Thanks for doing the research on TMPINS,beeceebee.:)

Thanks DIURNO,and beeceebee,I managed to get into the Bios and found it under PC Health Status. It's 5am so bear with me Guys. Its set like this. CPU Smart Fan-------Disabled Shut down temp-----Disabled Current CPU Temp--40C CPU Fan speed ------3100 System Fan speed----Zero. Does all this look OK? As long as I can go into the Bios and dont make changes,I will go in again and learn a bit.I have more confidence now. Was always warned to keep out of the registry and Bios. Installed Everest and CPU was 30C, Gpu was 43C, and H/D was 28C. I would still like to know what the BMPIN's are that made me panic in the first place. Are they Ram slots? Thanks Guys.:)

I'm using SIW,Tootech. I will instal belarc and check in comparison. I will have a go at the Bios, but don't feel confident, without steps. Thanks for your help.

Hi Guys,Sorry to be back so soon.My PC is going great, thanks to you. This is my Wife's Computer and thought I would check the temps. Near fell off the chair when I saw the printout. Mine TMPIN0 is running at 12C and TMP2 IS 22C in comparison. No matter what it is at 90C I pannicked. What is it anyway, without me sounding dumb? What should I do Guys? Thanks. http://i44.tinypic.com/9bi0lw.png

Everything, seems to be running sweet now, at the moment. You have a great site,Wolfey, and Top Techies.:)

That worked.Task Bar is original size now. Thanks mate. Tinypic Online Host, is now working.Speed Dial, must have got corrupted in change over. May not have to reinstall Opera, now,as the popup didn't appear, since I changed the speed dial address, for Tinypics. OPERA 9.63 I have. That's fixed the problems, and I have appreciated your help,greatly.DirtyPolo. I am very happy.

Thanks for your help mate. I had all my dowloaded files, in a folder and he put all the programs back again. No,nothing shows at all, now, when I mouse over any files. Setting Internet Explorer to default wouldn't help I wonder.Thanks. EDIT.Great.Mouse is working again to show File sizes.Thanks. Unticked "Lock Task Bar"Up and down arrow appears. Holding left mouse button, and drag will not move height of task bar in either direction.I can make the Task bar dissappear, but not adjust height.

Thanks Guys, there are good and bad, in every Business, and wouldn't paint them all, in the same light, as this Techie.I am frustrated, because I am having difficulty, getting everything working again.By the Techie fixing one thing,a lot of other abnormal things have cropped up.I have gone back to IE7 with this new machine. The problems I have just at the moment are that he made the Task Bar Icons huge and the task bar twice as high as normal.I can reduce the size of the Icons in the task bar,but it makes the Desktop Icons smaller as well.I need to reduce the Task Bar Icons without the Desktop Icons. Another problem that has arisen, is when you mouse over any file, it used to tell you the file size. Now it's dead. Opera has to close all the time.Reinstalled made no difference.Think I will delete the folder in program files and make a fresh install.Sound Right? Can I import all Favourites to IE7 first easily? If I use Tinypic, to upload a photo to the forum,as soon as it selects "My Pictures" everything vanishes, and popup says OPERA has to close. Thats where I am up to, Guys, and any clues would be appreciated. Better Days ahead.I am optimistic.:)

DSTM replied to Mara's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Hi Mara,My Computer was acting up exactly the same as yours. In my case I found the culprit to be PC Tools Threatfire. I uninstalled, rebooted and all was OK again.Installed again and same problem again.Given that Program the heave **. Maybe worth a try,Mara,as I found it conflicted with programs, I had running. -
UPDATE. New Years Resolution.Don't ring any Techies to come to your home. The Techie replaced the Hard/Drive with the same brand and loaded Windows. Found out they didn't use the Kingston Chip as Conracted, instead used Strontium Hynix. Also they were to put a Palit R78O but fitted a Palit R61S. R61S is older. The Heatsink was gray instead of pink and the GPU,was dated 7mths ago. Got it back and failed to fire up 2 out of 10 times.Hes suspects a small red cable with black ends may be faulty as well.He used the one off the DVD Burner. You guys would know what cable he is talking about. He also managed to lose all my backup data off the second drive.I ran recuva and couldnt retrieve any,so that's history. 80 GIGS in total. Was all there in folders 4 days ago.He denied taking the Data and said he scaned the second drive, thats all. I was having problems with the old Computer with IE7. I asked him to tale a quick look.Came out and said it's fixed after 20 mins. Charged me $120 and left.Went in and found he had installed IE8 Beta without my consent and changed every view to his personal liking. That annoyed me greatly.IE8 kept wanting to close, for some reason. So Guys I have learnt a valuable lesson from this unpleasant experience. Next time I will buy a dell.:)

Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps, "My friend is dead! What can I do?". The operator says "Calm down. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence, then a shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says "OK, now what?:D

You do fantastic work, on old photos,Mara. Must make a lot of people, very happy, to get their treasured Photos, repaired. I had damaged photos,60yrs old, and Mara saved them for me,thankfully.:)

I will be ringing the Teckie, first thing this morning, telling him to fix nothing, they aren't prepared to cover, with Warranty, mate. Not worth all the extra Dollars, for the little performance,I would gain. Your advice has saved me,added expense. Big Thankyou.

Hi beeceebee,This is a new Computer.(5 Weeks old) I said I was using this old Dinosaur, while the Tower is away. You read me wrong, mate. The Boss won't let me use Her's.She says I might stuff it.LOL EDIT I would say the Hard Drive and Reloading of Windows should be Warranty. The Windows Proffessional and the Ram Sticks I would have to pay for.
-
UPDATE. Never had a chance to try your suggestion,Wolfey. Turned on the Computer, late today and it started to load Windows, made a horrible screaming noice from the Tower, and a noise like I had put 2 discs in the burner together.Windows wouldn't load,so hard shut off,and pannicked. Tried again and same. Rang a Techie who does the on-site Warranty work for the Computer Shop where I bought this *&%^$$%^^. He came, run some checks and said the C/Drive was knackered (5 weeks old) The H/Drive is a Seagate, which he said used to be good, when they were made in TAIWAN,but quality has dropped since made in China. He wants to change the single 2GIG Stick for 2x1 GIG Corsair Sticks as he said 2 sticks are faster. He also said seeing he has to fit a new H/Drive and load Windows, suggested Windows Proffessional instead of Windows Home,as he says Proffessional is more stable. He took the Tower away and I would like you Guys opinion on what he proposes. Here are the Specs at the moment, Windows XP Home SP3 AMD 5200+ 2.7 GHZ Palit 61S Motherboard GeForce 9500 GT 1GB DDR 11 Graphic Card Strontium Hynix DDR 800 2GIG Ram Stick 20x DualLayer Burner Seagate 160 Hard Drive C Samsung 500 GIG Sata 11 Hard Disc (Data) 500W Power supply. Would what he proposes,be a benefit, or overkill? Also can you see any weaknesses in this set up, I should change now? Thanks. Using and old Dinasour with a 14"Screen right now. YUK.

Done that correctly, mate, and still boots into Boot Menu. It was worth a try,and Thankyou. Some Files must be wrong somewhere, you think?

This is all unchartered territory for me.Not sure how to. I can get into the Bios. On the left select Standard CMOS features On the right Do I select "Load Fail Safe Defaults" or "Load Optimized Defaults"? What ever one,you say, then click enter, then "y" then exit. Does that sound right.?
