  2. I am just wondering why you wiped off Windows 7? It appears you are trying to download and install Windows 7 drivers.
  3. Hello and welcome. Signal up is just a form of antenna. I am not sure what you are trying to say? Is it not working then update driver for the wirless card... Go to the Acer website and under support input the make and model of Acer you have and download the hardware driver..

  7. Hello and welcome. Firstly what make and model is the mainboard please? I am reading the Technical Specs and it says you can have upto: Up to 4GB23 Dual-Channel DDR2 SDRAM (533MHz) So no you cannot have the 800MHz RAM.Plus there is no need to order RAM from Dell you could purchase it elsewere cheaper. I also would look more at 500 watt PSU. Please read: Dell Dimension E520 Product Details | Dell

  9. Personaly something may of been removed that should not of.. If you could access the internet before you ran Malwarebytes then do a system restore to just before you ran the software then visit our Malware section and lets the boys help you....
  10. The first thing I would do is enter BIOS and check all your hardware shows such as your hard drive.... Ok have you tried rebooting and repeatedly tapping F8 key and choose last known good config or safe mode? Do either of these work?
  11. I am not laughing...... I have seen a computer as bad as this some weeks ago... Your choice, let the boys fix it.... My choice is wipe it.... I would clean up a computer if it is only going to be a fairly quick job....I take one look at this and I say ohh no I cannot be bothered.....
  12. Could you try something for me? Unplug any external adaptors not required for booting such as internet or USB. Enter BIOS and load defaults then set your hard drive to first boot device.Save and exit. Does that get you into windows? You can download a Boot Disk from here: Bootdisk.Com You may need to do a repair install. Are you setting first boot device in BIOS to CD/DVD rom then popping in the disk and save and exit?
  13. Hello and welcome...............
  14. Are you able to enter BIOS and can you see all your hardware listed? Does it happen in safe mode also? If yes I would sugest setting first boot in BIOS to CD/DVD pop in the FULL install disk save and exit. During the install delete the origonal partition and create a new one so all old data and OS has gone. Then do a full install. Does the machine have a hidden recovery partition you could use and do a full recovery on the machine?
  15. Hello there. Firstly please do not make multiple threads on the same issue as this can confuse help given. The ATA error appears to be the hard drive error.Possibly if you have a SATA HDD the CD is looking for IDE HDD or vice verca.Or your hard drive is damaged. To fix the XP error you receive try: Error message: "Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem" Error Message: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt Also XP maybe running a newer service pack than what is on your XP disk..........Slip streaming the latest SP may help fix the issue. The for Ubuntu install maybe due to damaged HDD,or problems with CD drive, the live CD may of not been burnt correctly. Enter BIOS and set CD/DVD drive as first boot pop in disk then save and exit. I am not the uBuntu expert but I did a search and it appears your hard drive is the problem.I maybe wrong so if you can hang on and I am sure one of the boys will help further....
  16. Are you placing the hard drive and CD drive on the same IDE cable? Have you upgraded your IDE cable to a newer one?
  17. Jimmy are you able to enter BIOS? Is the BIOS passworded?
  18. Hello and welcome.
  19. Thats it KenB.... I was wondering if this speaker is not fitted maybe thats why he hears no beeps?
  20. I took a look at the mainboard. The one I am looking at is on Newegg. Specs say onboard speaker.Wich I asume is the sound card. Next to the blue IDE connection you should see a green SPK port for the onboard speaker. This is why it is not beeping? Am I possibly right or wrong here?

  23. Hello Jimmy. I maybe wrong on this one and I am sure the boys will correct me if I am wrong. This appears to possibly be a CD drive error. Does the machine support booting from USB? If yes then try this for installing windows: http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/hard-drives-pen-flash-and-usb/10305-install-windows-using-usb-pen-drive-and-wintoflash.html It will take some time to install windows but it does work,I have used this myself.
