It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop. Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis. Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in Notepad. Ema are you full admin or is the computer full admin to someone else at your home like mum and dad?

Do you have an IE icon under all programs? Right click on task bar and choose properties then look at the show on start menu and check box Internet link and use drop downboax to list IE.

Ok I can sugest you uninstall IE7 then reinstall via add and remove I am not sure if it will work but it may. But first lets try click start/right click on the IE icon and choose properties set your security and privacy to medium to low. Close and reopen any IE pages see if that helps.

Ema do this for me. Click start/open control panel/add and remove/check box show updates/in there should show you which IE you are using.

Ema do you have the light blue strip at the top of the window below the adress bar? If yes right click on it do you get a box with a list menue bar/favs bar etc? Or do you see tools listed there?

Much apprecciated Chilly. Ok your bandwith fair usage policy includes any bandwith usage that includes such items as XBOX,play station,youtube and so on. It is anything connected to your pc or wireless router that needs to connect to the internet. It all comes under fair usage I am afraid to say. I know it is very unfair for ISP to do this but hey we cannot stop them.

Hi Chilly. Sky uses a diffrent sort of P2P.Sky uses what we call "streaming" not P2P. It is not technicaly P2P. As for uTorrents and similar software it is out of bounds on most forums due to legal legalities.We have to protect ourselves or the forum could be shut down along with many others. Please read the rules.;) If you want me to find you some information on streaming so it can be explained fully to you then I can sure post you some links. Hey Chilly the speed maybe so slow that it disconnects you. I will give you an example: Mat you can read this also as your post is slightly incorrect: Sky.com - Sky Products>Broadband>Terms and Conditions>Usage Policies Now I am on the Sky 16 meg plan and there is supposed to be no capping,wrong. I also only receive around 8 meg speed,terrible I know.But nothing I can do about that. Chilly if Tiscali runs its braodband like Sky then you WILL be disconnected. Once I have been on the internet with Sky for a certain amount of time I get disconnected every few minutes some times or around every half an hour. This is realy annoying. Now going with any ISP these days means you do not get the speed they advertise you get "upto" speed. So due to this "Upto" you may pay for lets say 10 meg speed but you may only be lucky to get 5-6 meg.Yup due to the "Upto" clause. The best thing to do Chilly is to ask people in your area who have diffrent ISP what there actual speed is and what they are paying for,compare the diffrences.Ask family and friends. Once my contract is up with Sky I am off back to Virginmedia. I paid for 10 meg braodband and I got just under 10,very good steady speeds although they also cap your downloads. BT does your internet through the phone line not cable so remember there download/upload speeds will not be great at all. Chiily your thread was locked due to the issue of P2P uTorrent software. Chilly I answered your question. Tiscali - Fair usage policy It is not your issue caused by your computer.It is Tisaclies fair usage policy. We cannot force them to give you privilaged better speeds you all come under there fair usage policy. When we refer to P2P we associate this with such programs as uTorrent and Limewire and programs of s similar nature. If you spread your downloading over a period of time and do not spend so much time online games then your speed would be fine. This is not a fix for any Tech to help with but a Tiscali fair usage policy. You can ring them and have them explain it to you in better detail,upgrade your speed or move to a diffrent ISP.

Thankyou for that Tootech,let me also just add to this. You are downloading and using online games etc. Tiscalii also caps your speed. Tiscali brought in the fair usage rule. Hence once you have used a certain limit of bandwith per day or hourly however they rate this.Or when you have downloaded a certain GB of files they slow your speed right down.Virginmedia does the same. So during peek times your speed is slowed for not just you but all customers in your area,then you are also using a lot of bandwith and downloading. You have exceded your limit.There is no way this can be fixed. Have a read: Tiscali - Fair usage policy Unless you go for a higher meg broadband speed which will give you a slightly larger allowance. Strong views there Mat. But the cross thing yes that to me is a disgrace,other religions can were items of jewlery to mark there religion and christians cannot were the symbol of the cross. We are all blameing Gordon Brown for this expences issue,yet this was brougth to light by Gordon Brown. This expences issue was not founded under Labour but has been going on for many years way before Brown.Press and people trying to make Brown the scape goat when infact any gouverment that has ever been in power ripped the people off in this way.All parties are to blame not just labour. I trust none of the parties. I also belive the British laws are way to leanient. It doesnt bother me I just needed a little moan.:D Now I just phoned the police after several attempts to sort out the issue of a dangerous dog.I was a little narked at the chap on the phone and explained he must understand it has been over a week and no one has contacted me or spoke the the brainless family who admit there dog is as he said a fighting dog. My opinion is lets see if your mongrel can beat my Pitt bull cross staffordshire bull dog? No not literate meaning.I would never start a dog fight. If the family that own the dog had a brain cell between them they could possibly pick up a pen and write there names although that maybe asking way to much of them.:D This dog tried to attack not only my dog but also my child.Then it turned on me and with every kick to its face with my boot it still returned to try and attack me.I could not turn my back on it incase it got me.It did giveup in the end after about ten kicks. Hence a good moan at some guy on the phone and why in over a week nothing has been done. Quoted the dangerous dog act at him and now waiting for the Seargent to ring me to sort this out. Just goes to show some times having a brother as a police officer doesnt do you any favours however it comes in handy to quote the law. Now lets wait and see what happens? ;)

Ok I know I have tattoo,s and wear a lot of heavy metal T-shirts and clothing. Lets get to the point. There is an elderly lady living next door to me.We been neighbours just over six years.Mind you she never wanted anyone living next door to her but soon took to me and my child. We often sat outside chatting in the warm months.About two years ago we discovered she was going blind.She then went from a strong independent woman to frail panicy and finds it very hard to navigate around her own home she lived in for thirty years.She is in her mid 80s. She has got lost in her own kitchen poor thing we all get old at some point.I have helped her to bed,when she fell and broke her wrist I was the one who went down the hospital with her.When she fell down the stairs and broke her hip I was the one who seen to her untill help arrived. I am not blowing my own trumpet at all,I have helped her many times and she is very greatfull to me. My gripe is? Saint Johns Ambulance service was there and her front door key is held in a key coded box on her outside front door frame.Well as they were leaving they could not get the keycoded box to shut.So the eldery lady told them to call me. I went and seen to this and also calm the elderly lady down or she will work herself up,get upset and could fall. My point is the guy from Saint Johns took one look at me and was horrified.He also made a sly comment about my T-shirt which has "Metal Goddess" on the front and didnt catch what he said about my tattoo,s. I turned round and said "Just because I have tattoo,s and wear a certain type of clothing doesnt mean I am a bad person and upto no good". He got a little flustered and started to say ohh I didnt mean?????????????? I ignored him and went to see to my elderly neighbour as she was calling me.The Saint Johns woman was also a little disgusted at me for my looks. My point is DO NOT JUDGE a person by what they wear or what they look like. I have never stolen,I am usaly not violent,I am a helpfull person with a big heart. My ownly concern was to see to my neigbour I have no hidden agenda. Keep your comments to yourself untill you find out what a person is like on the inside not the outside.

Maynard I am just adding to this thread.:) Click start/right click on my computer and choose properties/hardware tab/device manager. Locate sound and use the + to open the drop down list. Right click on your sound card and choose update driver. You can also try an uninstall driver and reboot while headphones are connected and powered on or turned on. Please could you tell me if you have a realtek/HD audio listed in device manager?. If you do you need to download a fresh driver from Realtek this will also give you the HD audio software which is used to configure your sound card such as speakers,head sets and mics.
