the BIOS but once you are in there and read the screen its not so hard.... Did you have any slowness,or issues with the computer before this happened? Or any hardware problems such as the CD/DVD drive?
  19. Can you restart the machine and then repeatedly tap the F8 key on startup..... A list will come up and choose last known good config, see if that choice gets you into windows. If not restart again,F8 again and choose safemode with networking...
  20. Hello there. Can you do the following steps:Our Security guy will then check the results and give you further help. Step 1 Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator). It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin. Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion. Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean. Step 2 Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop. Make sure you are connected to the Internet. Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked: Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware [*]Then click Finish. [*]MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. [*]On the Scanner tab: Make sure the "Perform Full Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. [*]If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. [*]The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. [*]When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found". [*]Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process. [*]Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found. [*]Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. [*]When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below) [*]The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM. [*]Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM. Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. Step 3 Download OTL to your desktop. if you have problems, try this download link: OTL Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted. When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output. Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check . . http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/starbuck50/new/newOtl2.png Now copy the lines in the codebox below. Code: netsvcsmsconfig%SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe/md5starteventlog.dllscecli.dllnetlogon.dllcngaudit.dllsceclt.dllntelogon.dlllogevent.dlliaStor.sysnvstor.sysatapi.sysIdeChnDr.sysviasraid.sysAGP440.sysvaxscsi.sysnvatabus.sysviamraid.sysnvata.sysnvgts.sysiastorv.sysViPrt.syseNetHook.dllahcix86.sysKR10N.sysnvstor32.sysahcix86s.sysnvrd32.syssymmpi.sysadp3132.sys/md5stop%systemroot%\*. /mp /s%systemroot%\system32\*.dll /lockedfiles%systemroot%\Tasks\*.job /lockedfiles%systemroot%\system32\drivers\*.sys /lockedfilesCREATERESTOREPOINT right click in the Custom Scans/Fixes window (under the blue bar) and choose Paste. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/starbuck50/new%20forum/scan-fix.png . Click the Run Scan button. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/starbuck50/runscan.png Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long. When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL. Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post them with your next reply. In your next reply, please submit: MBAM scan report Both reports from OTL Thanks. __________________
  21. Hello Andrew..... Ok are you sure the internal speaker cables are connected correctly? Have you installed the sound driver and any software that comes with it? Have you checked in Windows Sound to see if anything is muted? I have Realtek sound card and I have to use there software inconjunction with windows sound software... Ok I know what I have written you may of already tried. In device manager doe these ports show and do they have any yellow symbol next to them? Do you have any unknown devices listed? If you have installed the drivers and software, what I do as an easy fix is I plug in all my sound equipment like head set and speakers. I go to device manager and uninstall the sound card driver then reboot my computer....This often kick in the connections to make them work....Simple trick that often works... Sorry if I appear a little grumpy.....I have been working on computers at home and now am dog tired.
  22. Ha ha ha...... It appears to be slowing down now....Less and less arriving so fingers crossed....
  23. Ok,turn off the computer.Remove from power outlet. Touch your PSU for a few seconds to help eliminate static. Open up the tower and locate a large battery on the mainboard that looks like a digital watch battery only it is a bit bigger than a penny. It should have two small clips holding it in place... Remove the battery for one minute then replace. Resart the computer. If above dont work.... Could you test the card in another computer? If no there would be a few smaller computer shops who would test this card for you...
  24. Hello and welcome. I am not sure of the problem yet. But have you connected all cables correctly internaly and have you checked you have not loostened any cables? It says on your HP link the PCI slot x 16 is not available...But I asume this is due to the origonal old GPU being in that slot... Have you tried powering off and using the BIOS reset jumper or removal of the BIOS battery for 1 minute, relpace and reboot?
